1 Nell’anno decimo, nel decimo mese, il dodici del mese, mi fu rivolta questa parola del Signore:	1 On the twelfth day of the tenth month in the tenth year, the word of the LORD came to me:
2 «Figlio dell’uomo, rivolgiti contro il faraone, re d’Egitto, e profetizza contro di lui e contro tutto l’Egitto.	2 Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and prophesy against him and against all Egypt.
3 Parla dunque dicendo: Così dice il Signore Dio: Eccomi contro di te, faraone, re d’Egitto; grande coccodrillo, sdraiato in mezzo al Nilo, hai detto: “Il Nilo è mio, è mia creatura”.	3 Say this to him: Thus says the Lord GOD: See! I am coming at you, Pharaoh, king of Egypt, Great crouching monster amidst your Niles: Who say, "The Niles are mine; it is I who made them!"
4 Metterò ganci alle tue mascelle e farò sì che i pesci dei tuoi fiumi ti si attacchino alle squame e ti farò uscire dal tuo Nilo insieme con tutti i pesci del tuo Nilo attaccati alle squame;	4 I will put hooks in your jaws and make the fish of your Niles stick to your scales, then draw you up from the midst of your Niles along with all the fish of your Niles sticking to your scales.
5 getterò nel deserto te e tutti i pesci del tuo Nilo, e andrai a cadere in mezzo alla campagna e non sarai né raccolto né sepolto: ti darò in pasto alle bestie selvatiche e agli uccelli del cielo.	5 I will cast you into the desert, you and all the fish of your Niles; You shall fall upon the open field, you shall not be taken up or buried; To the beasts of the earth and the birds of the air I give you as food,
6 Tutti gli abitanti dell’Egitto sapranno che io sono il Signore, poiché tu sei stato un sostegno di canna per la casa d’Israele.	6 That all who dwell in Egypt may know that I am the LORD. Because you have been a reed staff for the house of Israel:
7 Quando questi ti vollero afferrare ti rompesti, lacerando tutta la loro spalla, e quando si appoggiarono a te ti spezzasti, facendo vacillare tutti i loro fianchi.	7 When they held you in hand, you splintered, throwing every shoulder out of joint; When they leaned on you, you broke, bringing each one of them down headlong;
8 Perciò così dice il Signore Dio: Ecco, io manderò contro di te una spada ed eliminerò da te uomini e bestie.	8 therefore thus says the Lord GOD: See! I will bring the sword against you, and cut off from you both man and beast.
9 L’Egitto diventerà un luogo desolato e deserto e sapranno che io sono il Signore. Perché egli ha detto: “Il Nilo è mio, è mia creatura”.	9 The land of Egypt shall become a desolate waste; thus they shall know that I am the LORD. Because you said, "The Niles are mine; it is I who made them,"
10 Ebbene, eccomi contro di te e contro il tuo Nilo. Io farò dell’Egitto, da Migdol fino a Siene, fino alla frontiera d’Etiopia, una terra deserta e desolata.	10 therefore see! I am coming at you and against your Niles; I will make the land of Egypt a waste and a desolation from Migdol to Syene, and even to the frontier of Ethiopia.
11 Non vi passerà piede d’uomo o d’animale e rimarrà deserta per quarant’anni.	11 No foot of man or beast shall pass through it; they shall not pass through it, and it will be uninhabited for forty years.
12 Ridurrò l’Egitto a una terra desolata fra le terre devastate e le sue città saranno distrutte, rimarranno una desolazione per quarant’anni e disperderò gli Egiziani fra le genti e li disseminerò in paesi stranieri.	12 I will make the land of Egypt the most desolate of lands, and its cities shall be the most deserted of cities for forty years; and I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and strew them over foreign lands.
13 Perché così dice il Signore Dio: Al termine dei quarant’anni io radunerò gli Egiziani dai popoli in mezzo ai quali li avevo dispersi.	13 Yet thus says the Lord GOD: At the end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the peoples among whom they are scattered,
14 Muterò la loro sorte e li ricondurrò nel paese di Patros, nella loro terra d’origine, e lì formeranno un piccolo regno;	14 and I will restore Egypt's fortune, bringing them back to the land of Pathros, the land of their origin, where it will be the lowliest
15 sarà il più modesto fra gli altri regni e non si ergerà più sugli altri popoli. Li renderò piccoli e non domineranno più le altre nazioni.	15 of kingdoms, never more to set itself above the nations. I will make them few, that they may not dominate the nations.
16 Non costituiranno più una speranza per la casa d’Israele, alla quale ricorderanno l’iniquità di quando si rivolgeva a loro: sapranno allora che io sono il Signore Dio».	16 No longer shall they be for the house of Israel to trust in, but the living reminder of its guilt for having turned to follow after them. Thus they shall know that I am the LORD.
17 Ora, nell’anno ventisettesimo, nel primo mese, il primo del mese, mi fu rivolta questa parola del Signore:	17 On the first day of the first month in the twenty-seventh year, the word of the LORD came to me:
18 «Figlio dell’uomo, Nabucodònosor, re di Babilonia, ha fatto compiere al suo esercito una grande impresa contro Tiro: ogni testa è diventata calva e ogni spalla è piagata, ma il re e il suo esercito non hanno ricevuto da Tiro il compenso per l’impresa compiuta contro di essa.	18 Son of man, Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, has led his army in an exhausting campaign against Tyre. Their heads became bald and their shoulders were galled; but neither he nor his army received any wages from Tyre for the campaign he led against it.
19 Perciò così dice il Signore Dio: Ecco, io consegno a Nabucodònosor, re di Babilonia, la terra d’Egitto; porterà via le sue ricchezze, si impadronirà delle sue spoglie, la saccheggerà. Questa sarà la paga per il suo esercito.	19 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: I am now giving the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon. He shall carry off its riches, plundering and pillaging it for the wages of his soldiers, who did it for me;
20 Per l’impresa compiuta contro Tiro io gli consegno la terra d’Egitto, poiché l’ha compiuta per me. Oracolo del Signore.	20 as payment for his toil I have given him the land of Egypt, says the Lord GOD.
21 In quel giorno io farò germogliare una forza per la casa d’Israele e ti farò aprire la bocca in mezzo a loro: sapranno che io sono il Signore».	21 On that day I will make a horn sprout for the house of Israel, and I will cause you to speak out in their midst; thus they shall know that I am the LORD.
