1 Sei giorni dopo Gesù prese con se Pietro, e Giacomo, e Giovanni suo fratello, e li menò separatamente sopra un alto monte.	1 Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led them up a highmountain by themselves.
2 E fu dinanzi ad essi trasfigurato. E il suo volto era laminoso come il sole: e le sue vesti bianche come la neve.	2 There in their presence he was transfigured: his face shone like the sun and his clothes became asdazzling as light.
3 E a un tratto apparvero ad essi Mosé, ed Elia, i quali discorrevan con lui.	3 And suddenly Moses and Elijah appeared to them; they were talking with him.
4 E Pietro prendendo la parola disse a Gesù: Signore, buona cosa è per noi lo star qui: se a te piace, facciam qui tre padiglioni, uno per te, uno per Mosé, e uno per Elia.	4 Then Peter spoke to Jesus. 'Lord,' he said, 'it is wonderful for us to be here; if you want me to, I willmake three shelters here, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.'
5 Prima che egli finisse di dire, ecco che una nuvola risplendente gli adombrò. Ed ecco dalla nuvola una voce, che disse: Questi è il mio Figliuolo diletto, nel quale io mi sono compiaciuto; lui ascoltate.	5 He was stil speaking when suddenly a bright cloud covered them with shadow, and suddenly from thecloud there came a voice which said, 'This is my Son, the Beloved; he enjoys my favour. Listen to him.'
6 Udito ciò, i discepoli caddero bocconi per terra, ed ebbero gran timore.	6 When they heard this, the disciples fel on their faces, overcome with fear.
7 Ma Gesù si accostò ad essi, e toccogli, e disse loro: Alzatevi, e non temete.	7 But Jesus came up and touched them, saying, 'Stand up, do not be afraid.'
8 E alzando gli occhi non videro nessuno, fuori del solo Gesù.	8 And when they raised their eyes they saw no one but Jesus.
9 E nel calare dal monte, Gesù ordinò loro dicendo: Non dite a chicchessia quel, che avete veduto, prima che il Figliuol dell'uomo sia risuscitato da morte.	9 As they came down from the mountain Jesus gave them this order, 'Tel no one about this vision untilthe Son of man has risen from the dead.'
10 E i discepoli lo interrogarono, dicendo: Perché dunque dicono gli Scribi, che prima deve venire Elia?	10 And the disciples put this question to him, 'Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?'
11 Ed egli rispose loro: Certo, che prima è per venire Elia e ordinerà tutte le cose.	11 He replied, 'Elijah is indeed coming, and he wil set everything right again;
12 Ma io vi dico, che Elia, è già venuto, e non lo hanno riconosciuto; ma hanno fatto a lui tutto quello, che han voluto. E nella stessa maniera sarà da essi trattato il Figliuolo dell'uomo.	12 however, I tel you that Elijah has come already and they did not recognise him but treated him asthey pleased; and the Son of man wil suffer similarly at their hands.'
13 Allora i discepoli compresero, che aveva loro parlato di Giovanni Batista.	13 Then the disciples understood that he was speaking of John the Baptist.
14 Ed essendo egli giunto, dove eran le turbe, se gli accostò un uomo, e si gettò in ginocchio davanti a lui, dicendo: Signore, abbi pietà di mio figlio, perché è lunatico, e soffra molto: imperocché spesso cade nel fuoco, e spesso nell'acqua.	14 As they were rejoining the crowd a man came up to him and went down on his knees before him.
15 E io l'ho presentato a' tuoi discepoli, e non hanno potuto sanarlo.	15 'Lord,' he said, 'take pity on my son: he is demented and in a wretched state; he is always fal ing intofire and into water.
16 Ma Gesù rispose, e disse: O generazione incredula, e perversa, sino a quando starò con voi? sino a quando vi sopporterò? Menatelo qui da me.	16 I took him to your disciples and they were unable to cure him.'
17 E Gesù sgridò il Demonio, e questi usci dal fanciullo, il quale da quel momento fu risanato.	17 In reply, Jesus said, 'Faithless and perverse generation! How much longer must I be with you? Howmuch longer must I put up with you? Bring him here to me.'
18 Allora i discepoli presero in disparte Gesù, e gli dissero: Per qual motivo non abbiam noi potuto scacciarlo?	18 And when Jesus rebuked it the devil came out of the boy, who was cured from that moment.
19 Rispose loro Gesù: A motivo della vostra incredulità. Imperocché in verità vi dico: Se avrete fede, quanto un granello di senapa, potrete dire a questo morte: Passa da questo a quel luogo, e passerà; e nissuna cosa sarà a voi impossibile.	19 Then the disciples came privately to Jesus. 'Why were we unable to drive it out?' they asked.
20 Ma questa sorta (di demonj) non si discaccia, se non mediante l'orazione, e il digiuno.	20 He answered, 'Because you have so little faith. In truth I tel you, if your faith is the size of a mustardseed you wil say to this mountain, "Move from here to there," and it wil move; nothing will be impossible foryou.'
21 E mentre trattenevansi nella Galilea, Gesù disse loro: Il Figliuolo dell'uomo ha da esser dato nelle mani degli uomini:	21
22 E lo uccideranno, ed ei risorgerà il terzo giorno. Ed essi restarono afflitti sommamente.	22 When they were together in Galilee, Jesus said to them, 'The Son of man is going to be delivered intothe power of men;
23 Ed essendo entrati in Cafarnaum, si accontarono a Pietro quelli, che riscuotevano le due dramme, e gli dissero: Il vostro Maestro non paga egli le due dramme?	23 they will put him to death, and on the third day he wil be raised up again.' And a great sadness cameover them.
24 Ed ei rispose: Certo che si. Ed entrato che egli fu in casa, Gesù lo prevenne, e gli disse: Che te ne pare, o Simone? Da chi ricevono il tributo, od il censo i re della terra? da' proprj figliuoli, o dagli estranei?	24 When they reached Capernaum, the col ectors of the half-shekel came to Peter and said, 'Does yourmaster not pay the half-shekel?'
25 Dagli estranei, rispose Pietro. E Gestì soggiunsegli: Dunque esenti sono i figliuoli.	25 'Yes,' he replied, and went into the house. But before he could speak, Jesus said, 'Simon, what isyour opinion? From whom do earthly kings take tol or tribute? From their sons or from foreigners?'
26 Con tutto ciò per non recare adessi scandalo, va al mare, e getta l'amo; e prendi il primo pesce, che verrà su: e apertagli la bocca, vi troverai uno statere: piglialo, e paga per me e per te.	26 And when he replied, 'From foreigners,' Jesus said, 'Well then, the sons are exempt.
	27 However, so that we shal not be the downfal of others, go to the lake and cast a hook; take the firstfish that rises, open its mouth and there you wil find a shekel; take it and give it to them for me and for yourself.'
