Lettera ai Romani 12

BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Io vi esorto dunque, o fratelli, per la misericordia di Dio, ad offrire i vostri corpi in sacrifizio vivente, santo, gradito a Dio, il ragionevole vostro culto.	1 I urge you, then, brothers, remembering the mercies of God, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, dedicated and acceptable to God; that is the kind of worship for you, as sensible people.
2 E non vogliate conformarvi al presente secolo; ma riformate voi stessi col rinnovamento del vostro spirito, per distinguere quale sia la volontà di Dio, buona, gradita e perfetta.	2 Do not model your behaviour on the contemporary world, but let the renewing of your mindstransform you, so that you may discern for yourselves what is the wil of God -- what is good and acceptable andmature.
3 In virtù della grazia che m'è stata data, io dico a ciascuno di voi di non voler sapere più del necessario, ma tanto che basti, secondo la misura di fede che Dio ha distribuito a ciascuno.	3 And through the grace that I have been given, I say this to every one of you: never pride yourself onbeing better than you real y are, but think of yourself dispassionately, recognising that God has given to eachone his measure of faith.
4 Infatti, come in un sol corpo noi abbiamo molte membra, e non tutte le membra hanno la medesima funzione,	4 Just as each of us has various parts in one body, and the parts do not al have the same function:
5 così noi, sebben molti, formiamo un unico corpo in Cristo e individualmente siamo uno membro dell'altro.	5 in the same way, al of us, though there are so many of us, make up one body in Christ, and asdifferent parts we are al joined to one another.
6 Avendo noi dei doni differenti secondo la grazia che ci è stata donata, chi ha la profezia (l'eserciti) secondo la regola della fede;	6 Then since the gifts that we have differ according to the grace that was given to each of us: if it is agift of prophecy, we should prophesy as much as our faith tells us;
7 chi il ministero, amministri; chi l'insegnamento, insegni;	7 if it is a gift of practical service, let us devote ourselves to serving; if it is teaching, to teaching;
8 chi ha l'esortazione, esorti; chi distribuisce (lo faccia) con semplicità; chi presiede, con sollecitudine; chi fa opere di misericordia, con ilarità.	8 if it is encouraging, to encouraging. When you give, you should give generously from the heart; if youare put in charge, you must be conscientious; if you do works of mercy, let it be because you enjoy doing them.
9 La vostra carità non sia fìnta. Odiate il male; affezionatevi al bene.	9 Let love be without any pretence. Avoid what is evil; stick to what is good.
10 Amatevi scambievolmente con amore fraterno, prevenendovi gli uni gli altri nel rendervi onore.	10 In brotherly love let your feelings of deep affection for one another come to expression and regardothers as more important than yourself.
11 Non pigri nello zelo, ferventi nello spirito, servite al Signore.	11 In the service of the Lord, work not halfheartedly but with conscientiousness and an eager spirit.
12 Siate allegri per la speranza, pazienti nella tribolazione, assidui nella preghiera.	12 Be joyful in hope, persevere in hardship; keep praying regularly;
13 Provvedete ai bisogni dei santi; praticate l'ospitalità.	13 share with any of God's holy people who are in need; look for opportunities to be hospitable.
14 Benedite quelli che vi perseguitano: benedite e non vogliate maledire.	14 Bless your persecutors; never curse them, bless them.
15 Rallegratevi con chi gioisce; piangete con chi piange,	15 Rejoice with others when they rejoice, and be sad with those in sorrow.
16 avendo gli stessi sentimenti l'uno per l'altro. Non aspirate alle cose alte, ma adattatevi alle umili, e non vi stimate saggi da voi stessi.	16 Give the same consideration to al others alike. Pay no regard to social standing, but meet humblepeople on their own terms. Do not congratulate yourself on your own wisdom.
17 Non rendete ad alcuno male per male, e cercate di fare il bene non soltanto davanti a Dio, ma amche davanti a tutti gli uomini.	17 Never pay back evil with evil, but bear in mind the ideals that all regard with respect.
18 Se è possibile, per quanto è da voi, vivete in pace con tutti.	18 As much as possible, and to the utmost of your ability, be at peace with everyone.
19 Non vi vendicate da voi stessi, o carissimi, ma lasciate fare all'ira (divina); perchè sta scritto: A me la vendetta; io farò giustizia, dice il Signore.	19 Never try to get revenge: leave that, my dear friends, to the Retribution. As scripture says:Vengeance is mine -- I wil pay them back, the Lord promises.
20 Se pertanto il tuo nemico ha fame, dagli da mangiare; se ha sete, dagli da bere; e tu, così facendo, ammasserai carboni ardenti sopra la sua testa.	20 And more: If your enemy is hungry, give him something to eat; if thirsty, something to drink. By this,you wil be heaping red-hot coals on his head.
21 Non ti lasciar vincere dal male ma vinci col bene il male.	21 Do not be mastered by evil, but master evil with good.
