υπολαβων δε ιωβ λεγει1 Then Job answered, and said:
τινι προσκεισαι η τινι μελλεις βοηθειν ποτερον ουχ ω πολλη ισχυς και ω βραχιων κραταιος εστιν2 Whose helper art thou? is it of him that is weak? and dost thou hold up the arm of him that has no strength?
τινι συμβεβουλευσαι ουχ ω πασα σοφια η τινι επακολουθησεις ουχ ω μεγιστη δυναμις3 To whom hast thou given counsel? perhaps to him that hath no wisdom, and thou hast shewn thy very great prudence.
τινι ανηγγειλας ρηματα πνοη δε τινος εστιν η εξελθουσα εκ σου4 Whom hast thou desired to teach? was it not him that made life?
μη γιγαντες μαιωθησονται υποκατωθεν υδατος και των γειτονων αυτου5 Behold the giants groan under the waters, and they that dwell with them.
γυμνος ο αδης επωπιον αυτου και ουκ εστιν περιβολαιον τη απωλεια6 Hell is naked before him, and there is no covering for destruction.
εκτεινων βορεαν επ' ουδεν κρεμαζων γην επι ουδενος7 He stretched out the north over the empty space, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.
δεσμευων υδωρ εν νεφελαις αυτου και ουκ ερραγη νεφος υποκατω αυτου8 He bindeth up the waters in his clouds, so that they break not out and fall down together.
ο κρατων προσωπον θρονου εκπεταζων επ' αυτον νεφος αυτου9 He withholdeth the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud over it.
προσταγμα εγυρωσεν επι προσωπον υδατος μεχρι συντελειας φωτος μετα σκοτους10 He hath set bounds about the waters, till light and darkness come to an end.
στυλοι ουρανου επετασθησαν και εξεστησαν απο της επιτιμησεως αυτου11 The pillars of heaven tremble, and dread at his beck.
ισχυι κατεπαυσεν την θαλασσαν επιστημη δε ετρωσε το κητος12 By his power the seas are suddenly gathered together, and his wisdom has struck the proud one.
κλειθρα δε ουρανου δεδοικασιν αυτον προσταγματι δε εθανατωσεν δρακοντα αποστατην13 His spirit hath adorned the heavens, and his obstetric hand brought forth the winding serpent.
ιδου ταυτα μερη οδου αυτου και επι ικμαδα λογου ακουσομεθα εν αυτω σθενος δε βροντης αυτου τις οιδεν οποτε ποιησει14 Lo, these things are said in part of his ways: and seeing we have heard scarce a little drop of his word, who shall be able to behold the thunder of his greatness?
