BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Allora Giuseppe non poté più trattenersi dinanzi a tutti i circostanti e gridò: «Fate uscire tutti dalla mia presenza!». Così non restò nessun altro presso di lui, mentre Giuseppe si faceva conoscere dai suoi fratelli.	1 Then Joseph could not control his feelings in front of al his retainers, and he exclaimed, 'Let everyoneleave me.' No one therefore was present with him while Joseph made himself known to his brothers,
2 E proruppe in un grido di pianto. Gli Egiziani lo sentirono e la cosa fu risaputa nella casa del faraone.	2 but he wept so loudly that al the Egyptians heard, and the news reached Pharaoh's palace.
3 Giuseppe disse ai fratelli: «Io sono Giuseppe! È ancora vivo mio padre?». Ma i suoi fratelli non potevano rispondergli, perché sconvolti dalla sua presenza.	3 Joseph said to his brothers, 'I am Joseph. Is my father real y stil alive?' His brothers could not answerhim, they were so dumbfounded at seeing him.
4 Allora Giuseppe disse ai fratelli: «Avvicinatevi a me!». Si avvicinarono e disse loro: «Io sono Giuseppe, il vostro fratello, quello che voi avete venduto sulla via verso l’Egitto.	4 Then Joseph said to his brothers, 'Come closer to me.' When they had come closer to him he said, 'Iam your brother Joseph whom you sold into Egypt.
5 Ma ora non vi rattristate e non vi crucciate per avermi venduto quaggiù, perché Dio mi ha mandato qui prima di voi per conservarvi in vita.	5 But now, do not grieve, do not reproach yourselves for having sold me here, since God sent mebefore you to preserve your lives.
6 Perché già da due anni vi è la carestia nella regione e ancora per cinque anni non vi sarà né aratura né mietitura.	6 For this is the second year there has been famine in the country, and there are still five years to comewithout ploughing or harvest.
7 Dio mi ha mandato qui prima di voi, per assicurare a voi la sopravvivenza nella terra e per farvi vivere per una grande liberazione.	7 God sent me before you to assure the survival of your race on earth and to save your lives by a greatdeliverance.
8 Dunque non siete stati voi a mandarmi qui, ma Dio. Egli mi ha stabilito padre per il faraone, signore su tutta la sua casa e governatore di tutto il territorio d’Egitto.	8 So it was not you who sent me here but God, and he has set me up as a father to Pharaoh, as lord ofal his household and governor of the whole of Egypt.
9 Affrettatevi a salire da mio padre e ditegli: “Così dice il tuo figlio Giuseppe: Dio mi ha stabilito signore di tutto l’Egitto. Vieni quaggiù presso di me senza tardare.	9 'Return quickly to your father and tel him, "Your son Joseph says this: 'God has made me lord of alEgypt. Come down to me without delay.
10 Abiterai nella terra di Gosen e starai vicino a me tu con i tuoi figli e i figli dei tuoi figli, le tue greggi e i tuoi armenti e tutti i tuoi averi.	10 You wil live in the region of Goshen where you wil be near me, you, your children and yourgrandchildren, your flocks, your cattle and al your possessions.
11 Là io provvederò al tuo sostentamento, poiché la carestia durerà ancora cinque anni, e non cadrai nell’indigenza tu, la tua famiglia e quanto possiedi”.	11 There I shal provide for you -- for there are five years of famine stil to come -- so that you, yourhousehold and all yours are not reduced to penury.' "
12 Ed ecco, i vostri occhi lo vedono e lo vedono gli occhi di mio fratello Beniamino: è la mia bocca che vi parla!	12 You can see with your own eyes, and my brother Benjamin can see too, that I am who I say I am.
13 Riferite a mio padre tutta la gloria che io ho in Egitto e quanto avete visto; affrettatevi a condurre quaggiù mio padre».	13 Give my father a ful report of al the honour I enjoy in Egypt, and of al you have seen; and quicklybring my father down here.'
14 Allora egli si gettò al collo di suo fratello Beniamino e pianse. Anche Beniamino piangeva, stretto al suo collo.	14 Then throwing his arms round the neck of his brother Benjamin he wept; and Benjamin wept on hisshoulder.
15 Poi baciò tutti i fratelli e pianse. Dopo, i suoi fratelli si misero a conversare con lui.	15 He kissed al his brothers, weeping on each one. Only then were his brothers able to talk to him.
16 Intanto nella casa del faraone si era diffusa la voce: «Sono venuti i fratelli di Giuseppe!» e questo fece piacere al faraone e ai suoi ministri.	16 News reached Pharaoh's palace that Joseph's brothers had come, and Pharaoh was pleased to hearit, as were his servants.
17 Allora il faraone disse a Giuseppe: «Di’ ai tuoi fratelli: “Fate così: caricate le cavalcature, partite e andate nella terra di Canaan.	17 Pharaoh told Joseph, 'Say to your brothers, "Do this: load your beasts and hurry away to Canaan.
18 Prendete vostro padre e le vostre famiglie e venite da me: io vi darò il meglio del territorio d’Egitto e mangerete i migliori prodotti della terra”.	18 Fetch your father and your families, and come back to me. I will give you the best territory in Egypt,where you wil live off the fat of the land."
19 Quanto a te, da’ loro questo comando: “Fate così: prendete con voi dalla terra d’Egitto carri per i vostri bambini e le vostre donne, caricate vostro padre e venite.	19 And you, for your part, give them this order: "Do this: take waggons from Egypt, for your little onesand your wives. Get your father and come.
20 Non abbiate rincrescimento per i vostri beni, perché il meglio di tutta la terra d’Egitto sarà vostro”».	20 Never mind about your property, for the best of all Egypt will be yours." '
21 Così fecero i figli d’Israele. Giuseppe diede loro carri secondo l’ordine del faraone e consegnò loro una provvista per il viaggio.	21 Israel's sons did as they were told. Joseph gave them waggons as Pharaoh had ordered, and hegave them provisions for the journey.
22 Diede a tutti un cambio di abiti per ciascuno, ma a Beniamino diede trecento sicli d’argento e cinque cambi di abiti.	22 To each and every one he gave new clothes, and to Benjamin three hundred shekels of silver andfive changes of clothes.
23 Inoltre mandò al padre dieci asini carichi dei migliori prodotti dell’Egitto e dieci asine cariche di frumento, pane e viveri per il viaggio del padre.	23 And to his father he sent ten donkeys laden with the best that Egypt offered, and ten she-donkeysladen with grain, bread and food for his father's journey.
24 Poi congedò i fratelli e, mentre partivano, disse loro: «Non litigate durante il viaggio!».	24 And so he sent his brothers on their way. His final words to them were, 'And let there be no upsetson the way!'
25 Così essi salirono dall’Egitto e arrivarono nella terra di Canaan, dal loro padre Giacobbe,	25 And so they left Egypt. When they reached their father Jacob in Canaan,
26 e gli riferirono: «Giuseppe è ancora vivo, anzi governa lui tutto il territorio d’Egitto!». Ma il suo cuore rimase freddo, perché non poteva credere loro.	26 they gave him this report, 'Joseph is stil alive. He is at this moment governor of al Egypt!' But hewas as one stunned, for he did not believe them.
27 Quando però gli riferirono tutte le parole che Giuseppe aveva detto loro ed egli vide i carri che Giuseppe gli aveva mandato per trasportarlo, allora lo spirito del loro padre Giacobbe si rianimò.	27 However, when they told him all Joseph had said to them, and when he saw the waggons thatJoseph had sent to fetch him, the spirit of their father Jacob revived,
28 Israele disse: «Basta! Giuseppe, mio figlio, è vivo. Voglio andare a vederlo, prima di morire!».	28 and Israel said, 'That is enough! My son Joseph is stil alive. I must go and see him before I die.'
