BIBLIANEW AMERICAN BIBLE
Bildad de Súaj tomó la palabra y dijo:1 Then Bildad the Shuhite replied and said:
¿Cuándo pondréis freno a las palabras? Reflexionad, y después hablaremos.2 When will you put an end to words? Reflect, and then we can have discussion.
¿Por qué hemos de ser tenidos como bestias, y a vuestros ojos somos impuros?3 Why are we accounted like the beasts, their equals in your sight?
You who tear yourself in your anger, shall the earth be neglected on your account (or the rock be moved out of its place)?
Sí, la luz del malvado ha de apagarse, ya no brillará su ardiente llama.5 Truly, the light of the wicked is extinguished; no flame brightens his hearth.
La luz en su tienda se oscurece, de encima de él se apaga la candela.6 The light is darkened in his tent; in spite of him, his lamp goes out.
Se acortan sus pasos vigorosos, le pierde su propio consejo.7 His vigorous steps are hemmed in, and his own counsel casts him down.
For he rushes headlong into a net, and he wanders into a pitfall.
A noose for him is hid on the ground, and the toils for him on the way.
Por todas partes le estremecen terrores, y le persiguen paso a paso.11 On every side terrors affright him; they harry him at each step.
El hambre es su cortejo, la desgracia se adhiere a su costado.12 Disaster is ready at his side,
Devora el mal su piel, el Primogénito de la Muerte roe sus miembros.13 the first-born of death consumes his limbs.
Se le arranca del seguro de su tienda, se le lleva donde el Rey de los terrores.14 Fiery destruction lodges in his tent, and marches him off to the king of terrors. He is plucked from the security of his tent;
Se ocupa su tienda, ya no suya, se esparce azufre en su morada.15 over his abode brimstone is scattered.
Por abajo se secan sus raíces, por arriba se amustia su ramaje.16 Below, his roots dry up, and above, his branches wither.
Su recuerdo desaparece de la tierra, no le queda nombre en la comarca.17 His memory perishes from the land, and he has no name on the earth.
He is driven from light into darkness, and banished out of the world.
Ni prole ni posteridad tiene en su pueblo, ningún superviviente en sus moradas.19 He has neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any survior where once he dwelt.
De su fin se estremece el Occidente, y el Oriente queda preso de terror.20 They who come after shall be appalled at his fate; they who went before are struck with horror.
So is it then with the dwelling of the impious man, and such is the place of him who knows not God!
