1 Sei giorni dopo Gesù prese con se Pietro, e Giacomo, e Giovanni suo fratello, e li menò separatamente sopra un alto monte.	1 And after six days, Jesus took Peter and James and his brother John, and he led them onto a lofty mountain separately.
2 E fu dinanzi ad essi trasfigurato. E il suo volto era laminoso come il sole: e le sue vesti bianche come la neve.	2 And he was transfigured before them. And his face shined brightly like the sun. And his garments were made white like snow.
3 E a un tratto apparvero ad essi Mosé, ed Elia, i quali discorrevan con lui.	3 And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, speaking with him.
4 E Pietro prendendo la parola disse a Gesù: Signore, buona cosa è per noi lo star qui: se a te piace, facciam qui tre padiglioni, uno per te, uno per Mosé, e uno per Elia.	4 And Peter responded by saying to Jesus: “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you are willing, let us make three tabernacles here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
5 Prima che egli finisse di dire, ecco che una nuvola risplendente gli adombrò. Ed ecco dalla nuvola una voce, che disse: Questi è il mio Figliuolo diletto, nel quale io mi sono compiaciuto; lui ascoltate.	5 And while he was still speaking, behold, a shining cloud overshadowed them. And behold, there was a voice from the cloud, saying: “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.”
6 Udito ciò, i discepoli caddero bocconi per terra, ed ebbero gran timore.	6 And the disciples, hearing this, fell prone on their face, and they were very afraid.
7 Ma Gesù si accostò ad essi, e toccogli, e disse loro: Alzatevi, e non temete.	7 And Jesus drew near and touched them. And he said to them, “Rise up and do not be afraid.”
8 E alzando gli occhi non videro nessuno, fuori del solo Gesù.	8 And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one, except Jesus alone.
9 E nel calare dal monte, Gesù ordinò loro dicendo: Non dite a chicchessia quel, che avete veduto, prima che il Figliuol dell'uomo sia risuscitato da morte.	9 And as they were descending from the mountain, Jesus instructed them, saying, “Tell no one about the vision, until the Son of man has risen from the dead.”
10 E i discepoli lo interrogarono, dicendo: Perché dunque dicono gli Scribi, che prima deve venire Elia?	10 And his disciples questioned him, saying, “Why then do the scribes say that it is necessary for Elijah to arrive first?”
11 Ed egli rispose loro: Certo, che prima è per venire Elia e ordinerà tutte le cose.	11 But in response, he said to them: “Elijah, indeed, shall arrive and restore all things.
12 Ma io vi dico, che Elia, è già venuto, e non lo hanno riconosciuto; ma hanno fatto a lui tutto quello, che han voluto. E nella stessa maniera sarà da essi trattato il Figliuolo dell'uomo.	12 But I say to you, that Elijah has already arrived, and they did not recognize him, but they did whatever they wanted to him. So also shall the Son of man suffer from them.”
13 Allora i discepoli compresero, che aveva loro parlato di Giovanni Batista.	13 Then the disciples understood that he had spoken to them about John the Baptist.
14 Ed essendo egli giunto, dove eran le turbe, se gli accostò un uomo, e si gettò in ginocchio davanti a lui, dicendo: Signore, abbi pietà di mio figlio, perché è lunatico, e soffra molto: imperocché spesso cade nel fuoco, e spesso nell'acqua.	14 And when he had arrived at the multitude, a man approached him, falling to his knees before him, saying: “Lord, take pity on my son, for he is an epileptic, and he suffers harm. For he frequently falls into fire, and often also into water.
15 E io l'ho presentato a' tuoi discepoli, e non hanno potuto sanarlo.	15 And I brought him to your disciples, but they were not able to cure him.”
16 Ma Gesù rispose, e disse: O generazione incredula, e perversa, sino a quando starò con voi? sino a quando vi sopporterò? Menatelo qui da me.	16 Then Jesus responded by saying: “What an unbelieving and perverse generation! How long shall I be with you? How long shall I endure you? Bring him here to me.”
17 E Gesù sgridò il Demonio, e questi usci dal fanciullo, il quale da quel momento fu risanato.	17 And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon went out of him, and the boy was cured from that hour.
18 Allora i discepoli presero in disparte Gesù, e gli dissero: Per qual motivo non abbiam noi potuto scacciarlo?	18 Then the disciples approached Jesus privately and said, “Why were we unable to cast him out?”
19 Rispose loro Gesù: A motivo della vostra incredulità. Imperocché in verità vi dico: Se avrete fede, quanto un granello di senapa, potrete dire a questo morte: Passa da questo a quel luogo, e passerà; e nissuna cosa sarà a voi impossibile.	19 Jesus said to them: “Because of your unbelief. Amen I say to you, certainly, if you will have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it shall move. And nothing will be impossible for you.
20 Ma questa sorta (di demonj) non si discaccia, se non mediante l'orazione, e il digiuno.	20 But this kind is not cast out, except through prayer and fasting.”
21 E mentre trattenevansi nella Galilea, Gesù disse loro: Il Figliuolo dell'uomo ha da esser dato nelle mani degli uomini:	21 And when they were conversing together in Galilee, Jesus said to them: “The Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men.
22 E lo uccideranno, ed ei risorgerà il terzo giorno. Ed essi restarono afflitti sommamente.	22 And they will kill him, but he will rise again on the third day.” And they were extremely saddened.
23 Ed essendo entrati in Cafarnaum, si accontarono a Pietro quelli, che riscuotevano le due dramme, e gli dissero: Il vostro Maestro non paga egli le due dramme?	23 And when they had arrived at Capernaum, those who collected the half shekel approached Peter, and they said to him, “Doesn’t your Teacher pay the half shekel?”
24 Ed ei rispose: Certo che si. Ed entrato che egli fu in casa, Gesù lo prevenne, e gli disse: Che te ne pare, o Simone? Da chi ricevono il tributo, od il censo i re della terra? da' proprj figliuoli, o dagli estranei?	24 He said, “Yes.” And when he had entered into the house, Jesus went before him, saying: “How does it seem to you, Simon? The kings of the earth, from whom do they receive tribute or the census tax: from their own sons or from foreigners?”
25 Dagli estranei, rispose Pietro. E Gestì soggiunsegli: Dunque esenti sono i figliuoli.	25 And he said, “From foreigners.” Jesus said to him: “Then the sons are free.
26 Con tutto ciò per non recare adessi scandalo, va al mare, e getta l'amo; e prendi il primo pesce, che verrà su: e apertagli la bocca, vi troverai uno statere: piglialo, e paga per me e per te.	26 But so that we may not become an obstacle to them: go to the sea, and cast in a hook, and take the first fish that is brought up, and when you have opened its mouth, you will find a shekel. Take it and give it to them, for me and for you.”
