Proverbi 31

BIBBIA MARTINI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Parole del re Lamuele. Profezia, colla quale lo istruì la sua madre.	1 The sayings of Lemuel king of Massa, taught him by his mother:
2 E che, o mio diletto? e che, o caro frutto del mio seno? e che, o amato oggetto de' voti miei?	2 What, my son! What, son of my womb! What, son of my vows!
3 Non consumare il tuo bene nelle donne, nè le tue ricchezze in quello che fa lo sterminio dei re.	3 Do not expend your energy on women nor your wealth on those who ruin kings.
4 Non permettere ai re, o Lamuele, non permettere il vino: perocché dove regna ebbrezza, non v'è segreto:	4 Not for kings, O Lemuel, not for kings the drinking of wine, not for princes the love of liquor,
5 E perché dopo aver bevuto non si scordino di far giustizia, e non tradiscano la causa de' figliuoli del povero.	5 for fear that in liquor they forget what they have decreed and pervert the course of justice against allthe poor.
6 Date la sicera agli afflitti, e il vino a quelli, che hanno il cuore amareggiato:	6 Procure strong drink for someone about to die, wine for him whose heart is heavy:
7 Questi bevano, e si scordino di lor miseria, e non abbiano più memoria del lor dolore.	7 let him drink and forget his misfortune, and remember his misery no more.
8 Apri tu la tua bocca in favore del mutolo, e a difesa di tutti i passeggeri:	8 Make your views heard, on behalf of the dumb, on behalf of al the unwanted;
9 Apri la tua bocca, ordina quello che è giusto, e rendi ragione al meschinello, ed al povero.	9 make your views heard, pronounce an upright verdict, defend the cause of the poor and the wretched.
10 Chi troverà una donna forte? il pregio di lei è come delle cose portate di lontano, e dalle estremità della terra.	10 The truly capable woman -- who can find her? She is far beyond the price of pearls.
11 In lei riposa il cuor del suo sposo, il quale non avrà bisogno di proccurarsi bottino.	11 Her husband's heart has confidence in her, from her he wil derive no little profit.
12 Ella del bene darà a lui, e non del male, per tutti i giorni che durerà la sua vita.	12 Advantage and not hurt she brings him al the days of her life.
13 Ella si proccura della lana, e del lino, e lo mette in opra colla perizia delle sue mani.	13 She selects wool and flax, she does her work with eager hands.
14 Ella o simile alla nave di un mercatante, la quale porta da lungi il suo sostentamento.	14 She is like those merchant vessels, bringing her food from far away.
15 Ella si alza, che è ancor notte, e distribuisce il vitto alla gente di casa, e il mangiare alle sue serve.	15 She gets up while it is stil dark giving her household their food, giving orders to her serving girls.
16 Pose gli occhi sopra un podere, e io comperò; del guadagno delle sue mani piantovvi una vigna.	16 She sets her mind on a field, then she buys it; with what her hands have earned she plants avineyard.
17 Ella si cinge di fortezza i suoi fianchi, e fa robusto il suo braccio.	17 She puts her back into her work and shows how strong her arms can be.
18 Ella provò, e vide come il suo negozio le frutta: la sua lacerna non si spegne la notte.	18 She knows that her affairs are going wel ; her lamp does not go out at night.
19 Ella a forti cose stende la mano: le sue dita maneggiano il fuso.	19 She sets her hands to the distaff, her fingers grasp the spindle.
20 Apre la mano ai miserabili, e stende le palme ai poverelli.	20 She holds out her hands to the poor, she opens her arms to the needy.
21 Non teme per que' di sua casa il freddo, o la neve; perché tutti i suoi domestici han doppia veste.	21 Snow may come, she has no fears for her household, with al her servants warmly clothed.
22 Ella si fa dei tappeti di varj colori: il suo abito è di bisso, e di porpora.	22 She makes her own quilts, she is dressed in fine linen and purple.
23 Bella figura farà il suo sposo alle porte assise trai senatori del luogo.	23 Her husband is respected at the city gates, taking his seat among the elders of the land.
24 Fabbrica fine vesti di lino, e le vende, e da ai Cananei mercatanti delle cinture.	24 She weaves materials and sel s them, she supplies the merchant with sashes.
25 Ella si ammanta di fortezza, e di decoro, e sarà lieta negli ultimi giorni.	25 She is clothed in strength and dignity, she can laugh at the day to come.
26 Con saggezza apre ella la sua bocca, e la legge della bontà governa sua lingua.	26 When she opens her mouth, she does so wisely; on her tongue is kindly instruction.
27 Sta attenta agli andamenti di sua gente, e il pane non mangia nell'ozio.	27 She keeps good watch on the conduct of her household, no bread of idleness for her.
28 Sorgono i figli di lei, e la annunziano per sommamente beata; il suo marito, e le dà lode.	28 Her children stand up and proclaim her blessed, her husband, too, sings her praises:
29 Molte son le fanciulle, che hanno adunate delle ricchezze: tu le hai superate tutte quante.	29 'Many women have done admirable things, but you surpass them all!'
30 Fallace è l'avvenenza, ed è vana la beltà: la donna, che teme il Signore sarà quella, che avrà lode.	30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty empty; the woman who fears Yahweh is the one to praise.
31 Date a lei de' frutti delle sue mani, e lo opere sue la celebrino alle porte.	31 Give her a share in what her hands have worked for, and let her works tel her praises at the citygates.
