Isaia 64

BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Oh! Se tu aprissi i cieli e scen­dessi! al tuo cospetto si liquefarebbero i monti,	1 as fire sets brushwood alight, as fire makes water boil -- to make your name known to your foes; thenations would tremble at your presence,
2 si consumerebbero come in una fornace di fuoco, le acque bollirebbero al fuoco, per far conoscere il tuo nome ai tuoi nemici, davanti a te tremerebbero le nazioni.	2 at the unexpected miracles you would do. (Oh, that you would come down, in your presence themountains would quake!)
3 Se farai maraviglie non le potremo sostenere: scendesti e dinanzi a te si disfecero i monti.	3 Never has anyone heard, no ear has heard, no eye has seen any god but you act like this for the sakeof those who trust him.
4 Nei secoli nessuno seppe, orecchio non udì, occhio non vide, o Dio, eccetto te, ciò che hai preparato a chi ti aspetta.	4 You come to meet those who are happy to act uprightly; keeping your ways reminds them of you. Yes,you have been angry and we have been sinners; now we persist in your ways and we shal be saved.
5 Tu vai incontro a chi pratica con gioia la giustizia, nelle tue vie si ricorderanno di te: ecco tu sei sdegnato, abbiamo peccato: siamo stati sempre nel peccato, ma saremo salvi.	5 We have al been like unclean things and our upright deeds like filthy rags. We wither, al of us, likeleaves, and al our misdeeds carry us off like the wind.
6 Siam tutti diventati come un uomo immondo, come panno impuro son le nostre giustizie: siam tutti caduti come foglie, come il vento le nostre iniquità ci han dispersi.	6 There is no one to invoke your name, to rouse himself to hold fast to you, for you have hidden your facefrom us and given us up to the power of our misdeeds.
7 Non c'è chi invochi il tuo nome, chi si alzi a rattenerti: ci hai nascosta la tua faccia, ci hai schiacciati sotto il peso delle nostre iniquità.	7 And yet, Yahweh, you are our Father; we the clay and you our potter, al of us are the work of yourhands.
8 Ed ora, o Signore, tu sei il nostro padre, e noi siamo fango: tu ci hai fatti, noi tutti siamo opera delle tue mani.	8 Yahweh, do not let your anger go too far and do not remember guilt for ever. Look, please, we are alyour people;
9 Non t'irritare di più, o Signore, non voler più ricordarti delle nostre iniquità: ecco, guarda: noi tutti siamo tuo popolo.	9 your holy cities have become a desert, Zion has become a desert, Jerusalem a wasteland.
10 La città del tuo santuario è divenuta deserta, Sion è diventata un deserto, Gerusalemme è desolata.	10 Our holy and glorious Temple, in which our ancestors used to praise you, has been burnt to theground; al our delight lies in ruins.
11 La casa della nostra santità e della nostra gloria dove ti cantarono inni i nostri padri è divenuta preda delle fiamme, le nostre cose più care sono andate in rovina.	11 Yahweh, can you restrain yourself at al this? Wil you stay silent and afflict us beyond endurance?
12 E davanti a tali cose ti conterrai, o Signore? starai in silenzio e ci affliggerai senza misura!
