2 Fatti due trombe di argento battuto al martello, colle quali tu possa avvisare tutta lamoltitudine, quando dee muoversi il campo. | 2 'Make yourself two trumpets; make them of beaten silver, so that you can use them for summoningthe community, and for sounding the order to break camp. |
3 E quando suonerai le trombe, si raunerà da te tutta la moltitudine alla porta deltabernacolo dell'alleanza. | 3 Whenever they are sounded, the whole community must gather round you, at the entrance to theTent of Meeting. |
4 Se suonerai una sola volta, verranno a te i principi, e i capi del popolo d'Israele. | 4 But if only one trumpet is sounded, then only the leaders, the heads of Israel's thousands, mustgather round you. |
5 Se il suono sarà più lungo, e rotto, si metteranno in via i primi, quelli che sono dallaparte d'oriente. | 5 'When the trumpet blast is accompanied by a battle cry, the encampments pitched to the east wil setout. |
6 E ad un simile secondo suono, e grido della tromba, ripiegheranno le tende quelli cheabitano a mezzo giorno: e nella stessa guisa faranno gli altri, ululando le trombe per lapartenza. | 6 At the second blast accompanied by a battle cry, the encampments pitched to the south wil set out.For breaking camp, the trumpet blast wil be accompanied by a battle cry, |
7 Quando poi dee raunarsi il popolo, il suono delle trombe sarà semplice, e non interrotto. | 7 but for assembling the community the trumpets will be sounded without battle cry. |
8 Suonatori delle trombe saranno i sacerdoti figliuoli d'Aronne: questa sarà legge perpetuaper tutta la vostra posterità. | 8 The Aaronite priests wil sound the trumpets; this is a perpetual decree for you and your descendants. |
9 Se uscirete del vostro paese per andare contro i nemici che vi fanno guerra, suonerete letrombe, e il Signore Dio vostro ricorderassi di voi per sottrarvi dalle mani de' vostrinemici | 9 'When in your country you go to war against an enemy who is oppressing you, you will soundtrumpets with a battle cry, and Yahweh your God wil remember you, and you wil be delivered from yourenemies. |
10 Quando ferete banchetto, e ne' giorni festivi, e nelle calende suonerete le trombe nel tempodegli olocausti, e delle vittime pacifiche, affinché faccian memore di voi il vostro Dio. Ioil Signore Dio vostro. | 10 At your festivals, solemnities and new-moon feasts, you will sound the trumpets over your burntofferings and communion sacrifices, so that they recal you to the remembrance of your God. I am Yahweh yourGod.' |

12 E i figliuoli d'Israele divisi nelle loro schiere si partirono dal deserto del Sinai, e lanuvola si arrestò nella solitudine di Pharan. | 12 and the Israelites set out, in marching order, from the desert of Sinai. The cloud came to rest in thedesert of Paran. |

21 Partirono poi i Caathiti portando le cose sante. Si portava il tabernacolo fino a tanto chenon si giungeva al luogo, in cui doveasi erigerlo, | 21 Then came the Kohathites carrying the sanctuary (the Dwel ing was erected before they arrived). |
22 Mossero poi il campo i figliuoli di Ephraim divisi nelle loro schiere, nell'esercito de'quali era principe Elisama figliuolo di Ammiud. | 22 Then came the standard of the camp of the Ephraimites and their units, with Elishama son ofAmmihud commanding that contingent; |
23 Nella tribù de' figliuoli di Manasse era principe Gamaliel figliuolo di Phadassur. | 23 Gamaliel son of Pedahzur commanding the tribal contingent of the Manassehites; |
24 E nella tribù di Beniamin era capo Abidan figliuolo di Gedeone. | 24 and Abidan son of Gideoni commanding the tribal contingent of the Benjaminites. |
25 Gli ultimi a muovere il campo furono i figliuoli di Dan divisi nelle loro schiere,nell'esercito de' quali era principe Ahiezer figliuolo di Ammisaddai. | 25 Last of al , the rearguard of al the camps, came the standard of the camp of the Danites and theirunits, with Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai commanding that contingent; |

27 E nella tribù de' figliuoli di Nepthali era principe Ahira figliuolo di Enan. | 27 and Ahira son of Enan commanding the tribal contingent of the Naphtalites. |
28 Questo è l'ordine, col quale si metteva in viaggio il campo de' figliuoli d'Israele divisonelle sue schiere ogni volta che si movea. | 28 Such was the order of march for the Israelites, unit by unit. So they set out. |
29 E disse Mosè a Hobab figliuolo di Raguel Madianita, suo parente: Noi c'incamminiamo verso illuogo, del quale il Signore ci darà il dominio; vieni. con noi, e ti faremo del bene;perocché il Signore ha promesso del bene a Israele. | 29 Moses said to Hobab son of Reuel the Midianite, his father-in-law, 'We are setting out for the countryof which Yahweh has said: I shall give it to you. Come with us, and we wil treat you wel , for Yahweh haspromised good things for Israel.' |
30 Ma quegli rispose a lui: Non verrò teco, ma tornerò nel mio paese, dove son nato. | 30 'I wil not come with you,' he replied, 'but shal go to my own country and kin.' |
31 E Mosè: Non volere, gli disse, ritirarti da noi, perocché tu sei pratico dei luoghi, neiquali dobbiamo posare il campo nel deserto, e tu sarai nostra guida. | 31 'Do not leave us,' Moses said, 'for you know where we can camp in the desert, and so you will beour eyes. |
32 E se vieni con noi, daremo a te il meglio che si troverà tra le ricchezze, le quali ilSignore darà a noi, | 32 If you come with us, we shal share with you whatever blessings Yahweh gives us.' |
33 Partirono adunque dal monte del Signore, e camminaron tre giorni, e l'arca dell'alleanza delSignore andava innanzi ad essi, segnando loro ne' tre giorni il luogo da posarvi il campo. | 33 They set out from Yahweh's mountain and travel ed for three days, while the ark of the covenant ofYahweh preceded them on the three-day journey, searching out a place for them to halt. |
34 E parimente la nuvola del Signore stava sopra di essi di giorno, mentre camminavano. | 34 In the daytime, Yahweh's cloud was over them, once they had broken camp. |
35 E quando l'arca si alzava, Mosè diceva: Sorgi, o Signore, e sieno dispersi i tuoi nimici, efuggano dal tuo cospetto coloro, che ti odiano. | 35 Whenever the ark set out, Moses would say: Rise, Yahweh, may your enemies be scattered andthose who hate you flee at your approach! |
36 E quando ella si posava, diceva: Torna, o Signore, alla moltitudine dell'esercito d'Israele. | 36 And when it halted, he would say: Come back, Yahweh, to the countless thousands of Israel! |
