Proverbi 12

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Chi ama la disciplina, ama la scienza; ma chi odia gli ammonimenti è uno scemo.	1 Whoever loves discipline, loves knowledge, stupid are those who hate correction.
2 Chi è buono, otterrà favori dal Signore, e chi confida nei suoi artifizi, opra da empio.	2 The honest obtains Yahweh's favour, the schemer incurs his condemnation.
3 L'uomo non acquisterà fermezza coll'iniquità; ma la radice dei giusti non sarà mai smossa.	3 No one is made secure by wickedness, but nothing shakes the roots of the upright.
4 La donna diligente è la corona del marito; e carie nelle ossa quella che fa azioni indegne.	4 A capable wife, her husband's crown, a shameless wife, a cancer in his bones.
5 I pensieri dei giusti sono l'equità; e i consigli dei tristi sono frodolenti.	5 The plans of the upright are honest, the intrigues of the wicked are full of deceit.
6 Le parole degli empi insidiano al sangue altrui; la bocca dei buoni li libererà.	6 The words of the wicked are snares to shed blood, what the honest say keeps them safe.
7 Lascia che voltino gli empi, e non saranno più; ma la casa dei giusti resterà salva.	7 Once thrown down, the wicked are no more, but the house of the upright stands firm.
8 Dalla sua dottrina si conoscerà l'uomo, e chi è vano e scemo sarà esposto al disprezzo.	8 Prudence wins praise, but a tortuous heart incurs only contempt.
9 È meglio un povero che basta a sè, di un borioso che manca di pane.	9 Better a common fel ow who has a slave than someone who gives himself airs and has nothing to eat.
10 Il giusto ha cura della vita delle sue bestiole, ma le viscere degli empi sono crudeli.	10 The upright has compassion on his animals, but the heart of the wicked is ruthless.
11 Chi lavora la sua terra, si sazierà di pane; chi segue l'ozio è più che stolto. Chi prende gusto nei trattenimenti dei bevitori di vinolascerà il disonore nei suoi castelli.	11 Whoever works his land shall have bread and to spare, but no one who chases fantasies has anysense.
12 Il desiderio dell'empio è che si rafforzino i peggiori; ma la radice del giusto germoglierà.	12 The godless delights in the snare of the wicked, but the root of the upright bears fruit.
13 Pei peccati delle labbra il malvagio va incontro alla rovina; ma il giusto scamperà dall'angustia.	13 In the sin of the lips lies a disastrous trap, but the upright finds a way out of misfortune.
14 Ciascuno si sazierà dei beni, frutto della sua bocca e secondo la mercede delle sue mani sarà retribuito.	14 Abundance of good things is the fruit of the lips; labour brings its own return.
15 La via dello stolto è diritta ai suoi occhi, ma chi è saggio dà retta ai consigli.	15 Fools think the way they go is straight, the wise listens to advice.
16 L'insensato fa conoscere tosto la sua collera, ma chi dissimula un affronto è avveduto.	16 The fool shows anger straightaway, the discreet conceals dislike.
17 Chi dice quello che sa, dà indizio di giustizia, ma chi mentisce è testimonio frodolento.	17 To tel the truth is to further justice, a false witness is nothing but deceit.
18 C'è chi promette e gli ripunge come spada nella sua coscienza, ma la lingua dei saggi è una medicina.	18 Thoughtless words can wound like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
19 Il labbro veritiero sarà costante in perpetuo, ma chi è testimonio avventato acconcia la lingua alla menzogna.	19 Sincere lips endure for ever, the lying tongue lasts only a moment.
20 Nel cuore dei macchinatori di malvagità c'è l'inganno e a quelli che fanno accordi di pace tien dietro l'allegrezza.	20 Deceit is in the heart of the schemer, joy with those who give counsels of peace.
21 Non contristerà il giusto qualunque cosa l'incolga, mentre i tristi saranno sempre pieni di guai.	21 No harm can come to the upright, but the wicked are swamped by misfortunes.
22 Le labbra menzognere sono in abominio presso Dio, e quelli che operano con lealtà hanno la sua simpatia.	22 Lying lips are abhorrent to Yahweh; dear to him those who make truth their way of life.
23 L'uomo accorto cela la sua scienza, e il cuor degli stolti pubblica la sua follia.	23 The discreet keeps knowledge hidden, the heart of fools proclaims their folly.
24 La mano dei laboriosi signoreggerà, e la pigra pagherà tributo.	24 For the diligent hand, authority; for the slack hand, forced labour.
25 La tristezza nel cuore dell'uomo l'abbatterà, e da una buona parola sarà rallegrato.	25 Worry makes a heart heavy, a kindly word makes it glad.
26 Chi non cura il suo danno in pro dell'amico è giusto, ma il cammino dei tristi fa loro perdere i passi.	26 The upright shows the way to a friend; the way of the wicked leads them astray.
27 Il fraudolento non troverà guadagno, e una sostanza frutto dell'uomo vale tant'oro.	27 The idle has no game to roast; diligence is anyone's most precious possession.
28 Sul sentiero della giustizia c'è la vita, e la strada obliqua conduce alla morte.	28 In the way of uprightness is life, the ways of the vengeful lead to death.
