1 Genealogia di Gesù Cristo figlio di Davide, figlio di Abramo.	1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2 Abramo generò Isacco, Isacco generò Giacobbe, Giacobbe generò Giuda e i suoi fratelli,	2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;
3 Giuda generò Fares e Zara da Tamar, Fares generò Esrom, Esrom generò Aram,	3 And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;
4 Aram generò Aminadàb, Aminadàb generò Naassòn, Naassòn generò Salmon,	4 And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon;
5 Salmon generò Booz da Racab, Booz generò Obed da Rut, Obed generò Iesse,	5 And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;
6 Iesse generò il re Davide. Davide generò Salomone da quella che era stata la moglie di Uria,	6 And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;
7 Salomone generò Roboamo, Roboamo generò Abia, Abia generò Asaf,	7 And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;
8 Asaf generò Giòsafat, Giòsafat generò Ioram, Ioram generò Ozia,	8 And Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias;
9 Ozia generò Ioatàm, Ioatàm generò Acaz, Acaz generò Ezechia,	9 And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias;
10 Ezechia generò Manasse, Manasse generò Amos, Amos generò Giosia,	10 And Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias;
11 Giosia generò Ieconia e i suoi fratelli, al tempo della deportazione in Babilonia.	11 And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:
12 Dopo la deportazione in Babilonia, Ieconia generò Salatièl, Salatièl generò Zorobabele,	12 And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel;
13 Zorobabele generò Abiùd, Abiùd generò Eliachìm, Eliachìm generò Azor,	13 And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;
14 Azor generò Sadoc, Sadoc generò Achim, Achim generò Eliùd,	14 And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;
15 Eliùd generò Eleazar, Eleazar generò Mattan, Mattan generò Giacobbe,	15 And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;
16 Giacobbe generò Giuseppe, lo sposo di Maria, dalla quale è nato Gesù, chiamato Cristo.	16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17 In tal modo, tutte le generazioni da Abramo a Davide sono quattordici, da Davide fino alla deportazione in Babilonia quattordici, dalla deportazione in Babilonia a Cristo quattordici.	17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
18 Così fu generato Gesù Cristo: sua madre Maria, essendo promessa sposa di Giuseppe, prima che andassero a vivere insieme si trovò incinta per opera dello Spirito Santo.	18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Giuseppe suo sposo, poiché era uomo giusto e non voleva accusarla pubblicamente, pensò di ripudiarla in segreto.	19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
20 Mentre però stava considerando queste cose, ecco, gli apparve in sogno un angelo del Signore e gli disse: «Giuseppe, figlio di Davide, non temere di prendere con te Maria, tua sposa. Infatti il bambino che è generato in lei viene dallo Spirito Santo;	20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 ella darà alla luce un figlio e tu lo chiamerai Gesù: egli infatti salverà il suo popolo dai suoi peccati».	21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Tutto questo è avvenuto perché si compisse ciò che era stato detto dal Signore per mezzo del profeta:	22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Ecco, la vergine concepirà e darà alla luce un figlio: a lui sarà dato il nome di Emmanuele, che significa Dio con noi.	23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24 Quando si destò dal sonno, Giuseppe fece come gli aveva ordinato l’angelo del Signore e prese con sé la sua sposa;	24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25 senza che egli la conoscesse, ella diede alla luce un figlio ed egli lo chiamò Gesù.	25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
