BIBBIA CEI 1974	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Colui che vive per sempre ha creato l'intero universo.	1 He that liveth for ever created all things together. God only shall be justified, and he remaineth an invincible king for ever.
2 Il Signore soltanto è riconosciuto giusto.	2 Who is able to declare his works?
3 A nessuno è possibile svelare le sue opere e chi può indagare le sue grandezze?	3 For who shall search out his glorious acts?
4 La potenza della sua maestà chi potrà misurarla? Chi riuscirà a narrare le sue misericordie?	4 And who shall shew forth the power of his majesty? or who shall be able to declare his mercy?
5 Non c'è nulla da togliere e nulla da aggiungere; non è possibile indagare le meraviglie del Signore.	5 Nothing may be taken away, nor added, neither is it possible to find out the glorious works of God:
6 Quando uno ha finito, allora comincia; quando si ferma, allora rimane perplesso.	6 When a man hath done, then shall he begin: and when he leaveth off, he shall be at a loss.
7 Che è l'uomo? E a che può servire? Qual è il suo bene e qual è il suo male?	7 What is man, and what is his grace? and what is his good, or what is his evil?
8 Quanto al numero dei giorni dell'uomo, cento anni sono già molti.	8 The number of the days of men at the most are a hundred years: as a drop of water of the sea are they esteemed: and as a pebble of the sand, so are a few years compared to eternity.
9 Come una goccia d'acqua nel mare e un grano di sabbia così questi pochi anni in un giorno dell'eternità.	9 Therefore God is patient in them, and poureth forth his mercy upon them.
10 Per questo il Signore è paziente con gli uomini e riversa su di essi la sua misericordia.	10 He hath seen the presumption of their heart that it is wicked, and hath known their end that it is evil.
11 Vede e conosce che la loro sorte è misera, per questo moltiplica il perdono.	11 Therefore bath he filled up his mercy in their favour, and hath shewn them the way of justice.
12 La misericordia dell'uomo riguarda il prossimo, la misericordia del Signore ogni essere vivente.	12 The compassion of man is toward his neighbour: but the mercy of God is upon all flesh.
13 Egli rimprovera, corregge, ammaestra e guida come un pastore il suo gregge.	13 He hath mercy, and teacheth, and correcteth, as a shepherd doth his hock.
14 Ha pietà di quanti accettano la dottrina e di quanti sono zelanti per le sue decisioni.	14 He hath mercy on him that receiveth the discipline of mercy, and that maketh haste in his judgments.
15 Figlio, ai benefici non aggiungere il rimprovero, e a ogni dono parole amare.	15 My son, in thy good deeds, make no complaint, and when thou givest any thing, add not grief by an evil word.
16 La rugiada non mitiga forse il calore? Così una parola è più pregiata del dono.	16 Shall not the dew assuage the heat? so also the good word is better than the gift.
17 Ecco, non vale una parola più di un ricco dono? L'uomo caritatevole offre l'una e l'altro.	17 Lo, is not a word better than a gift? but both are with a justified man.
18 Lo stolto rimprovera senza riguardo, il dono dell'invidioso fa languire gli occhi.	18 A fool will upbraid bitterly: and a gift of one ill taught consumeth the eyes.
19 Prima di parlare, impara; curati ancor prima di ammalarti.	19 Before judgment prepare thee justice, and learn before thou speak.
20 Prima del giudizio esamina te stesso, così al momento del verdetto troverai perdono.	20 Before sickness take a medicine, and before judgment examine thyself, and thou shalt find mercy in the sight of God.
21 Umìliati, prima di cadere malato, e quando hai peccato, mostra il pentimento.	21 Humble thyself before thou art sick, and in the time of sickness shew thy conversation.
22 Nulla ti impedisca di soddisfare a tempo un voto, non aspettare fino alla morte per sdebitarti.	22 Let nothing hinder thee from praying always, and be not afraid to be justified even to death: for the reward of God continueth for ever.
23 Prima di fare un voto prepara te stesso, non fare come un uomo che tenta il Signore.	23 Before prayer prepare thy soul: and be not as a man that tempteth God.
24 Pensa all'ira del giorno della morte, al tempo della vendetta, quando egli distoglierà lo sguardo da te.	24 Remember the wrath that shall be at the last day, and the time of repaying when he shall turn away his face.
25 Pensa alla carestia nel tempo dell'abbondanza; alla povertà e all'indigenza nei giorni di ricchezza.	25 Remember poverty is the time of abundance, and the necessities of poverty in the day of riches.
26 Dal mattino alla sera il tempo cambia; e tutto è effimero davanti al Signore.	26 From the morning until the evening the time shall be changed, and all these are swift in the eyes of God.
27 Un uomo saggio è circospetto in ogni cosa; nei giorni del peccato si astiene dalla colpa.	27 A wise man will fear in every thing, and in the days of sine will beware of sloth.
28 Ogni uomo assennato conosce la sapienza e a colui che l'ha trovata rende omaggio.	28 Every man of understanding knoweth wisdom, and will give praise to him that findeth her.
29 Quelli istruiti nel parlare anch'essi diventano saggi, fanno piovere massime eccellenti.	29 They that were of good understanding in words, have also done wisely themselves: and have understood truth and justice, and have poured forth proverbs and judgments.
30 Non seguire le passioni; poni un freno ai tuoi desideri.	30 Go not after thy lusts, but turn away from thy own will.
31 Se ti concedi la soddisfazione della passione, essa ti renderà oggetto di scherno ai tuoi nemici.	31 If thou give to thy soul her desires, she will make thee a joy to thy enemies.
32 Non godere una vita di piaceri, sua conseguenza è una doppia povertà.	32 Take no pleasure in riotous assemblies, be they ever so small: for their concertation is continual.
33 Non impoverire scialacquando con denaro preso a prestito, quando non hai nulla nella borsa.	33 Make not thyself poor by borrowing to contribute to feasts when thou hast nothing in thy purse : for thou shalt be an enemy to thy own life.
