1 Giosafat re di Giuda se ne tornò in pace a casa sua in Gerusa­lemme;	1 King Jehoshaphat of Judah returned in safety to his house in Jerusalem.
2 ma Iehu, figlio di Anani, il veggente, gli usci incontro e gli disse: « Tu dai aiuto a un empio e stringi amicizia con quelli che odiano il Signore: per questo ti meritavi l'ira del Signore;	2 Jehu the seer, son of Hanani, met King Jehoshaphat and said to him: "Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the LORD? For this reason, wrath is upon you from the LORD.
3 ma si son trovate in te delle opere buone, chè hai tolti via i boschetti sacri dalla terra di Giuda, ed hai preparato il tuo cuore per cercare il Signore Dio dei tuoi padri ».	3 Yet some good things are to be found in you, since you have removed the sacred poles from the land and have been determined to seek God."
4 Giosafat si fermò in Gerusa­lemme, e poi uscì di nuovo a visitare il popolo da Bersabee fino alle montagne d'Efraim, e li richiamò al Signore Dio dei loro padri.	4 Jehoshaphat dwelt in Jerusalem; but he went out again among the people from Beer-sheba to the highlands of Ephraim and brought them back to the LORD, the God of their fathers.
5 Egli stabilì nel paese, in tutte le città forti di Giuda, dei giudici per ciascun luogo.	5 He appointed judges in the land, in all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city,
6 E, dando i suoi ordini ai giudici, disse: « Badate a quel che fate; perchè voi non fate le veci d'un uomo, ma di Dio: tutto ciò che voi avrete giudicato ricadrà sopra di voi.	6 and he said to them: "Take care what you do, for you are judging, not on behalf of man, but on behalf of the LORD; he judges with you.
7 Sia dunque con voi il timore del Signore, e fate ogni cosa con diligenza, perchè presso al Signore Dio nostro non v'è iniquità, nè accettazione di persone, nè bramosia di doni ».	7 And now, let the fear of the LORD be upon you. Act carefully, for with the LORD, our God there is no injustice, no partiality, no bribe-taking."
8 Giosafat anche in Gerusalemme stabilì dei leviti e dei sacerdoti e dei principi delle famiglie d'Israele, affinché giudicassero il giudizio e la causa del Signore per i suoi abitanti.	8 In Jerusalem also, Jehoshaphat appointed some Levites and priests and some of the family heads of Israel to judge in the name of the LORD and to settle quarrels among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
9 E diede loro que­st'ordine: «Voi agirete nel timore del Signore, con fedeltà e con cuore perfetto.	9 He gave them this command: "You shall act faithfully and wholeheartedly in the fear of the LORD.
10 In ogni causa che sarà, portata davanti a voi dai vostri fratelli che abitano nelle loro città, tra famiglia e fa­miglia, e dovunque si tratti di legge, di comandamento, di cerimonie e di ordinazioni, voi li istruirete, chè non pecchino contro il Signore, e l'ira di Dio non sia sopra di voi e sopra i vostri fratelli. Così facendo non peccherete.	10 And in every dispute that your brethren living in their cities bring to you, whether it concerns bloodguilt or questions of law, command, statutes, or judgments, warn them lest they become guilty before the LORD and his wrath come upon you and your brethren. Do that and you shall be guiltless.
11 Amasia, vostro sacerdote e pontefice, presiederà in tutto quello che spetta al Signore; Zabadia figlio d'Ismaele, prin­cipe della casa di Giuda, presiederà in tutti gli affari riguardanti il servizio del re. Avete a vostra disposizione, come maestri, i leviti: fatevi adunque coraggio, siate diligenti, e il Signore sarà con voi e vi farà del bene ».	11 See now, Amariah is high priest over you in everything that pertains to the LORD, and Zebadiah, son of Ishmael, is leader of the house of Judah in all that pertains to the king; and the Levites will be your officials. Act firmly, and the LORD will be with the good."
