Ezechiele 14

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Vennero a trovarmi alcuni anziani d’Israele e sedettero dinanzi a me.	1 Next, some elders of Israel visited me and while they were sitting with me,
2 Mi fu rivolta allora questa parola del Signore:	2 the word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,
3 «Figlio dell’uomo, questi uomini hanno posto i loro idoli nel proprio cuore e approfittano di ogni occasione per peccare. Mi lascerò consultare da loro?	3 'Son of man, these men have enshrined their foul idols in their hearts and placed the cause of theirsinning right before their eyes. Why should I let myself be consulted by them?
4 Parla quindi e di’ loro: Dice il Signore Dio: A chiunque della casa d’Israele avrà posto i suoi idoli nel proprio cuore e avrà approfittato di ogni occasione per peccare e verrà dal profeta, io, il Signore, risponderò in base alla moltitudine dei suoi idoli;	4 So speak to them; tel them this, "Lord Yahweh says this: Every member of the House of Israel whoenshrines his foul idols in his heart and places the cause of his sinning right before his eyes, and who thenapproaches the prophet, wil get this answer from me, Yahweh, as the multiplicity of his idols deserves,
5 così raggiungerò il cuore della casa d’Israele che si è allontanata da me a causa di tutti i suoi idoli.	5 and in this way I hope to win back the hearts of the House of Israel who have al been estranged fromme by their foul idols."
6 Riferisci pertanto alla casa d’Israele: Dice il Signore Dio: Convertitevi, abbandonate i vostri idoli e distogliete la faccia da tutti i vostri abomini,	6 'So say to the House of Israel, "The Lord Yahweh says this: Come back, turn away from your foulidols, turn your backs on al your loathsome practices;
7 poiché a chiunque della casa d’Israele e a ogni straniero abitante in Israele che si allontana da me e pone nel proprio cuore i suoi idoli e approfitta di ogni occasione per peccare e viene dal profeta a consultarmi, io stesso, il Signore, risponderò.	7 for if any member of the House of Israel -- or any foreigner living in Israel -- deserts me to enshrine hisfoul idols in his heart and places the cause of his sinning right before his eyes and then approaches a prophet toconsult me through him, he will get his answer from me, Yahweh.
8 Distoglierò la faccia da costui e ne farò un esempio proverbiale, e lo sterminerò dal mio popolo: così saprete che io sono il Signore.	8 I shal set my face against that person; I shall make him an example and a byword; I shal rid mypeople of him, and you wil know that I am Yahweh.
9 Se un profeta si inganna e fa una profezia, io, il Signore, lascio nell’inganno quel profeta: stenderò la mano contro di lui e lo cancellerò dal mio popolo Israele.	9 And if the prophet is seduced into saying something, I, Yahweh, shall have seduced that prophet; Ishall point my finger at him and rid my people Israel of him.
10 Popolo e profeta porteranno la pena della loro iniquità. La pena di chi consulta sarà uguale a quella del profeta,	10 Both wil be punished for their guilt; the prophet's punishment wil be the same as that of the personwho consults him,
11 perché la casa d’Israele non vada più errando lontano da me né più si contamini con tutte le sue prevaricazioni: essi saranno il mio popolo e io sarò il loro Dio». Oracolo del Signore Dio.	11 so that the House of Israel wil never stray from me again or defile themselves again with thesecrimes, but be my people and I their God -- declares the Lord Yahweh." '
12 Mi fu rivolta questa parola del Signore:	12 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me:
13 «Figlio dell’uomo, se una terra pecca contro di me e si rende infedele, io stendo la mano sopra di essa, le tolgo la riserva del pane, le mando contro la fame e stermino uomini e bestie;	13 'Son of man, when a country sins against me by being unfaithful and I point my finger at it anddestroy its supply of food, inflicting famine on it and denuding it of human and animal,
14 anche se in quella terra vivessero questi tre uomini: Noè, Daniele e Giobbe, essi con la loro giustizia salverebbero solo se stessi, oracolo del Signore Dio.	14 even if the three men, Noah, Danel and Job, were living in it, they would save no one but themselvesby their uprightness -- declares the Lord Yahweh.
15 Oppure, se io facessi invadere quella terra da bestie feroci, tali che la privassero dei suoi figli e ne facessero un deserto impercorribile a causa delle bestie feroci,	15 Were I to unleash wild beasts on that country to rob it of its children and reduce it to a desert whichno one would dare to cross because of the animals,
16 anche se in quella terra ci fossero questi tre uomini, giuro com’è vero ch’io vivo, oracolo del Signore Dio: non salverebbero figli né figlie. Essi soltanto si salverebbero, ma la terra sarebbe un deserto.	16 even if these three men were living there, as I live -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- they would not beable to save either son or daughter; they alone would be saved, and the country would become a desert.
17 Oppure, se io mandassi la spada contro quella terra e dicessi: “Spada, percorri quella terra”, e così sterminassi uomini e bestie,	17 Were I to bring the sword down on that country and say, "Sword, cross the country!" so as to denude it of human and animal,
18 anche se in quella terra ci fossero questi tre uomini, giuro com’è vero che io vivo, oracolo del Signore Dio: non salverebbero figli né figlie. Essi soltanto si salverebbero.	18 even if these three men were living there, as I live -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- they would not beable to save either son or daughter; they alone would be saved.
19 Oppure, se io mandassi la peste contro quella terra e sfogassi nel sangue il mio sdegno e sterminassi uomini e bestie,	19 If I were to send the plague on that country and vent my fury on it by bloodshed, so as to denude it ofhuman and animal,
20 anche se in quella terra ci fossero Noè, Daniele e Giobbe, giuro com’è vero che io vivo, oracolo del Signore Dio: non salverebbero figli né figlie. Essi soltanto si salverebbero per la loro giustizia.	20 even if Noah and Danel and Job were living there, as I live -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- they wouldbe able to save neither son nor daughter, only themselves by their uprightness.
21 Dice infatti il Signore Dio: Quando manderò contro Gerusalemme i miei quattro tremendi castighi: la spada, la fame, le bestie feroci e la peste, per estirpare da essa uomini e bestie,	21 'The Lord Yahweh says this, "Even if I send my four dreadful scourges on Jerusalem-sword, famine,wild beasts and plague -- to denude it of human and animal,
22 ecco, vi sarà un resto che si metterà in salvo con i figli e le figlie. Essi verranno da voi, perché vediate la loro condotta e le loro opere e vi consoliate del male che ho mandato contro Gerusalemme, di quanto ho mandato contro di essa.	22 even so, there wil be a remnant left, a few men and women who come through; when they come toyou and you see their conduct and actions, you wil take comfort in spite of the disaster which I have brought onJerusalem, in spite of al I have brought on her.
23 Essi vi consoleranno quando vedrete la loro condotta e le loro opere e saprete che non ho fatto senza ragione quello che ho fatto contro di essa». Oracolo del Signore Dio.	23 They will comfort you, when you see their conduct and actions, and so you wil know that I have notdone in vain al I have done to her -- declares the Lord Yahweh." '
