1 Wer Zucht liebt, liebt Erkenntnis, wer Zurechtweisung hasst, ist dumm.	1 He who loves correction loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid.
2 Der Gute findet Gefallen beim Herrn, den Heimtückischen aber spricht er schuldig.	2 The good man wins favor from the LORD, but the schemer is condemned by him.
3 Wer unrecht tut, hat keinen Bestand, doch die Wurzel der Gerechten sitzt fest.	3 No man is built up by wickedness, but the root of the just will never be disturbed.
4 Eine tüchtige Frau ist die Krone ihres Mannes, eine schändliche ist wie Fäulnis in seinen Knochen.	4 A worthy wife is the crown of her husband, but a disgraceful one is like rot in his bones.
5 Die Gedanken der Gerechten trachten nach Recht, die Pläne der Frevler sind auf Betrug aus.	5 The plans of the just are legitimate; the designs of the wicked are deceitful.
6 Die Reden der Frevler sind ein Lauern auf Blut, die Redlichen rettet ihr Mund.	6 The words of the wicked are a deadly ambush, but the speech of the upright saves them.
7 Die Frevler werden gestürzt und sind dahin, das Haus der Gerechten hat Bestand.	7 The wicked are overthrown and are no more, but the house of the just stands firm.
8 Nach dem Maß seiner Klugheit wird ein jeder gelobt, verkehrter Sinn fällt der Verachtung anheim.	8 According to his good sense a man is praised, but one with a warped mind is despised.
9 Besser unbeachtet bleiben und seine Arbeit verrichten, als großtun und kein Brot haben.	9 Better a lowly man who supports himself than one of assumed importance who lacks bread.
10 Der Gerechte weiß, was sein Vieh braucht, doch das Herz der Frevler ist hart.	10 The just man takes care of his beast, but the heart of the wicked is merciless.
11 Wer sein Feld bestellt, wird satt von Brot, wer nichtigen Dingen nachjagt, ist ohne Verstand.	11 He who tills his own land has food in plenty, but he who follows idle pursuits is a fool.
12 Schwankender Lehm ist die Burg der Bösen, die Wurzel der Gerechten hat festen Grund.	12 The stronghold of evil men will be demolished, but the root of the just is enduring.
13 Der Böse verfängt sich im Lügengespinst, der Gerechte entkommt der Bedrängnis.	13 In the sin of his lips the evil man is ensnared, but the just comes free of trouble.
14 Von der Frucht seines Mundes wird der Mensch reichlich gesättigt, nach dem Tun seiner Hände wird ihm vergolten.	14 From the fruit of his words a man has his fill of good things, and the work of his hands comes back to reward him.
15 Der Tor hält sein eigenes Urteil für richtig, der Weise aber hört auf Rat.	15 The way of the fool seems right in his own eyes, but he who listens to advice is wise.
16 Der Tor zeigt sogleich seinen Ärger, klug ist, wer Schimpfworte einsteckt.	16 The fool immediately shows his anger, but the shrewd man passes over an insult.
17 Wer Wahrheit spricht, sagt aus, was recht ist, der falsche Zeuge aber betrügt.	17 He tells the truth who states what he is sure of, but a lying witness speaks deceitfully.
18 Mancher Leute Gerede verletzt wie Schwertstiche, die Zunge der Weisen bringt Heilung.	18 The prating of some men is like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise is healing.
19 Ein Mund, der die Wahrheit sagt, hat für immer Bestand, eine lügnerische Zunge nur einen Augenblick.	19 Truthful lips endure forever, the lying tongue, for only a moment.
20 Wer auf Böses sinnt, betrügt sich selbst, wer heilsamen Rat gibt, erntet Freude.	20 Deceit is in the hands of those who plot evil, but those who counsel peace have joy.
21 Kein Unheil trifft den Gerechten, doch die Frevler erdrückt das Unglück.	21 No harm befalls the just, but the wicked are overwhelmed with misfortune.
22 Lügnerische Lippen sind dem Herrn ein Gräuel, doch wer zuverlässig ist in seinem Tun, der gefällt ihm.	22 Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD, but those who are truthful are his delight.
23 Ein kluger Mensch verbirgt sein Wissen, das Herz der Toren schreit die Narrheit hinaus.	23 A shrewd man conceals his knowledge, but the hearts of fools gush forth folly.
24 Die Hand der Fleißigen erringt die Herrschaft, die lässige Hand muss Frondienste leisten.	24 The diligent hand will govern, but the slothful will be enslaved.
25 Kummer im Herzen bedrückt den Menschen, ein gutes Wort aber heitert ihn auf.	25 Anxiety in a man's heart depresses it, but a kindly word makes it glad.
