1 E' simile il regno de' cieli a un padre di famiglia, il quale andò di gran mattino a fermare de' lavoratori per la sua vigna.	1 “The kingdom of heaven is like the father of a family who went out in early morning to lead workers into his vineyard.
2 Ed avendo convenuto co' lavoratori a un denaro per giorno, mandogli alla sua vigna.	2 Then, having made an agreement with the workers for one denarius per day, he sent them into his vineyard.
3 Ed essendo uscito fuora circa all'ora terza, ne vide degli altri, che se ne stavano per la piazza senza far nulla;	3 And going out about the third hour, he saw others standing idle in the marketplace.
4 E disse loro: Andate anche voi nella mia vigna, e darovvi quel, che sarà di ragione.	4 And he said to them, ‘You may go into my vineyard, too, and what I will give you will be just.’
5 E quegli andarono. Uscì anche di bel nuovo circa l'ora sesta, e la nona, e fece l'istesso.	5 So they went forth. But again, he went out about the sixth, and about the ninth hour, and he acted similarly.
6 Circa l'undecima poi uscì, e trovonne degli altri, che stavano a vedere, e disse loro: Perché state qui tutto il giorno in ozio?	6 Yet truly, about the eleventh hour, he went out and found others standing, and he said to them, ‘Why have you stood here idle all day?’
7 Quelli risposero: Perché nissuno ci ha presi a giornata. Ed egli disse loro: Andate anche voi nella mia vigna.	7 They say to him, ‘Because no one has hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You also may go into my vineyard.’
8 Venuta la sera, il padron della vigna disse al suo fattore: Chiama i lavoratori, e paga ad essi la mercede, cominciando dagli ultimi sino ai primi.	8 And when evening had arrived, the lord of the vineyard said to his manager, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning from the last, even to the first.’
9 Venuti adunque quelli, che erano andati circa l'undecima ora, ricevettero un denaro per ciascheduno.	9 And so, when those who had arrived about the eleventh hour came forward, each received a single denarius.
10 Venuti poi anohe i primi si pensarono di ricever di più: ma ebbero anch'essi un denaro per uno.	10 Then when the first ones also came forward, they considered that they would receive more. But they, too, received one denarius.
11 E ricevutolo mormoravano contro del padre di famiglia,	11 And upon receiving it, they murmured against the father of the family,
12 Dicendo: Questi ultimi hanno lavorato un'ora, e gli hai uguagliati a noi, che abbiam portato il peso della giornata, e del caldo.	12 saying, ‘These last have worked for one hour, and you have made them equal to us, who worked bearing the weight and heat of the day.’
13 Ma egli rispose a uno di loro, e disse: Amico, io non ti fo ingiustizia e non hai tu convenuto meco a un denaro?	13 But responding to one of them, he said: ‘Friend, I caused you no injury. Did you not agree with me to one denarius?
14 Piglia il tuo, e vattene: io voglio dare anche a quest'ultimo quanto a te.	14 Take what is yours and go. But it is my will to give to this last, just as to you.
15 Non posso io adunque far quel, che mi piace? od è cattivo il tuo occhio, perch'io son buono?	15 And is it not lawful for me to do what I will? Or is your eye wicked because I am good?’
16 Così saranno ultimi i primi, e primi gli ultimi: imperocché molti sono i chiamati, ma pochi gli eletti.	16 So then, the last shall be first, and the first shall be last. For many are called, but few are chosen.”
17 E andandosene Gesù a Gerusalemme, presi in disparte i dodici discepoli, disse loro:	17 And Jesus, ascending to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples aside in private and said to them:
18 Ecco, che andiamo a Gerusalemme, e il Figliuolo dell'uomo sarà dato nelle mani de' principi de' sacerdoti, e degli Scribi, e lo condanneranno a morte:	18 “Behold, we are ascending to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be handed over to the leaders of the priests and to the scribes. And they shall condemn him to death.
19 E lo daranno in balìa de' gentili per essere schernito, e flagellato, e crocifisso, ed egli risorgerà il terzo giorno.	19 And they shall hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified. And on the third day, he shall rise again.”
20 Allora si accostò a lui la madre de' figliuoli di Zebedeo co' suoi figliuoli, adorandolo, e domandandogli qualche cosa.	20 Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee approached him, with her sons, adoring him, and petitioning something from him.
21 Ed egli le disse: Che vuoi tu? Quella gli rispose: Ordina, che seggano questi due miei figliuoli, uno alla destra, l'altro alla tua sinistra nel tuo regno.	21 And he said to her, “What do you want?” She said to him, “Declare that these, my two sons, may sit, one at your right hand, and the other at your left, in your kingdom.”
22 Gesù rispose, e disse: Non sapete quello, che domandiate. Potete voi bere il calice, che berrò io? Gli risposer: Possiamo.	22 But Jesus, responding, said: “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink from the chalice, from which I will drink?” They said to him, “We are able.”
23 Disse loro: Si, che berrete il calice mio: ma per quel, che è di sedere alla mia destra, o alla sinistra, non tocca a me il concedervelo, ma (sarà) per quegli, a' quali è stato preparato dal Padre mio.	23 He said to them: “From my chalice, indeed, you shall drink. But to sit at my right or my left is not mine to give to you, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.”
24 Udito ciò i dieci, si adirarono co' due fratelli.	24 And the ten, upon hearing this, became indignant with the two brothers.
25 Ma Gesù chiamatigli a se, disse loro: Voi sapete, che i principi delle nazioni la fan da padroni sopra di esse, e i loro magnati le governano con autorità.	25 But Jesus called them to himself and said: “You know that the first ones among the Gentiles are their rulers, and that those who are greater exercise power among them.
26 Non così sarà di voi: ma chiunque vorrà tra di voi essere più grande, sarà vostro ministro:	26 It shall not be this way among you. But whoever will want to be greater among you, let him be your minister.
27 E chi tra di voi vorrà essere il primo, sarò vostro servo:	27 And whoever will want to be first among you, he shall be your servant,
28 Siccome il Figliuolo dell'uomo non è venuto per essere servito, ma per servire, e dare la sua vita in redenzione per molti.	28 even as the Son of man has not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a redemption for many.”
29 E nell' uscir, che facevan di Gerico, andò dietro a lui una gran turba di popolo:	29 And as they were departing from Jericho, a great crowd followed him.
30 Quand' ecco, che due ciechi, i quali stavan a sedere lungo la strada, avendo udito dire, che passava Gesù, alzaron la voce, dicendo: Signore, figliuolo di David, abbi pietà di noi.	30 And behold, two blind men, sitting by the way, heard that Jesus was passing by; and they cried out, saying, “Lord, Son of David, take pity on us.”
31 Ma il popolo gli sgridava, che, stesser cheti. Eglino però più forte gridavano, dicendo: Signore, figliuolo di David, abbi pietà di noi.	31 But the crowd rebuked them to be quiet. But they cried out all the more, saying, “Lord, Son of David, take pity on us.”
32 E Gesù soffermossi, e gli chiamò, e disse loro: Che volete, che io vi faccia?	32 And Jesus stood still, and he called them and said, “What do you want, that I might do for you?”
33 Signore, risposer essi, che si aprano gli occhi nostri.	33 They said to him, “Lord, that our eyes be opened.”
34 E Gesù mosso a compassione di essi, toccò i loro occhi: e subito videro, e lo seguitarono.	34 Then Jesus, taking pity on them, touched their eyes. And immediately they saw, and they followed him.
