1 Amo Jahvè perché esaudì la voce della mia implorazione,	1 I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my supplications.
2 perché piegò a me il suo orecchio. E nei miei giorni gridavo:	2 Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live.
3 «Mi circondano lacci di morte e le spire dello Sheol mi hanno raggiunto; ho incontrato oppressione e dolore!»	3 The snares of death encompassed me; the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me; I suffered distress and anguish.
4 E invocavo il nome di Jahvè: «Deh, Jahvè, scampa la mia vita!»	4 Then I called on the name of the LORD: "O LORD, I beseech thee, save my life!"
5 pietoso è Jahvè e giusto e il nostro Dio è compassionevole.	5 Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; our God is merciful.
6 Custodisci i semplici Jahvè; languivo e mi salvò.	6 The LORD preserves the simple; when I was brought low, he saved me.
7 Torna, anima mia, a quietarti poiché Jahvè fu buono con te.	7 Return, O my soul, to your rest; for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you.
8 Sì, tu hai liberato la mia anima dalla morte, il mio occhio dal pianto, il mio piede dall’inciampo.	8 For thou hast delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling;
9 Posso ora camminare al cospetto di Jahvè nella terra dei viventi.	9 I walk before the LORD in the land of the living.
10 Nutrivo fiducia quando esclamavo: «Io sono assai afflitto!»	10 I kept my faith, even when I said, "I am greatly afflicted";
11 Quando dicevo nel mio trepidare: «Ogni uomo è infido!»	11 I said in my consternation, "Men are all a vain hope."
12 Che cosa ricambierò a Jahvè per tutti i benefici su di me?	12 What shall I render to the LORD for all his bounty to me?
13 Leverò la coppa della salvezza e invocherò il nome di Jahvè.	13 I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD,
14 Scioglierò a Jahvè i miei voti al cospetto di tutto il popolo.	14 I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people.
15 Preziosa è agli occhi di Jahvè la morte dei suoi fedeli.	15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
16 Grazia, Jahvè, perché io sono il tuo servitore, io il tuo servitore, figlio della tua schiava; tu hai sciolto le mie catene.	16 O LORD, I am thy servant; I am thy servant, the son of thy handmaid. Thou hast loosed my bonds.
17 A te sacrificherò un sacrificio di lode e invocherò il nome di Jahvè.	17 I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD.
18 I miei voti scioglierò a Jahvè al cospetto di tutto il popolo.	18 I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people,
19 Negli atri della casa di Jahvè, nel tuo mezzo, o Gerusalemme. Alleluia.	19 in the courts of the house of the LORD, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD!
