Prima lettera ai Corinzi 12

1 Riguardo ai doni dello Spirito, fratelli, non voglio lasciarvi nell’ignoranza.	1 About the gifts of the Spirit, brothers, I want you to be quite certain.
2 Voi sapete infatti che, quando eravate pagani, vi lasciavate trascinare senza alcun controllo verso gli idoli muti.	2 You remember that, when you were pagans, you were irresistibly drawn to inarticulate heathen gods.
3 Perciò io vi dichiaro: nessuno che parli sotto l’azione dello Spirito di Dio può dire: «Gesù è anàtema!»; e nessuno può dire: «Gesù è Signore!», se non sotto l’azione dello Spirito Santo.	3 Because of that, I want to make it quite clear to you that no one who says 'A curse on Jesus' can bespeaking in the Spirit of God, and nobody is able to say, 'Jesus is Lord' except in the Holy Spirit.
4 Vi sono diversi carismi, ma uno solo è lo Spirito;	4 There are many different gifts, but it is always the same Spirit;
5 vi sono diversi ministeri, ma uno solo è il Signore;	5 there are many different ways of serving, but it is always the same Lord.
6 vi sono diverse attività, ma uno solo è Dio, che opera tutto in tutti.	6 There are many different forms of activity, but in everybody it is the same God who is at work in themal .
7 A ciascuno è data una manifestazione particolare dello Spirito per il bene comune:	7 The particular manifestation of the Spirit granted to each one is to be used for the general good.
8 a uno infatti, per mezzo dello Spirito, viene dato il linguaggio di sapienza; a un altro invece, dallo stesso Spirito, il linguaggio di conoscenza;	8 To one is given from the Spirit the gift of utterance expressing wisdom; to another the gift of utteranceexpressing knowledge, in accordance with the same Spirit;
9 a uno, nello stesso Spirito, la fede; a un altro, nell’unico Spirito, il dono delle guarigioni;	9 to another, faith, from the same Spirit; and to another, the gifts of healing, through this one Spirit;
10 a uno il potere dei miracoli; a un altro il dono della profezia; a un altro il dono di discernere gli spiriti; a un altro la varietà delle lingue; a un altro l’interpretazione delle lingue.	10 to another, the working of miracles; to another, prophecy; to another, the power of distinguishingspirits; to one, the gift of different tongues and to another, the interpretation of tongues.
11 Ma tutte queste cose le opera l’unico e medesimo Spirito, distribuendole a ciascuno come vuole.	11 But at work in al these is one and the same Spirit, distributing them at wil to each individual.
12 Come infatti il corpo è uno solo e ha molte membra, e tutte le membra del corpo, pur essendo molte, sono un corpo solo, così anche il Cristo.	12 For as with the human body which is a unity although it has many parts -- al the parts of the body,though many, stil making up one single body -- so it is with Christ.
13 Infatti noi tutti siamo stati battezzati mediante un solo Spirito in un solo corpo, Giudei o Greci, schiavi o liberi; e tutti siamo stati dissetati da un solo Spirito.	13 We were baptised into one body in a single Spirit, Jews as wel as Greeks, slaves as wel as freemen, and we were all given the same Spirit to drink.
14 E infatti il corpo non è formato da un membro solo, ma da molte membra.	14 And indeed the body consists not of one member but of many.
15 Se il piede dicesse: «Poiché non sono mano, non appartengo al corpo», non per questo non farebbe parte del corpo.	15 If the foot were to say, 'I am not a hand and so I do not belong to the body,' it does not belong to thebody any the less for that.
16 E se l’orecchio dicesse: «Poiché non sono occhio, non appartengo al corpo», non per questo non farebbe parte del corpo.	16 Or if the ear were to say, 'I am not an eye, and so I do not belong to the body,' that would not stop itsbelonging to the body.
17 Se tutto il corpo fosse occhio, dove sarebbe l’udito? Se tutto fosse udito, dove sarebbe l’odorato?	17 If the whole body were just an eye, how would there be any hearing? If the whole body were hearing,how would there be any smel ing?
18 Ora, invece, Dio ha disposto le membra del corpo in modo distinto, come egli ha voluto.	18 As it is, God has put al the separate parts into the body as he chose.
19 Se poi tutto fosse un membro solo, dove sarebbe il corpo?	19 If they were al the same part, how could it be a body?
20 Invece molte sono le membra, ma uno solo è il corpo.	20 As it is, the parts are many but the body is one.
21 Non può l’occhio dire alla mano: «Non ho bisogno di te»; oppure la testa ai piedi: «Non ho bisogno di voi».	21 The eye cannot say to the hand, 'I have no need of you,' and nor can the head say to the feet, 'I haveno need of you.'
22 Anzi proprio le membra del corpo che sembrano più deboli sono le più necessarie;	22 What is more, it is precisely the parts of the body that seem to be the weakest which are theindispensable ones.
23 e le parti del corpo che riteniamo meno onorevoli le circondiamo di maggiore rispetto, e quelle indecorose sono trattate con maggiore decenza,	23 It is the parts of the body which we consider least dignified that we surround with the greatest dignity;and our less presentable parts are given greater presentability
24 mentre quelle decenti non ne hanno bisogno. Ma Dio ha disposto il corpo conferendo maggiore onore a ciò che non ne ha,	24 which our presentable parts do not need. God has composed the body so that greater dignity isgiven to the parts which were without it,
25 perché nel corpo non vi sia divisione, ma anzi le varie membra abbiano cura le une delle altre.	25 and so that there may not be disagreements inside the body but each part may be equal y concernedfor all the others.
26 Quindi se un membro soffre, tutte le membra soffrono insieme; e se un membro è onorato, tutte le membra gioiscono con lui.	26 If one part is hurt, al the parts share its pain. And if one part is honoured, all the parts share its joy.
27 Ora voi siete corpo di Cristo e, ognuno secondo la propria parte, sue membra.	27 Now Christ's body is yourselves, each of you with a part to play in the whole.
28 Alcuni perciò Dio li ha posti nella Chiesa in primo luogo come apostoli, in secondo luogo come profeti, in terzo luogo come maestri; poi ci sono i miracoli, quindi il dono delle guarigioni, di assistere, di governare, di parlare varie lingue.	28 And those whom God has appointed in the Church are, first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdlyteachers; after them, miraculous powers, then gifts of healing, helpful acts, guidance, various kinds of tongues.
29 Sono forse tutti apostoli? Tutti profeti? Tutti maestri? Tutti fanno miracoli?	29 Are al of them apostles? Or all prophets? Or all teachers? Or al miracle-workers?
30 Tutti possiedono il dono delle guarigioni? Tutti parlano lingue? Tutti le interpretano?	30 Do al have the gifts of healing? Do al of them speak in tongues and al interpret them?
31 Desiderate invece intensamente i carismi più grandi. E allora, vi mostro la via più sublime.	31 Set your mind on the higher gifts. And now I am going to put before you the best way of all.
