1 Mi fu quindi rivolta questa parola del Signore:	1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,
2 «Figlio dell’uomo, volgiti verso i monti d’Israele e profetizza contro di essi:	2 'Son of man, turn towards the mountains of Israel and prophesy against them.
3 Monti d’Israele, udite la parola del Signore Dio. Così dice il Signore Dio ai monti e alle colline, alle gole e alle valli: Ecco, manderò sopra di voi la spada e distruggerò le vostre alture.	3 Say, "Mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord Yahweh. The Lord Yahweh says this to mountainsand hil s and ravines and val eys: Look, I am going to summon the sword against you and destroy your highplaces.
4 I vostri altari saranno demoliti e quelli per l’incenso infranti, getterò i vostri cadaveri davanti ai vostri idoli	4 Your altars will be wrecked, and your incense burners smashed; I shal fling your butchered inhabitantsdown in front of your foul idols;
5 e disseminerò le vostre ossa intorno ai vostri altari.	5 I shall lay the corpses of the Israelites in front of their foul idols and scatter their bones all round youraltars.
6 Su tutto il vostro suolo dove abitate, le città saranno devastate, le alture verranno rese deserte, in modo che i vostri altari siano devastati e resi deserti, e siano frantumati e scompaiano i vostri idoli, siano spezzati i vostri altari per l’incenso e siano eliminate le vostre opere.	6 Wherever you live, the towns will be destroyed and the high places wrecked, to the ruin and wrecking ofyour altars, the shattering and abolition of your foul idols, the smashing of your incense burners and the utterdestruction of al your works.
7 Trafitti a morte cadranno in mezzo a voi e saprete che io sono il Signore.	7 As the butchered fall about you, you wil know that I am Yahweh.
8 Tuttavia farò sopravvivere in mezzo alle nazioni alcuni di voi scampati alla spada, quando vi disperderò nei vari paesi.	8 "But I shal spare some of you to escape the sword among the nations, when you have been dispersedin their lands;
9 I vostri scampati si ricorderanno di me fra le nazioni in mezzo alle quali saranno deportati: io, infatti, spezzerò il loro cuore infedele, che si è allontanato da me, e i loro occhi, che si sono prostituiti ai loro idoli; avranno orrore di se stessi per le iniquità commesse e per tutti i loro abomini.	9 and your survivors wil remember me among the nations where they are held captive, since I shal havebroken their adulterous hearts for having deserted me, and destroyed their eyes for having turned adulterouslytowards their foul idols. They wil loathe themselves for al the wrong they have caused by their loathsomepractices.
10 Sapranno allora che io sono il Signore e che non ho minacciato invano di infliggere loro questi mali.	10 Then they wil know that I am Yahweh and that I was not talking lightly when I said that I would inflictthese disasters on them."
11 Così dice il Signore Dio: Batti le mani, pesta i piedi e di’: “Ohimè, per tutti i loro orribili abomini il popolo d’Israele perirà di spada, di fame e di peste!	11 'The Lord Yahweh says this, "Clap your hands, stamp your feet, and say: Alas for al the loathsomesins of the House of Israel, which is about to fal by sword, famine and plague!
12 Chi è lontano morirà di peste, chi è vicino cadrà di spada, chi è assediato morirà di fame: sfogherò su di loro il mio sdegno”.	12 Far off, they wil die by plague; near at hand they will fal by the sword; and any who survive or arespared wil die of famine. This is how I shal sate my fury on them.
13 Saprete allora che io sono il Signore, quando i loro cadaveri giaceranno fra i loro idoli, intorno ai loro altari, su ogni colle elevato, su ogni cima di monte, sotto ogni albero verde e ogni quercia frondosa, dovunque hanno bruciato profumi soavi ai loro idoli.	13 Then you will know that I am Yahweh, when their butchered corpses lie among their foul idols, allround their altars, on every high hil , on every mountain top, under every green tree, under every leafy oak,wherever they offer a smel pleasing to al their idols.
14 Stenderò la mano su di loro e renderò la terra desolata e brulla, dal deserto fino a Ribla, dovunque dimorino; sapranno allora che io sono il Signore».	14 I shal point my finger at them and reduce the country to an empty wasteland from the desert to Riblah,everywhere they live, and they wil know that I am Yahweh." '
