Deuteronomio 14

BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Siate figli del Signore Dio vostro: non vi fate incisioni, non vi tagliate capelli per un morto,	1 'You are children of Yahweh your God. You must not gash yourselves or shave your foreheads for thedead.
2 perchè tu sei un popolo consacrato al Signore Dio tuo, che ti ha eletto ad essere del tutto suo fra le nazioni che sono sopra la terra.	2 For you are a people consecrated to Yahweh your God, and Yahweh has chosen you to be his ownpeople from al the peoples on the earth.
3 Non mangiate le cose immonde.	3 'You must not eat anything disgusting.
4 Ecco gli animali che potrete mangiare: il bue, la pecora, la capra,	4 These are the animals you may eat: ox, sheep, goat,
5 il cervo, il capriolo, il bufalo, il tregelafo, il pigargo, l'orige, il camelopardo.	5 deer, gazel e, roebuck, ibex, antelope, oryx, mountain sheep.
6 Potrete mangiare di qualunque animale che ha l'unghia divisa in due e che rumina;	6 You may eat any animal that has a divided and cloven hoof and that is a ruminant.
7 ma di quelli che ruminano senza aver l'unghia divisa in due, come il cammello, la lepre, il cherogrillo, non ne mangerete; questi che ruminano senza aver l'unghia divisa in due considerateli come immondi.	7 Of those, however, that are ruminants and of those that have a divided and cloven hoof you may noteat the fol owing: the camel, the hare and the coney, which are ruminants but have no cloven hoof; you mustclass them as unclean.
8 Anche il porco, siccome non rumina, pur avendo l'unghia divisa, sarà immondo. Non mangerete le loro carni, nè toccherete i loro corpi morti.	8 So also the pig, which though it has a cloven hoof is not a ruminant; you must class it as unclean. Youmust neither eat the meat of such animals nor touch their dead bodies.
9 Ecco gli animali che potrete mangiare fra tutti quelli che vivono nell'acqua: mangiate quelli che hanno pinne e scaglie	9 'Of whatever lives in water you may eat the fol owing: you may eat anything that has fins and scales.
10 quelli senza pinne e senza scaglie non li mangiate, perchè sono immondi.	10 But you must not eat anything without fins and scales: you must class it as unclean.
11 Potrete mangiare di tutti gli uccelli mondi,	11 'You may eat al clean birds,
12 ma non mangiate gl'immondi, come l'aquila, il grifone, l'aquila marina,	12 but the fol owing birds you must not eat: the tawny vulture, the griffon, the osprey,
13 l'issione, l'avvoltoio, il milvo secondo la sua specie,	13 the kite and the several kinds of buzzard,
14 ogni genere di corvo,	14 al kinds of raven,
15 se lo struzzo, il barbagianni, il laro, lo spari viere secondo la sua specie,	15 the ostrich, the screech owl, the seagul , the several kinds of hawk,
16 l'airone, il cigno, l'ibi,	16 owl, barn owl, ibis,
17 lo smergo, il porfirione, la civetta,	17 pelican, white vulture, cormorant,
18 l'onocrotalo, il caradrio, ognuno nella sua specie, l'upupa e il pipistrello.	18 stork, the several kinds of heron, hoopoe and bat.
19 E tutto ciò che striscia per terra ed ha ali sarà immondo e non si mangerà.	19 You are to class al winged insects as unclean and must not eat them.
20 Mangiate tutto ciò che è mondo.	20 You may eat any clean fowl.
21 Non mangiate nessuna bestia morta da se: dàlla o vendila al forestiero che abita dentro alle tue porte, che la mangi lui, perchè tu sei il popolo santo del Signore Dio tuo. Non farai cuocere il capretto nel latte di sua madre.	21 'You must not eat any animal that has died a natural death. You may give it to a resident foreigner toeat, or sel it to a foreigner. For you are a people consecrated to Yahweh your God. 'You must not boil a kid in itsmother's milk.
22 Ogni anno separerai la decima parte di tutti i frutti che nascono dalla terra,	22 'Every year, you must take a tithe of what your fields produce from what you have sown
23 e nel cospetto del Signore Dio tuo, nel luogo da lui scelto affinchè vi sia invocato il suo nome, tu mangerai la decima del tuo frumento e del vino e dell'olio, i primogeniti dei tuoi armenti e dei tuoi greggi, affinchè tu impari a temere il Signore Dio tuo in ogni tempo.	23 and, in the presence of Yahweh your God, in the place where he chooses to give his name a home,you must eat the tithe of your wheat, of your new wine and of your oil, and the first-born of your herd and flock;and by so doing, you wil learn always to fear Yahweh your God.
24 Ma se fosse troppo lungo il cammino fino al luogo scelto dal Signore Dio tuo e se egli ti avrà benedetto in modo che tu non possa portargli tutte queste cose,	24 'If the road is too long for you, if you cannot bring your tithe because the place in which Yahwehchooses to make a home for his name is too far away, when Yahweh your God has blessed you,
25 vendute le decime e convertitele in danaro, portando questo nella tua mano, andrai al luogo che il Signore Dio tuo avrà scelto,	25 you must convert it into money and, with the money clasped in your hand, you must go to the placechosen by Yahweh your God;
26 e con tal danaro comprerai tutto quello che ti piacerà: buoi, pecore, vino, sicera, e tutto ciò che desideri; e mangerai al cospetto del Signore Dio tuo, banchettando colla tua famiglia	26 there you may spend the money on whatever you like, oxen, sheep, wine, fermented liquor, anythingyou please. There you must eat in the presence of Yahweh your God and rejoice, you and your household.
27 e col levita che abita dentro le tue porte, che non devi abbandonare, perchè egli non ha altra parte nel tuo possesso.	27 Do not neglect the Levite living in your community, since he has no share or heritage of his ownamong you.
28 Ogni tre anni metterai da parte un'altra decima di tutta la tua entrata di quell'anno, e la riporrai dentro alle tue porte,	28 'At the end of every three years, you must take al the tithes of your harvests for that year and col ectthem in your community.
29 e verranno a mangiarla e a saziarsi il levita, che non ha parte con te nè possessi, il forestiero, l'orfano e la vedova che son dentro le tue portee così il Signore ti benedirà in tutte le opere a cui porrai mano.	29 Then the Levite -- since he has no share or heritage of his own among you -- the foreigner, theorphan and the widow living in your community, wil come and eat all they want. And so Yahweh your God wilbless you in al the labours that you undertake.'
