Geremia 1

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Parole di Geremia, figlio di Chelkia, uno dei sacerdoti che risiedevano ad Anatòt, nel territorio di Beniamino.	1 The words of Jeremiah son of Hilkiah, one of the priests living at Anathoth in the territory of Benjamin.
2 A lui fu rivolta la parola del Signore al tempo di Giosia, figlio di Amon, re di Giuda, l’anno tredicesimo del suo regno,	2 The word of Yahweh came to him in the days of Josiah son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenthyear of his reign;
3 e successivamente anche al tempo di Ioiakìm, figlio di Giosia, re di Giuda, fino alla fine dell’anno undicesimo di Sedecìa, figlio di Giosia, re di Giuda, cioè fino alla deportazione di Gerusalemme, avvenuta nel quinto mese di quell’anno.	3 then in the days of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiahson of Josiah, king of Judah, until the deportation of Jerusalem, in the fifth month.
4 Mi fu rivolta questa parola del Signore:	4 The word of Yahweh came to me, saying:
5 «Prima di formarti nel grembo materno, ti ho conosciuto, prima che tu uscissi alla luce, ti ho consacrato; ti ho stabilito profeta delle nazioni».	5 'Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you came to birth I consecrated you; I appointedyou as prophet to the nations.'
6 Risposi: «Ahimè, Signore Dio! Ecco, io non so parlare, perché sono giovane».	6 I then said, 'Ah, ah, ah, Lord Yahweh; you see, I do not know how to speak: I am only a child!'
7 Ma il Signore mi disse: «Non dire: “Sono giovane”. Tu andrai da tutti coloro a cui ti manderò e dirai tutto quello che io ti ordinerò.	7 But Yahweh replied, 'Do not say, "I am only a child," for you must go to all to whom I send you and saywhatever I command you.
8 Non aver paura di fronte a loro, perché io sono con te per proteggerti». Oracolo del Signore.	8 Do not be afraid of confronting them, for I am with you to rescue you, Yahweh declares.'
9 Il Signore stese la mano e mi toccò la bocca, e il Signore mi disse: «Ecco, io metto le mie parole sulla tua bocca.	9 Then Yahweh stretched out his hand and touched my mouth, and Yahweh said to me: 'There! I have putmy words into your mouth.
10 Vedi, oggi ti do autorità sopra le nazioni e sopra i regni per sradicare e demolire, per distruggere e abbattere, per edificare e piantare».	10 Look, today I have set you over the nations and kingdoms, to uproot and to knock down, to destroy andto overthrow, to build and to plant.'
11 Mi fu rivolta questa parola del Signore: «Che cosa vedi, Geremia?». Risposi: «Vedo un ramo di mandorlo».	11 The word of Yahweh came to me, asking, 'Jeremiah, what do you see?' I answered, 'I see a branch ofthe Watchful Tree.'
12 Il Signore soggiunse: «Hai visto bene, poiché io vigilo sulla mia parola per realizzarla».	12 Then Yahweh said, 'Wel seen, for I am watching over my word to perform it.'
13 Mi fu rivolta di nuovo questa parola del Signore: «Che cosa vedi?». Risposi: «Vedo una pentola bollente, la cui bocca è inclinata da settentrione».	13 A second time the word of Yahweh came to me, asking, 'What do you see?' I answered, 'I see acooking pot on the boil, with its mouth tilting from the north.'
14 Il Signore mi disse: «Dal settentrione dilagherà la sventura su tutti gli abitanti della terra.	14 Then Yahweh said: 'From the north disaster wil come boiling over on all who live in the country,
15 Poiché, ecco, io sto per chiamare tutti i regni del settentrione. Oracolo del Signore. Essi verranno e ognuno porrà il proprio trono alle porte di Gerusalemme, contro le sue mura, tutt’intorno, e contro tutte le città di Giuda.	15 for I am now summoning al the families of the kingdoms of the north, Yahweh declares. They wilcome, and each wil set his throne in front of the gates of Jerusalem, al round, against its wal s and against althe towns of Judah.
16 Allora pronuncerò i miei giudizi contro di loro, per tutta la loro malvagità, poiché hanno abbandonato me e hanno sacrificato ad altri dèi e adorato idoli fatti con le proprie mani.	16 I shal pronounce my judgements on them because of al their wickedness, since they have abandonedme, offering incense to other gods and worshipping what their own hands have made.
17 Tu, dunque, stringi la veste ai fianchi, àlzati e di’ loro tutto ciò che ti ordinerò; non spaventarti di fronte a loro, altrimenti sarò io a farti paura davanti a loro.	17 'As for you, prepare yourself for action. Stand up and tel them al I command you. Have no fear ofthem and in their presence I wil make you fearless.
18 Ed ecco, oggi io faccio di te come una città fortificata, una colonna di ferro e un muro di bronzo contro tutto il paese, contro i re di Giuda e i suoi capi, contro i suoi sacerdoti e il popolo del paese.	18 For look, today I have made you into a fortified city, a pil ar of iron, a wal of bronze to stand against thewhole country: the kings of Judah, its princes, its priests and the people of the country.
19 Ti faranno guerra, ma non ti vinceranno, perché io sono con te per salvarti». Oracolo del Signore.	19 They will fight against you but wil not overcome you, for I am with you, Yahweh declares, to rescueyou.'
