Salmos 106

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 ¡Aleluya! ¡Dad gracias a Yahveh, porque es bueno, porque es eterno su amor!	1 Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, his faithful love is everlasting!
2 ¿Quién dirá las proezas de Yahveh, hará oír toda su alabanza?	2 Who can recount al Yahweh's triumphs, who can ful y voice his praise?
3 ¡Dichosos los que guardan el derecho, los que practican en todo tiempo la justicia!	3 How blessed are those who keep to what is just, whose conduct is always upright!
4 ¡Acuérdate de mí, Yahveh, por amor de tu pueblo; con tu salvación visítame,	4 Remember me, Yahweh, in your love for your people. Come near to me with your saving power,
5 que vea yo la dicha de tus elegidos, me alegre en la alegría de tu pueblo, con tu heredad me felicite!	5 let me share the happiness of your chosen ones, let me share the joy of your people, the pride ofyour heritage.
6 Hemos pecado como nuestros padres, hemos faltado, nos hemos hecho impíos;	6 Like our ancestors, we have sinned, we have acted wickedly, guiltily;
7 nuestros padres, en Egipto, no comprendieron tus prodigios. No se acordaron de tu inmenso amor, se rebelaron contra el Altísimo junto al mar de Suf.	7 our ancestors in Egypt never grasped the meaning of your wonders. They did not bear in mind yourcountless acts of love, at the Sea of Reeds they defied the Most High;
8 El los salvó por amor de su nombre, para dar a conocer su poderío.	8 but for the sake of his name he saved them, to make known his mighty power.
9 Increpó al mar de Suf y éste se secó, los llevó por los abismos como por un desierto,	9 At his rebuke the Sea of Reeds dried up, he let them pass through the deep as though it were desert,
10 los salvó de la mano del que odíaba, de la mano del enemigo los libró.	10 so he saved them from their opponents' clutches, rescued them from the clutches of their enemies.
11 El agua cubrió a sus adversarios, ni uno solo quedó.	11 The waters enveloped their enemies, not one of whom was left.
12 Entonces ellos tuvieron fe en sus palabras y sus laudes cantaron.	12 Then they believed what he had said, and sang his praises.
13 Mas pronto se olvidaron de sus obras, no tuvieron en cuenta su consejo;	13 But they soon forgot his achievements, they did not even wait for his plans;
14 en el desierto ardían de avidez, a Dios tentaban en la estepa.	14 they were overwhelmed with greed in the wastelands, in the solitary wastes they challenged God.
15 El les concedió lo que pedían, mandó fiebre a sus almas.	15 He gave them al they asked for, but struck them with a deep wasting sickness;
16 Y en el campamento, de Moisés tuvieron celos, de Aarón, el santo de Yahveh.	16 in the camp they grew jealous of Moses, and of Aaron, Yahweh's holy one.
17 Se abre la tierra, traga a Datán, y cubre a la cuadrilla de Abirón;	17 The earth opened and swal owed up Dathan, closed in on Abiram's faction;
18 un fuego se enciende contra su cuadrilla, una llama abrasa a los impíos	18 fire flamed out against their faction, the renegades were engulfed in flames.
19 En Horeb se fabricaron un becerro, se postraron ante un metal fundido,	19 At Horeb they made a calf, bowed low before cast metal;
20 y cambiaron su gloria por la imagen de un buey que come heno.	20 they exchanged their glory for the image of a grass-eating bull.
21 Olvidaban a Dios que les salvaba, al autor de cosas grandes en Egipto,	21 They forgot the God who was saving them, who had done great deeds in Egypt,
22 de prodigios en el país de Cam, de portentos en el mar de Suf.	22 such wonders in the land of Ham, such awesome deeds at the Sea of Reeds.
23 Hablaba ya de exterminarlos, si no es porque Moisés, su elegido, se mantuvo en la brecha en su presencia, para apartar su furor de destruirlos.	23 He thought of putting an end to them, had not Moses, his chosen one, taken a stand in the breachand confronted him, to turn his anger away from destroying them.
24 Una tierra de delicias desdeñaron, en su palabra no tuvieron fe;	24 They counted a desirable land for nothing, they put no trust in his promise;
25 murmuraron dentro de sus tiendas, no escucharon la voz de Yahveh.	25 they stayed in their tents and grumbled, they would not listen to Yahweh's voice.
26 Y él, mano en alto, les juró hacerles caer en el desierto,	26 So he lifted his hand against them, to strike them down in the desert,
27 desperdigar su raza entre las naciones, y dispersarlos por los países.	27 to strike down their descendants among the nations, to scatter them al over the world.
28 Luego se vincularon a Baal Peor y comieron sacrificios de muertos.	28 They committed themselves to serve Baal-Peor, and ate sacrifices made to lifeless gods.
29 Así le irritaron con sus obras, y una plaga descargó sobre ellos.	29 They so provoked him by their actions that a plague broke out among them.
30 Entonces surgió Pinjás, zanjó, y la plaga se detuvo;	30 Then up stood Phinehas to intervene, and the plague was checked;
31 esto se le contó como justicia de edad en edad, para siempre.	31 for this he is the example of uprightness, from age to age for ever.
32 En las aguas de Meribá le enojaron, y mal le fue a Moisés por culpa de ellos,	32 At the waters of Meribah they so angered Yahweh, that Moses suffered on their account,
33 pues le amargaron el espíritu, y habló a la ligera con sus labios.	33 for they had embittered his spirit, and he spoke without due thought.
34 No exterminaron a los pueblos que Yahveh les había señalado,	34 They did not destroy the nations, as Yahweh had told them to do,
35 sino que se mezclaron con las gentes, aprendieron sus prácticas.	35 but intermarried with them, and adopted their ways.
36 Sirvieron a sus ídolos que fueron un lazo para ellos;	36 They worshipped those nations' false gods, til they found themselves entrapped,
37 sacrificaban sus hijos y sus hijas a demonios.	37 and sacrificed their own sons and their daughters to demons.
38 Sangre inocente derramaban, la sangre de sus hijos y sus hijas, que inmolaban a los ídolos de Canaán, y fue el país profanado de sangre.	38 Innocent blood they shed, the blood of their sons and daughters; offering them to the idols ofCanaan, they pol uted the country with blood.
39 Así se manchaban con sus obras, y se prostituían con sus prácticas.	39 They defiled themselves by such actions, their behaviour was that of a harlot.
40 Entonces se inflamó la cólera de Yahveh contra su pueblo, y abominó de su heredad.	40 Yahweh's anger blazed out at his people, his own heritage fil ed him with disgust.
41 Los entregó en mano de las gentes, y los dominaron los que los odiaban;	41 He handed them over to the nations, and their opponents became their masters;
42 sus enemigos los tiranizaron, bajo su mano quedaron humillados.	42 their enemies lorded it over them, crushing them under their rule.
43 Muchas veces los libró aunque ellos, en su propósito obstinados, se hundían en su culpa;	43 Time and again he rescued them, but they stil defied him deliberately, and sank ever deeper in theirguilt;
44 y los miró cuando estaban en apuros, escuchando su clamor.	44 even so he took pity on their distress, as soon as he heard them cry out.
45 Se acordó en favor de ellos de su alianza, se enterneció según su inmenso amor;	45 Bearing his covenant with them in mind, he relented in his boundless and faithful love;
46 hizo que de ellos se apiadaran aquellos que cautivos los tenían.	46 he ensured that they received compassion, in their treatment by al their captors.
47 ¡Sálvanos, Yahveh, Dios nuestro, reúnenos de entre las naciones, para dar gracias a tu nombre santo, y gloriarnos en tu alabanza!	47 Save us, Yahweh our God, gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holyname, and may glory in praising you.
48 ¡Bendito sea Yahveh, Dios de Israel, por eternidad de eternidades! Y el pueblo todo diga: ¡Amén!	48 Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, from all eternity and for ever! Let all the people say, 'Amen'.
