Isaia 56

1 Così parla il Signore: « Osservate il diritto e praticate la giustizia, perchè la mia salvezza è vicina ad arrivare, e la mia giustizia a manifestarsi.	1 Thus says the Lord: Preserve judgment, and accomplish justice. For my salvation is close to its arrival, and my justice is close to being revealed.
2 Beato l'uomo che farà questo, e il figlio dell'uomo che vi si atterrà, osservando il sabato senza profanarlo, serbando pure le sue mani senza fare alcun male.	2 Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who holds to this, keeping the Sabbath and not profaning it, guarding his hands and not doing any evil.
3 E il figlio dello straniero, che si unisce al Signore, non si metta a dire: « Il Signore mi ha separato del tutto dal suo popolo ». E l'eunuco non dica: « Ecco io sono un legno secco »,	3 And let not the son of the new arrival, who adheres to the Lord, speak, saying, “The Lord will divide and separate me from his people.” And let not the eunuch say, “Behold, I am a dry tree.”
4 perchè il Signore dice così agli eunuchi, a quelli che osserveranno i miei sabati ed eleggeranno quello che mi è gradito e manterranno il mio patto:	4 For thus says the Lord to the eunuchs: They will keep my Sabbaths, and they will choose the things that I will, and they will hold to my covenant.
5 « Io darò ad essi nella mia casa e dentro le mie mura un posto e un nome migliore di quello di figli e a di figlie: darò loro un nome eterno che non perirà giammai.	5 I will give them a place in my house, within my walls, and a name better than sons and daughters. I will give them an everlasting name, which will never perish.
6 E i figli dello straniero, uniti al Signore, per venerarlo ed amare il suo nome, per essere suoi servi, tutti quelli che osservano i miei sabati senza profanarli, e mantengono il mio patto,	6 And the sons of the new arrival, who adhere to the Lord so as to worship him and to love his name, shall be his servants: all who keep the Sabbath without profaning it, and who hold to my covenant.
7 li condurrò alla mia santa montagna, li farò lieti nella mia casa d'orazione, i loro olocausti, le loro vittime mi saran gradite sul mio altare, perchè la mia casa sarà chiamata casa d'orazione per tutti i popo­li ».	7 I will lead them to my holy mountain, and I will gladden them in my house of prayer. Their holocausts and their victims will be pleasing to me upon my altar. For my house will be called the house of prayer for all peoples.
8 Dice il Signore Dio che ra­duna i dispersi d'Israele: « Radu­nerò ancora intorno a lui con quel­li già radunati ».	8 The Lord God, who gathers the dispersed of Israel, says: Even now, I will gather his congregation to him.
9 Voi tutte, o bestie dei campi, venite a divorare, voi tutte, o fiere del bosco.	9 All beasts of the field, all the beasts of the forest: approach and devour!
10 Le sue sentinelle son tutte cieche, tutte senza intendimen­to; son cani muti che non sanno latrare: che vedon dei fantasmi, dormono e amano i sogni.	10 His watchmen are all blind. They are all ignorant. They are mute dogs without the ability to bark, seeing empty things, sleeping and loving dreams.
11 E questi sfacciatissimi cani non sanno esser sazi. Gli stessi pasto­ri son privi d'intelligenza, ognu­no di essi va per la sua strada, ognuno al suo interesse, dal pri­mo all'ultimo.	11 And these very imprudent dogs have never known satisfaction. The shepherds themselves do not know understanding. All have turned aside in their own way, each one to his own avarice, from the highest even to the least:
12 « Venite, tracan­niamo il vino, riempiamoci fino all'ubriachezza, e come oggi sarà domani, e molto più ».	12 “Come, let us take wine, and be filled by inebriation. And as it is today, so shall it be tomorrow and for a long time.”
