BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 - Chi vuole allontanarsi dall'amico cerca pretesti, ma resterà poi per sempre col biasimo.	1 Whoever has a will to withdraw from a friend, seeks occasions; he shall be reproached at all times.
2 Lo stolto non accoglie parole di prudenza a meno che tu gli parli secondo quello che volge in cuor suo.	2 The foolish do not accept words of prudence, unless you say what is already turning in his heart.
3 L'empio quand'è giunto nel fondo dei peccati disprezza; ma lo seguono l'ignominia e l'obbrobrio.	3 The impious, when he has arrived within the depths of sin, thinks little of it. But ill repute and disgrace follow him.
4 Acqua profonda son le parole dalla bocca dell'uomo, e il fonte della sapienza è un torrente che inonda.	4 Words from the mouth of a man are deep waters. And the fountain of wisdom is a torrent overflowing.
5 Non è bene portar rispetto al malvagioper far torto alla verità della giustizia.	5 It is not good to accept the character of the impious, so as to turn away from true judgment.
6 Le labbra dello stolto s'intromettono nelle contese e la sua bocca provoca le risse.	6 The lips of the foolish meddle in disputes. And his mouth provokes conflicts.
7 La bocca dello stolto è una sciagura per lui e le sue labbra la rovina dell'anima sua.	7 The mouth of the foolish is his destruction, and his own lips are the ruin of his soul.
8 Le parole d'una lingua doppia sembrano la cosa più lieve, ma esse penetrano fin nelle intime viscere. Il timore abbatte il pigro e le anime degli uomini molli soffriranno la fame.	8 The words of the double-tongued seem simple. And they reach even to the interior of the gut. Fear casts down the lazy, but the souls of the effeminate shall go hungry.
9 Chi è molle e fiacco nel suo lavoro è fratello del dissipatore delle sue fatiche.	9 Whoever is dissolute and slack in his work is the brother of him who wastes his own works.
10 Una torre fortissima è il nome del Signore; vi accorre il giusto e sarà sollevato.	10 The name of the Lord is very strong tower. The just one rushes to it, and he shall be exalted.
11 La fortuna del ricco è la sua città forte e come un fermo baluardo che lo circonda.	11 The substance of the wealthy is the city of his strength, and it is like a strong wall encircling him.
12 Prima di essere abbassato, si esalta il cuor umano e prima d'essere glorificato si umilia.	12 The heart of a man is exalted before it is crushed and humbled before it is glorified.
13 Chi risponde prima d'aver ascoltatosi mostra sciocco e degno di biasimo.	13 Whoever responds before he listens, demonstrates himself to be foolish and deserving of confusion.
14 Lo spirito dell'uomo lo sostiene nella sua infermità, ma uno spirito irritabile in chi avrà sostegno?	14 The spirit of a man sustains his weakness. Yet who can sustain a spirit that is easily angered?
15 Il cuore prudente acquisterà la scienza - e anche: l'orecchio dei sapienti cerca la dottrina.	15 A prudent heart shall possess knowledge. And the ear of the wise seeks doctrine.
16 Il dono dell'uomo gli spalanca la via e gli fa largo davanti ai principi.	16 A man’s gift expands his way and makes space for him before leaders.
17 Il giusto è il primo ad accusar se stesso, venga pure il suo amico e gli faccia la requisitoria.	17 The just is the first accuser of himself; his friend arrives and shall investigate him.
18 La sorte acqueta le contese, e decide anche tra i potenti.	18 Casting a lot suppresses contentions and passes judgment, even among the powerful.
19 Un fratello aiutato da un fratello è come una città fortificata; e le liti, come le sbarre dei castelli.	19 A brother who is helped by a brother is like a reinforced city, and judgments are like the bars of cities.
20 Del frutto della sua bocca l'uomo sazierà il suo ventre, ed i proventi delle sue labbra lo sfameranno.	20 From the fruit of a man’s mouth shall his belly be filled. And the harvest of his own lips shall satisfy him.
21 La morte e la vita in poter della lingua; quelli che l'amano ne gusteranno i frutti.	21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Whoever values it shall eat from its fruits.
22 Chi ha trovato una buona moglie ha trovato una fortuna e avrà ottenuto dal Signore una fonte di giocondità. Chi scaccia una buona moglie, scaccia la fortuna; chi tiene un'adultera è stolto ed empio.	22 He who has found a good wife has found goodness, and he shall draw contentment from the Lord. He who expels a good wife expels goodness. But he who holds on to an adulteress is foolish and impious.
23 Il povero supplicando parleràe il ricco risponderà arrogantemente.	23 The poor will speak with supplications. And the rich will express themselves roughly.
24 L'uomo amabile e socievole, sarà amico più affezionato d'un fratello.	24 A man amiable to society shall be more friendly than a brother.
