Levitico 26

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Io il Signore Dio vostro. Non vi farete idolo nè scultura; non erigerete pilastri, nè porrete nella vostra terra segnali cospicui per adorarli. Son io infatti il Signore Dio vostro.	1 ' "You wil not make idols for yourselves; you will not erect statues or cultic stones, or erect carvedstones in your country, for you to worship: for I, Yahweh, am your God.
2 Osservate i miei sabati, ed accostatevi con timore al mio santuario. Io il Signore.	2 You will keep my Sabbaths and revere my sanctuary. I am Yahweh.
3 Se camminerete secondo i miei precetti, se osserverete i miei comandamenti e li eseguirete, io vi darò le piogge ai loro tempi,	3 "If you live according to my laws, if you keep my commandments and put them into practice,
4 la terra darà i suoi prodotti, e gli alberi saranno pieni di frutti;	4 I shal give you the rain you need at the right time; the soil wil yield its produce and the trees of thecountryside their fruit;
5 la battitura delle mèssi durerà sino alla vendemmia, e la vendemmia sino alla sementa; mangerete del vostro pane a sazietà, e senza paura abiterete nella vostra terra.	5 you wil thresh until vintage time and gather grapes until sowing time. You wil eat your fill of bread andlive secure in your land.
6 Farò esser pace ne' vostri possessi; dormirete, nè vi sarà chi vi metta spavento. Vi libererò dalle bestie feroci, e la guerra non entrerà nei vostri confini.	6 "I shall give peace in the land, and you wil go to sleep with no one to frighten you. I shal rid the land of beasts of prey. The sword wil not pass through your land.
7 Inseguirete i vostri nemici, e cadranno innanzi a voi;	7 You will pursue your enemies and they wil fal before your sword;
8 cinque de' vostri metteranno in fuga cento di fuori, e cento di voi diecimila di loro; i vostri nemici periranno di spada dinanzi a voi.	8 five of you pursuing a hundred of them, one hundred pursuing ten thousand; and your enemies wil falbefore your sword.
9 Guarderò a voi, e vi farò crescere; vi moltiplicherete, ed io raffermerò con voi il mio patto.	9 "I shall turn towards you, I shal make you fertile and make your numbers grow, and I shal uphold mycovenant with you.
10 Mangerete del vecchio e del vecchissimo, ed al sopravvenire del nuovo butterete via il vecchio.	10 "Having eaten al you need of last year's harvest, you will throw out the old to make room for the new.
11 Porrò in mezzo a voi la mia dimora, e l'anima mia non si rifletterà.	11 "I shal fix my home among you and never reject you.
12 Camminerò in mezzo a voi; io sarò il vostro Dio, e voi il mio popolo.	12 I shall live among you; I shall be your God and you will be my people,
13 Io il Signore Dio vostro, che vi condussi via dalla terra degli Egiziani affinchè non foste più loro schiavi e che spezzai le catene dal vostro collo, acciò camminaste a testa alta.	13 I, Yahweh your God, who brought you out of Egypt so that you should be their slaves no longer, andwho broke the bonds of your yoke and made you walk with head held high.
14 Ma se non mi ascolterete, se non farete tutto quello ch'io v'ho comandato,	14 "But if you wil not listen to me and do not put all these commandments into practice,
15 se disprezzerete le mie leggi, e non terrete conto dei miei ordini, non facendo quello che io ho stabilito, e rendendo inutile il mio patto con voi,	15 if you reject my laws and detest my customs, and you break my covenant by not putting al mycommandments into practice,
16 io allora farò con voi così: Vi visiterò prontamente con l'angustia e con un fuoco che v'abbruci gli occhi, e vi consumi la vita. Invano seminerete, perchè la vostra semente sarà divorata dagli avversari.	16 this is how I shal treat you: "I shal subject you to terror, consumption and fever, making you dim ofsight and short of breath. You wil sow your seed in vain, for your enemies wil eat it.
17 Vi guarderò sdegnato; cadrete davanti ai vostri nemici, e sarete soggiogati da quelli che vi odiano; vi darete alla fuga senza che nessuno v'insegua.	17 I shall turn against you and you wil be defeated by your enemies. Your foes wil have the masteryover you, and you wil flee when no one is pursuing you.
18 Se poi anche allora non m'obbedirete, crescerò sette volte i castighi dei vostri peccati,	18 "And if, in spite of this, you will not listen to me, I shal punish you seven times over for your sins.
19 e spezzerò la durezza della vostra superbia. Farò che il cielo sopra voi sia come di ferro, e la terra come di bronzo;	19 I shall break your proud strength. I shal make the sky like iron for you, and your soil like bronze.
20 le vostre fatiche saranno gettate invano; la terra non germoglierà e gli alberi non daranno frutto.	20 You wil wear out your strength in vain, your land will not yield its produce, nor the trees of the countrytheir fruit.
21 Se vi metterete in contrasto con me, e non mi vorrete ascoltare, aumenterò del settuplo le vostre piaghe pei vostri peccati;	21 "And if you go against me and wil not listen to me, I shall heap seven times more plagues on you foryour sins.
22 manderò contro di voi le fiere della campagna che divoreranno voi ed il vostro bestiame, vi ridurranno tutti a piccol numero e renderanno deserte le vostre strade.	22 I shall send wild animals to attack you and rob you of your children, destroy your cattle and reduceyour numbers until your roads are deserted.
23 Che se neanche allora vorrete ricevere la correzione, ma vi moverete contro di me,	23 "And if that does not reform you, and you stil go against me,
24 anch'io mi moverò contro di voi, e vi percoterò sette volte più pei vostri peccati.	24 then I shal go against you and punish you another seven times over for your sins.
25 Farò venire su voi la spada a vendicare il mio patto; se vi rifugerete nelle città, manderò in mezzo a voi la pestilenza; e vi darete nelle mani dei vostri nemici,	25 I shall bring the sword on you, which will avenge the covenant, and when you huddle inside yourtowns, I shal send pestilence among you, and you will fal into the enemy's clutches.
26 dopo che io avrò spezzato il sostegno del vostro pane, di maniera che dieci donne potranno cuocere il pane in un solo forno, e lo distribuiranno a peso; mangerete, e non vi sazierete.	26 When I take away the bread which supports you, ten women wil be able to bake your bread in oneoven and wil then dole your bread out by weight; you wil eat but not be satisfied.
27 Se poi nemmeno con questo mi ascolterete, ma procederete contro di me,	27 "And if, in spite of this, you will not listen to me but go against me,
28 ed io procederò contro di voi con altrettanto furore, e vi castigherò con sette piaghe pei peccati,	28 I shall go against you in fury and punish you seven times over for your sins.
29 in guisa che mangerete le carni de' vostri figliuoli e delle vostre figliuole.	29 You wil eat the flesh of your own sons, you wil eat the flesh of your own daughters.
30 Sconvolgerò le vostre colline, e ne spezzerò i simulacri. Cadrete fra i rottami de' vostri idoli, e la mia anima v'avrà in abominio,	30 I shall destroy your high places and smash your incense-altars; I shal pile your corpses on thecorpses of your foul idols and shall reject you.
31 così che ridurrò in solitudine le vostre città, farò deserti i vostri santuari, nè più vi riceverò l'odore graditissimo [dei vostri sacrifizi].	31 I shall reduce your cities to ruins; I shal lay waste your sanctuary and refuse to inhale from yousmel s intended to please.
32 Desolerò la vostra terra, e ne stupiranno i vostri nemici, quando saranno essi divenuti suoi abitanti.	32 I shall make such a desolation of the country that your enemies who come to live there wil beappal ed by it.
33 Voi poi vi disperderò fra le genti, e sguainerò dietro a voi la spada; la vostra terra sarà deserta, e le vostre città diroccate.	33 And I shal scatter you among the nations. I shal unsheathe the sword against you, reducing yourcountry to desert and your towns to ruins.
34 Allora la terra si godrà i suoi sabati in tutto il tempo nel quale sarà deserta, e voi sarete	34 Then the country wil indeed observe its Sabbaths, al the while it lies deserted, while you are in thecountry of your enemies. Then indeed the country wil rest and observe its Sabbaths.
35 in terra nemica; farà i sabati, e si riposerà nei sabati della sua solitudine, perchè non si riposò nei sabati vostri quando l'abitavate voi.	35 And as it lies deserted it will rest, as it never did on your Sabbaths when you were living there.
36 Ed a quelli di voi che rimarranno, metterò in cuore lo spavento nelle terre de' loro nemici; il rumore d'una foglia volante li atterrirà e la fuggiranno come se fosse una spada. Cadranno, senza che alcuno li insegua,	36 I shall strike such fear into the hearts of those of you who survive in the countries of their enemiesthat the sound of a fal ing leaf will set them fleeing; they wil flee as though fleeing from the sword, and fal whenno one is pursuing.
37 cadranno gli uni sugli altri i fratelli, come se fuggissero in battaglia; nessuno di voi oserà resistere ai nemici.	37 They will stumble over one another as though fleeing before the sword, when no one is pursuing. You wil be powerless to stand up to your enemies;
38 Perirete fra le nazioni, ed una terra nemica vi consumerà.	38 you wil perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies wil swal ow you up.
39 Che se alcuni di quelli sopravviveranno, si stringeranno per le proprie iniquità nella terra dei loro nemici, e saranno flagellati pei peccati dei loro padri e propri,	39 Those of you who survive wil pine away in their guilt in the countries of their enemies and, bearingthe guilt of their ancestors too, wil pine away like them.
40 sinchè confessino le iniquità proprie e de' loro maggiori, con le quali mi si rivoltarono, e mossero contro di me.	40 "Then they shal admit their guilt and that of their ancestors and their infidelities against me, andfurther, their setting themselves against me.
41 Moverò dunque anch'io contro di loro, e li ridurrò in terra nemica, sinchè si penta l'incirconciso lor cuore; allora pregheranno pei propri peccati.	41 "I in my turn wil go against them and bring them into the land of their enemies. Then theiruncircumcised hearts wil grow humble and then they wil accept the punishment for their guilt.
42 Ed io mi ricorderò del mio patto, da me concluso con Giacobbe, Isacco ed Abramo; mi ricorderò anche di quella terra,	42 I shall remember my covenant with Jacob, I shal remember my covenant with Isaac and mycovenant with Abraham; and I shal remember the country too.
43 la quale, abbandonata da loro, si sarà goduta i suoi sabati, ridotta in solitudine a causa di loro. Essi allora chiederanno perdono de' loro misfatti, dell'aver rigettati i miei comandamenti e diprezzate le mie leggi.	43 "Abandoned, the country wil keep its Sabbaths, as it lies deserted in their absence, and they wilhave to accept the punishment for their guilt, since they detested my customs and rejected my laws.
44 Eppure, anche quand'erano in terra nemica, non li rigettai del tutto nè così li disprezzai da annientarli, e render vano il patto mio con loro. Perchè io sono il Signore Dio loro,	44 "Yet, in spite of al this, when they are in the land of their enemies, I shall not so utterly reject ordetest them as to destroy them completely and break my covenant with them; for I am Yahweh their God.
45 e mi ricorderò del patto mio antico, di quando in faccia alle nazioni li cavai dalla terra d'Egitto, per esser il loro Dio. Io il Signore -». Questi son gli ordini, i comandamenti e le leggi che il Signore sul monte Sinai stabilì fra sè ed i figli d'Israele, per mezzo di Mosè.	45 For their sake I shall remember the covenant I made with those first generations that I brought out ofEgypt while other nations watched, so that I should be their God, I, Yahweh." '
	46 Such were the decrees, customs and laws which Yahweh established between himself and theIsraelites on Mount Sinai through Moses.
