Geremia 50

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Parola che il Signore pronunciò contro Babilonia, contro la terra dei Caldei, per mezzo del profeta Geremia.	1 The word that Yahweh spoke against Babylon, against the country of the Chaldaeans, through theprophet Jeremiah.
2 «Proclamatelo fra i popoli e fatelo sapere, non nascondetelo, dite: “Babilonia è presa, Bel è coperto di confusione, è infranto Marduc, sono svergognati i suoi idoli, sono infranti i suoi feticci”.	2 Announce it to the nations, proclaim it, hoist a signal and proclaim it, making no secret of it, say,'Babylon is captured, Bel disgraced, Marduk shattered. (Her idols are disgraced, her Obscenities shattered.)'
3 Poiché dal settentrione sale contro di essa un popolo che ridurrà la sua terra a un deserto: non vi abiterà più nessuno. Uomini e animali fuggono, se ne vanno.	3 For a nation is marching on her from the north, to turn her country into a desert: no one will live thereany more; human and animal have fled and gone.
4 In quei giorni e in quel tempo – oracolo del Signore – verranno i figli d’Israele insieme con i figli di Giuda; cammineranno piangendo e cercheranno il Signore, loro Dio.	4 In those days and at that time the people of Israel will return (they and the people of Judah); they wilcome weeping in search of Yahweh their God.
5 Domanderanno di Sion, verso cui sono fissi i loro volti: “Venite, uniamoci al Signore con un’alleanza eterna, che non sia mai dimenticata”.	5 They will ask the way to Zion and turn their faces towards her, 'Come, let us bind ourselves to Yahwehby an everlasting covenant never to be forgotten!'
6 Gregge di pecore sperdute era il mio popolo, i loro pastori le avevano sviate, le avevano fatte smarrire per i monti; esse andavano di monte in colle, avevano dimenticato il loro ovile.	6 Lost sheep, such were my people; their shepherds led them astray, the mountains misled them; frommountain to hil they went, forgetful of their fold.
7 Quanti le trovavano, le divoravano, e i loro nemici dicevano: “Non ne siamo colpevoli, perché essi hanno peccato contro il Signore, sede di giustizia e speranza dei loro padri”.	7 Whoever came across them devoured them, their enemies said, 'We are not to blame, since they havesinned against Yahweh, the Home of Justice, against Yahweh, the Hope of their ancestors.'
8 Fuggite da Babilonia, dalla regione dei Caldei, uscite e siate come capri in testa al gregge.	8 Escape from Babylon, leave the country of the Chaldaeans. Be like he-goats, leading the sheep!
9 Poiché ecco, io suscito e mando contro Babilonia una massa di grandi nazioni dalla terra del settentrione; le si schiereranno contro, ed essa sarà presa. Le loro frecce sono come quelle di un abile arciere, nessuna ritorna a vuoto.	9 For look, I shall raise a league of mighty nations to attack Babylon, from the land of the north. They wiltake up position against her; by them she wil be taken. Their arrows, like an experienced soldier's, never returnin vain.
10 La Caldea diventerà preda di saccheggiatori, tutti se ne sazieranno». Oracolo del Signore.	10 Chaldaea wil be plundered, al her plunderers wil be satisfied, Yahweh declares.
11 Gioite pure e tripudiate, predatori della mia eredità! Saltate pure come giovenchi su un prato e nitrite come stalloni!	11 Rejoice! Have your triumph, you plunderers of my heritage! Be playful like a heifer let out to grass!Neigh like stallions!
12 Vostra madre è piena di confusione, è coperta di vergogna colei che vi ha partorito. Ecco, è l’ultima delle nazioni, un deserto, un luogo riarso e una steppa.	12 But your mother is covered with shame, disgraced is the woman who bore you; she is the least ofnations now; a desert, a parched land, a wasteland.
13 A causa dell’ira del Signore non sarà più abitata, sarà tutta una desolazione. Chiunque passerà vicino a Babilonia rimarrà stupito e fischierà di scherno davanti a tutte le sue piaghe.	13 Because of Yahweh's anger, no one wil live there any more, she wil become a total solitude. All whopass by Babylon wil be appal ed and whistle at the sight of al her wounds.
14 Disponetevi intorno a Babilonia, voi tutti che tendete l’arco; tirate senza risparmiare le frecce, perché ha peccato contro il Signore.	14 Take position against Babylon, surround her, al you who bend the bow. Shoot at her! Do not spareyour arrows, for she has sinned against Yahweh!
15 Da ogni parte alzate il grido di guerra contro di lei. Essa tende la mano, crollano le sue torri, rovinano le sue mura: questa è la vendetta del Signore. Vendicatevi di lei, trattatela come essa ha trattato gli altri!	15 Raise the war cry against her from all sides. She surrenders! Her bastions fal ! Her wal s collapse!This is Yahweh's vengeance! Take revenge on her. Treat her as she has treated others.
16 Sterminate in Babilonia chi semina e chi impugna la falce per mietere. Di fronte alla spada micidiale ciascuno ritorni al suo popolo e ciascuno fugga verso la sua terra.	16 Deprive Babylon of the man who sows, of the man who wields the sickle at harvest. Away from thedevastating sword, let everyone return to his own people, let everyone flee to his own country!
17 Una pecora smarrita è Israele, i leoni le hanno dato la caccia; per primo l’ha divorata il re d’Assiria, poi Nabucodònosor, re di Babilonia, ne ha stritolato le ossa.	17 Israel was a straying sheep pursued by lions. First, the king of Assyria devoured him, and latterlyNebuchadnezzar king of Babylon crunched his bones.
18 Perciò, dice il Signore degli eserciti, Dio d’Israele: «Ecco, io punirò il re di Babilonia e la sua terra, come già ho punito il re d’Assiria,	18 So Yahweh Sabaoth, God of Israel, says this: Look, I shall punish the king of Babylon and his countryas I punished the king of Assyria.
19 e ricondurrò Israele nel suo pascolo. Pascolerà sul Carmelo e sul Basan; sulle montagne di Èfraim e di Gàlaad si sazierà.	19 I wil bring Israel back to his pastures to browse on Carmel and in Bashan, on the highlands ofEphraim and in Gilead, and he wil be satisfied.
20 In quei giorni e in quel tempo – oracolo del Signore – si cercherà l’iniquità d’Israele, ma essa non sarà più; si cercheranno i peccati di Giuda, ma non si troveranno, perché io perdonerò al resto che lascerò.	20 In those days and at that time, Yahweh declares, you may look for Israel's guilt, it will not be there, forJudah's sins, you wil not find them, for I shal pardon the remnant that I leave.
21 Avanza nella terra di Meratàim, avanza contro di essa e contro gli abitanti di Pekod. Devasta, annientali – oracolo del Signore –, fa’ quanto ti ho comandato!».	21 March on the country of Merathaim, march on it and on the inhabitants of Pekod; slaughter and cursewith destruction every last one of them, Yahweh declares, carry out my orders to the letter!
22 Rumore di guerra nella regione, e grande disastro.	22 The din of battle fil s the country, immense destruction.
23 Come è stato rotto e fatto in pezzi il martello di tutta la terra? Come è diventata un orrore Babilonia fra le nazioni?	23 How utterly shattered that hammer of the whole world! What a thing of horror Babylon has becomethroughout the nations!
24 Ti ho teso un laccio e sei stata catturata, Babilonia, senza avvedertene. Sei stata sorpresa e afferrata, perché hai fatto guerra al Signore.	24 I set a snare for you, Babylon; you were caught before you knew it. You have been found andoverpowered for having defied Yahweh.
25 Il Signore ha aperto il suo arsenale e ne ha tratto le armi del suo sdegno, perché il Signore, Dio degli eserciti, ha un’opera da compiere nella terra dei Caldei.	25 Yahweh has opened his armoury and taken out the weapons of his fury. For Lord Yahweh Sabaothhas work to do in the country of the Chaldaeans.
26 Venite dall’estremo limite della terra, aprite i suoi granai; fatene dei mucchi come covoni, sterminatela, non ne rimanga neppure un resto.	26 Fal on her from every side, open her granaries, pile her in heaps, curse her with destruction, untilnothing is left of her.
27 Uccidete tutti i suoi tori, scendano al macello. Guai a loro, perché è giunto il loro giorno, il tempo del loro castigo!	27 Slaughter al her bulls, down to the slaughterhouse with them! Disaster on them, their day has come,their time for being punished.
28 Voce di profughi e di scampati dalla terra di Babilonia, per annunciare in Sion la vendetta del Signore, nostro Dio, la vendetta per il suo tempio.	28 Listen! Fugitives and runaways from the country of Babylon arrive in Zion and proclaim the revenge ofYahweh our God, revenge for his Temple!
29 Convocate contro Babilonia gli arcieri, quanti tendono l’arco. Accampatevi intorno ad essa: nessuno scampi. Ripagatela secondo le sue opere, fate a lei quanto essa ha fatto, perché è stata arrogante con il Signore, con il Santo d’Israele.	29 Call up the archers against Babylon! Al you who bend the bow, invest her on al sides, leave her noway of escape. Repay her as her deeds deserve; treat her as she has treated others, for she was arrogant toYahweh, to the Holy One of Israel.
30 «Perciò cadranno i suoi giovani nelle sue piazze e tutti i suoi guerrieri periranno in quel giorno. Oracolo del Signore.	30 And so in her squares her young men wil fall, and all her fighting men wil perish, that day, Yahwehdeclares.
31 Eccomi a te, o arrogante – oracolo del Signore degli eserciti –, poiché è giunto il tuo giorno, il tempo del tuo castigo.	31 My quarrel is with you, 'Arrogance!' Lord Yahweh Sabaoth declares, your day has come, the time forme to punish you.
32 Vacillerà l’arrogante e cadrà, nessuno la rialzerà. Io darò alle fiamme le sue città, esse divoreranno tutti i suoi dintorni».	32 'Arrogance' wil stumble, she will fal , no one wil lift her up: I shal set fire to her towns and it wildevour all around it.
33 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: «Sono oppressi insieme i figli d’Israele e i figli di Giuda; tutti quelli che li hanno deportati li trattengono e rifiutano di lasciarli andare.	33 Yahweh Sabaoth says this: The people of Israel are oppressed (and the people of Judah too), al theircaptors hold them fast, they will not let them go.
34 Ma il loro vendicatore è forte, Signore degli eserciti è il suo nome. Egli sosterrà efficacemente la loro causa, renderà tranquilla la terra e sconvolgerà gli abitanti di Babilonia.	34 But their redeemer is strong: Yahweh Sabaoth is his name. He wil take up their cause, to give ourcountry rest but make the inhabitants of Babylon tremble.
35 Spada sui Caldei – oracolo del Signore – e sugli abitanti di Babilonia, sui suoi capi e sui suoi sapienti!	35 A sword against the Chaldaeans, Yahweh declares, against the inhabitants of Babylon, against herprinces and her sages!
36 Spada sui suoi indovini: che impazziscano! Spada sui suoi prodi: che atterriscano!	36 A sword against her diviners: may they lose their wits! A sword against her warriors: may they panic!
37 Spada sui suoi cavalli e sui suoi carri, su tutta la gentaglia che è in essa: diventino come donnicciole! Spada sui suoi tesori: siano saccheggiati!	37 A sword against her horses, her chariots and the conglomeration of people inside her: may they belike women! A sword against her treasures: may they be plundered!
38 Spada sulle sue acque: si prosciughino! Perché essa è una terra di idoli; vanno pazzi per questi spauracchi.	38 Drought on her waters: may they dry up! For it is a country of idols, and they are mad about those bogeys of theirs!
39 Perciò l’abiteranno animali selvatici e sciacalli, vi si stabiliranno gli struzzi; non sarà mai più abitata né popolata di generazione in generazione.	39 Hence wild cats and jackals wil live there, and ostriches make their home there. She will never againbe inhabited, for ever, but remain uninhabited age after age.
40 Come quando Dio sconvolse Sòdoma, Gomorra e le città vicine – oracolo del Signore –, non vi abiterà alcuna persona né vi dimorerà essere umano.	40 As when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and their neighbouring towns, Yahweh declares, noone will live there any more, no human being settle there again.
41 Ecco, un popolo viene dal settentrione, una grande nazione, e molti re si muovono dalle estremità della terra.	41 Look, a people is coming from the north, a mighty nation; from the far ends of the earth many kingsare stirring.
42 Impugnano archi e lance; sono crudeli, senza pietà. Il loro clamore è quello di un mare agitato e montano cavalli, pronti come un sol uomo alla battaglia contro di te, figlia di Babilonia.	42 They are armed with bow and spear, they are cruel and pitiless; their noise is like the roaring of thesea; they ride horses, ready as one man to fight you, daughter of Babylon!
43 Appena il re di Babilonia ne ha udito la fama, gli sono cadute le braccia; si è impadronita di lui l’angoscia, come gli spasimi di partoriente.	43 The king of Babylon has heard the news, his hands fal limp, anguish has seized him, pain like that ofa woman in labour.
44 Ecco, come un leone sale dalla boscaglia del Giordano verso i prati sempre verdi, così in un baleno io li scaccerò di là e porrò su di esso il mio eletto. Perché chi è come me? Chi può citarmi in giudizio? Chi è dunque il pastore che può resistere davanti a me?»	44 Look, like a lion he climbs the thickets of the Jordan to the perennial pasture! In a flash I shal makethem run away and there appoint someone I shal choose. For who is there like me? Who can hale me intocourt? Name me the shepherd who can stand up to me.
45 Per questo ascoltate il progetto che il Signore ha fatto contro Babilonia e le decisioni che ha preso contro il paese dei Caldei. Certo, trascineranno via anche i più piccoli del gregge e sarà desolato il loro pascolo.	45 So now hear the plan that Yahweh has laid against Babylon, the schemes he has in mind against thecountry of the Chaldaeans: they wil certainly be dragged away like the smallest in the flock! Their pastures willcertainly be sacked before their eyes!
46 Per il fragore della presa di Babilonia si scuoterà la terra, ne risuonerà l’eco fra le nazioni.	46 The earth quakes at the sound of Babylon's capture, and the shouting echoes through the nations.
