BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Onora il medico per le sue prestazioni, perché il Signore ha creato anche lui.	1 Treat the doctor with the honour that is his due, in consideration of his services; for he too has beencreated by the Lord.
2 Dall’Altissimo infatti viene la guarigione, e anche dal re egli riceve doni.	2 Healing itself comes from the Most High, like a gift received from a king.
3 La scienza del medico lo fa procedere a testa alta, egli è ammirato anche tra i grandi.	3 The doctor's learning keeps his head high, and the great regard him with awe.
4 Il Signore ha creato medicamenti dalla terra, l’uomo assennato non li disprezza.	4 The Lord has brought forth medicinal herbs from the ground, and no one sensible wil despise them.
5 L’acqua non fu resa dolce per mezzo di un legno, per far conoscere la potenza di lui?	5 Did not a piece of wood once sweeten the water, thus giving proof of its power?
6 Ed egli ha dato agli uomini la scienza perché fosse glorificato nelle sue meraviglie.	6 He has also given some people knowledge, so that they may draw credit from his mighty works.
7 Con esse il medico cura e toglie il dolore,	7 He uses these for healing and relieving pain; the druggist makes up a mixture from them.
8 con queste il farmacista prepara le misture. Certo non verranno meno le opere del Signore; da lui proviene il benessere sulla terra.	8 Thus, there is no end to his activities; thanks to him, well-being exists throughout the world.
9 Figlio, non trascurarti nella malattia, ma prega il Signore ed egli ti guarirà.	9 My child, when you are il , do not rebel, but pray to the Lord and he wil heal you.
10 Allontana l’errore, regola le tue mani, purifica il cuore da ogni peccato.	10 Renounce your faults, keep your hands unsoiled, and cleanse your heart from al sin.
11 Offri l’incenso e un memoriale di fior di farina e sacrifici pingui secondo le tue possibilità.	11 Offer incense and a memorial of fine flour, make as rich an offering as you can afford.
12 Poi ricorri pure al medico, perché il Signore ha creato anche lui: non stia lontano da te, poiché c’è bisogno di lui.	12 Then let the doctor take over -- the Lord created him too -- do not let him leave you, for you need him.
13 Ci sono casi in cui il successo è nelle loro mani;	13 There are times when good health depends on doctors.
14 anch’essi infatti pregano il Signore perché conceda loro di dare sollievo e guarigione per salvare la vita.	14 For they, in their turn, wil pray the Lord to grant them the grace to relieve and to heal, and so prolongyour life.
15 Chi pecca contro il proprio creatore cada nelle mani del medico.	15 Whoever sins in the eyes of his Maker, let such a one come under the care of the doctor!
16 Figlio, versa lacrime sul morto, e come uno che soffre profondamente inizia il lamento; poi seppelliscine il corpo secondo le sue volontà e non trascurare la sua tomba.	16 My child, shed tears over the dead, lament for the dead to show your sorrow, then bury the body withdue ceremony and do not fail to honour the grave.
17 Piangi amaramente e alza il tuo caldo lamento, il lutto sia proporzionato alla sua dignità, un giorno o due per evitare maldicenze, poi consólati del tuo dolore.	17 Weep bitterly, beat your breast, observe the mourning the dead deserves for a day or two, to avoidcensorious comment, and then be comforted in your sorrow;
18 Infatti dal dolore esce la morte, il dolore del cuore logora la forza.	18 for grief can lead to death, a grief-stricken heart loses al energy.
19 Nella disgrazia resta il dolore, una vita da povero è maledizione del cuore.	19 In affliction sorrow persists, a life of grief is hard to bear.
20 Non abbandonare il tuo cuore al dolore, scaccialo ricordando la tua fine.	20 Do not abandon your heart to grief, drive it away, bear your own end in mind.
21 Non dimenticare che non c’è ritorno; a lui non gioverai e farai del male a te stesso.	21 Do not forget, there is no coming back; you cannot help the dead, and you will harm yourself.
22 Ricòrdati della mia sorte, che sarà anche la tua: ieri a me e oggi a te.	22 'Remember my doom, since it will be yours too; I yesterday, you today!'
23 Nel riposo del morto lascia riposare anche il suo ricordo; consólati di lui, ora che il suo spirito è partito.	23 Once the dead are laid to rest, let their memory rest, do not fret for them, once their spirit departs.
24 La sapienza dello scriba sta nel piacere del tempo libero, chi si dedica poco all’attività pratica diventerà saggio.	24 Leisure gives the scribe the chance to acquire wisdom; a man with few commitments can grow wise.
25 Come potrà divenire saggio chi maneggia l’aratro e si vanta di brandire un pungolo, spinge innanzi i buoi e si occupa del loro lavoro e parla solo di vitelli?	25 How can the ploughman become wise, whose sole ambition is to wield the goad, driving his oxen,engrossed in their work, his conversation limited to bul ocks,
26 Dedica il suo cuore a tracciare solchi e non dorme per dare il foraggio alle giovenche.	26 his thoughts absorbed in the furrows he traces and his long evenings spent in fattening heifers?
27 Così ogni artigiano e costruttore che passa la notte come il giorno: quelli che incidono immagini per sigilli e con pazienza cercano di variare le figure, dedicano il cuore a riprodurre bene il disegno e stanno svegli per terminare il lavoro.	27 Similarly with al workmen and craftsmen, toiling day and night; those who engrave seals, for evertrying to think of a new design, concentrating on catching a good likeness and staying up late to get the workdone.
28 Così il fabbro che siede vicino all’incudine ed è intento al lavoro del ferro: la vampa del fuoco gli strugge le carni, e col calore della fornace deve lottare; il rumore del martello gli assorda gli orecchi, i suoi occhi sono fissi sul modello di un oggetto, dedica il suo cuore a finire il lavoro e sta sveglio per rifinirlo alla perfezione.	28 Similarly with the blacksmith sitting by his anvil; he considers what to do with the pig-iron, the breath ofthe fire scorches his skin, as he contends with the heat of the furnace; the noise of the hammer deafens him, hiseyes are fixed on the pattern; he concentrates on getting the job done wel and stays up late to apply thefinishing touches.
29 Così il vasaio che è seduto al suo lavoro e con i suoi piedi gira la ruota, è sempre in ansia per il suo lavoro, si affatica a produrre in gran quantità.	29 Similarly with the potter, sitting at his work, turning the wheel with his feet; constantly on the alert overhis work, each flick of the finger premeditated;
30 Con il braccio imprime una forma all’argilla, mentre con i piedi ne piega la resistenza; dedica il suo cuore a una verniciatura perfetta e sta sveglio per pulire la fornace.	30 he pummels the clay with his arm, and with his feet he kneads it; he concentrates on applying theglaze right and stays up late to clean the kiln.
31 Tutti costoro confidano nelle proprie mani, e ognuno è abile nel proprio mestiere.	31 Al these people rely on their hands and each is skilled at his own craft.
32 Senza di loro non si costruisce una città, nessuno potrebbe soggiornarvi o circolarvi. Ma essi non sono ricercati per il consiglio del popolo,	32 A town could not be inhabited without them, there would be no settling, no travel ing.
33 nell’assemblea non hanno un posto speciale, non siedono sul seggio del giudice e non conoscono le disposizioni della legge. Non fanno brillare né l’istruzione né il diritto, non compaiono tra gli autori di proverbi,	33 But you wil not find them in the parliament, they do not hold high rank in the assembly. They do not siton the judicial bench, and they do not meditate on the Law.
34 ma essi consolidano la costruzione del mondo, e il mestiere che fanno è la loro preghiera. Differente è il caso di chi si applica a meditare la legge dell’Altissimo.	34 They are not remarkable for their culture or judgement, nor are they found frequenting thephilosophers. They sustain the structure of the world, and their prayer is concerned with their trade.
