1 M’introdusse poi nell’aula e misurò i pilastri: erano larghi sei cubiti da una parte e sei cubiti dall’altra.	1 He took me to the Hekal and measured its piers: six cubits wide on the one side, six cubits wide on theother.
2 L’ingresso era largo dieci cubiti e i lati dell’ingresso cinque cubiti da una parte e cinque cubiti dall’altra. Misurò quindi l’aula: era lunga quaranta cubiti e larga venti.	2 The width of the entrance was ten cubits, and the returns of the entrance were five cubits on the oneside and five cubits on the other. He measured its length: forty cubits; and its width: twenty cubits.
3 Andò poi nell’interno e misurò i pilastri dell’ingresso, due cubiti, e l’ingresso, sei cubiti; la larghezza dell’ingresso era di sette cubiti.	3 He then went inside and measured the pier at the entrance: two cubits; then the entrance; six cubits;and the returns of the entrance: seven cubits.
4 Ne misurò ancora la lunghezza, venti cubiti e la larghezza, davanti all’aula, venti cubiti; poi mi disse: «Questo è il Santo dei Santi».	4 He measured its length; twenty cubits; and its width against the Hekal: twenty cubits. He then said tome, 'This is the Holy of Holies.'
5 Misurò poi il muro del tempio, sei cubiti; poi la larghezza dell’edificio laterale, quattro cubiti, intorno al tempio.	5 He then measured the wal of the Temple: six cubits. The width of the lateral structure was four cubits,al round the Temple.
6 Le celle laterali erano una sull’altra, trenta per tre piani. Per le celle all’intorno, c’erano, nel muro del tempio, delle rientranze in modo che fossero collegate fra loro, ma non collegate al muro del tempio.	6 The cel s were one above the other in three tiers of thirty cells each. The cells were recessed into thewal , the wal of the structure comprising the cel s, all round, forming offsets; but there were no offsets in the walof the Temple itself.
7 Salendo da un piano all’altro l’ampiezza delle celle aumentava, perciò la costruzione era più larga verso l’alto. Dal piano inferiore si poteva salire al piano di mezzo e da questo a quello più alto.	7 The width of the cel s increased, storey by storey, corresponding to the amount taken in from the wallfrom one storey to the next, all round the Temple.
8 Io vidi intorno al tempio un’elevazione. I basamenti dell’edificio laterale erano di una canna intera di sei cubiti.	8 Then I saw that there was a paved terrace all round the Temple. The height of this, which formed thebase of the side cells, was one complete rod of six cubits.
9 La larghezza del muro esterno dell’edificio laterale era di cinque cubiti, come quella dello spazio rimanente. Fra l’edificio laterale del tempio	9 The outer wal of the side cells was five cubits thick. There was a passage between the cel s of theTemple

11 Gli ingressi dell’edificio laterale rimanevano sullo spazio libero; un ingresso dava a settentrione e uno a mezzogiorno. Lo spazio libero era di cinque cubiti tutt’intorno.	11 As a way in to the lateral cel s on the passage there was one entrance on the north side and oneentrance on the south side. The width of the passage was five cubits right round.
12 La costruzione che era di fronte allo spazio libero sul lato occidentale, aveva settanta cubiti di larghezza; il muro della costruzione era tutt’intorno dello spessore di cinque cubiti, la sua lunghezza di novanta cubiti.	12 The building on the west side of the court was seventy cubits wide, the wal of the building was fivecubits thick al round and its length was ninety cubits.
13 Poi misurò il tempio: lunghezza cento cubiti; lo spazio libero, l’edificio e le sue mura, anch’essi cento cubiti.	13 He measured the length of the Temple: a hundred cubits.

15 Misurò ancora la larghezza dell’edificio di fronte allo spazio libero nella parte retrostante, con le gallerie di qua e di là: era cento cubiti. 18 cherubini e palme. Fra cherubino e cherubino c’era una palma; ogni cherubino aveva due aspetti:	18 were carved great winged creatures and palm trees, one palm tree between two winged creatures;each winged creature had two faces:
19 aspetto d’uomo verso una palma e aspetto di leone verso l’altra palma, effigiati intorno a tutto il tempio.	19 a human face turned towards the palm tree on one side and the face of a lion towards the palm treeon the other side, throughout the Temple, al round.
20 Da terra fin sopra l’ingresso erano disposti cherubini e palme sulle pareti del santuario.	20 Winged creatures and palm trees were carved on the wal from the floor to above the entrance.
21 Gli stipiti dell’aula erano quadrangolari. Davanti al santuario c’era come	21 The doorposts of the Temple were square. In front of the sanctuary there was something like
