Isaia 51

BIBBIA TINTORI	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Ascoltatemi, voi che seguite la giustizia e che cercate il Signore, considerate la rupe da cui foste tagliati, la cava profonda da cui foste tratti.	1 Give ear to me, you that follow that which is just, and you that seek the Lord: look unto the rock whence you are hewn, and to the hole of the pit from which you are dug out.
2 Pensate ad Abramo vostro padre, a Sara che vi partorì. Chè io chiamai lui solo, e lo benedissi e lo moltiplicai.	2 Look unto Abraham your father, and to Sara that bore you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and multiplied him.
3 Il Signore adunque consolerà Sion, risarcirà tutte le sue rovine, e ridurrà il suo deserto a luogo di delizie e le sue solitudini come a giardino del Signore. In lei si troverà la gioia e l'allegrezza, il ringraziamento e il canto della lode.	3 The Lord therefore will comfort Sion, and will comfort all the ruins thereof: and he will make her desert as a place of pleasure, and her wilderness as the garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of praise.
4 Stammi a sentire, o popolo mio, o mia tribù, ascoltami, perchè la legge uscirà da me, il mio diritto si stabilirà a luce dei popoli.	4 Hearken unto me, O my people, and give ear to me, O my tribes: for a law shall go forth from me, and my judgment shall rest to be a light of the nations.
5 Il mio giusto è vicino, il mio salvatore è uscito, e le mie braccia giudicheranno i popoli; mi aspetteranno le isole, e spereranno nel mio braccio.	5 My just one is near at hand, my saviour is gone forth, and my arms shall judge the people: the islands shall look for me, and shall patiently wait for my arm.
6 Alzate al cielo i vostri occhi, guardate in basso la terra: i cieli svaniranno come fumo, la terra si consumerà come una veste, e i suoi abitanti periranno con lei; ma la mia salvezza sarà in sempiterno, e la mia giustizia non verrà mai meno.	6 Lift up your eyes to heaven, and look down to the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish like smoke, and the earth shall be worn away like a garment, and the inhabitants thereof shall perish in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my justice shall not fail.
7 Ascoltatemi, voi che conoscete la giustizia, popolo mio che hai la mia legge nel cuore: non temete gli obbrobri degli uomini, non vi spaventate per i loro oltraggi.	7 Hearken to me, you that know what is just, my people who have my law in your heart: fear ye not the reproach of men, and be not afraid of their blasphemies.
8 Infatti il verme li consumerà come una veste, la tignola li divorerà come lana; ma la mia salvezza sarà in sempiterno, e la mia giustizia per tutte le generazioni.	8 For the worm shall eat them up as a garment: and the moth shall consume them as wool: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my justice from generation to generation,
9 Alzati, alzati, rivestiti di forza, o braccio del Signore, alzati come nei giorni antichi, come nelle generazioni d'una volta. Non sei tu quello che percotesti il superbo, feristi il dragone?	9 Arise, arise, put on strength, O thou arm of the Lord, arise as in the days of old, in the ancient generations. Hast not thou struck the proud one, and wounded the dragon?
10 Non sei tu quello che seccasti il mare, le acque dell'impetuoso abisso? che facesti nel profondo del mare una via ove potessero passare i liberati?	10 Hast not thou dried up the sea, the water of the mighty deep, who madest the depth of the sea a way, that the delivered might pass over?
11 Ed anche ora i redenti dal Signore torneranno, verranno a Sion cantando inni, coronati di eterna allegrezza, saran pieni di gioia e di letizia: il dolore e i gemiti fuggiranno.	11 And now they that are redeemed by the Lord, shall return, and shall come into Sion singing praises, and joy everlasting shall be upon their heads, they shall obtain joy and gladness, sorrow and mourning shall flee away.
12 Io, proprio io vi consolerò. Chi sei tu, da temere, un uomo mortale, un figlio dell'uomo che seccherà come l'erba?	12 I, I myself will comfort you: who art thou, that thou shouldst be afraid of a mortal man, and of the son of man, who shall wither away like grass?
13 e dimentichi il Signore tuo creatore, che distese i cieli, fondò la terra, e tremi continuamente, tutti i giorni, davanti al furor di colui che t'affligge e si prepara a sterminarti? dóv'è ora il furore del tiranno?	13 And thou hast forgotten the Lord thy maker, who stretched out the heavens, and founded the earth: and thee hast been afraid continually all the day at the presence of his fury who afflicted thee, and had prepared himself to destroy thee: where is now the fury of the oppressor?
14 Presto verrà colui che sale ad aprire: non ucciderà fino allo sterminio, e non verrà meno il suos pane.	14 He shall quickly come that is going to open unto you, and he shall not kill unto utter destruction, neither shall his bread fail.
15 Io sono il Signore Dio tuo, che sconvolgo il mare e ne fo gonfiare i flutti: il mio nome è: Signore degli eserciti.	15 But I am the Lord thy God, who trouble the sea, and the waves thereof swell: the Lord of hosts is my name.
16 Ho messe le mie parole nella tua bocca, ti ho protetto all'ombra della mia mano, perchè tu fissi i cieli e fondi la terra e dica a Sion: « Tu sei il mio popolo ».	16 I have put my words in thy mouth, and have protected thee in the shadow of my hand, that thou mightest plant the heavens, and found the earth: and mightest say to Sion: Thou art my people.
17 Alzati, alzati, sorgi, o Gerusalemme, chè hai bevuto dalla mano del Signore il calice del suo sdegno, hai bevuto sino in fondo il calice dello stordimento, l'hai succhiato sino alla feccia.	17 Arise, arise, stand up, O Jerusalem, which hast drunk at the hand of the Lord the cup of his wrath; thou hast drunk even to the bottom of the cup of dead sleep, and thou hast drunk even to the dregs.
18 Fra tutti i figli da lei generati non c'è chi la sostenga, non c'è uno che la prenda per mano, fra tutti i figli che ha allevati.	18 There is none that can uphold her among all the children that she hath brought forth: and there is none that taketh her by the hand among all the children that she hath brought up.
19 Queste due sventure ti han colpito: chi si affliggerà per te? Devastazione, sterminio, fame, spada: chi ti consolerà?	19 There are two things that have happened to thee: who shall be sorry for thee? desolation, and destruction, and the famine, and the sword, who shall comfort thee?
20 I tuoi figli, gettati per terra, giacciono addormentati ai capi di tutte le strade, come un orige preso alla rete, ripieni dello sdegno del Signore, della minaccia del tuo Dio.	20 Thy children are cast forth, they have slept at the head of all the ways, as the wild ox that is snared: full of the indignation of the Lord, of the rebuke of thy God.
21 Or dunque ascolta questo, o poverina, ed ebbra, ma non di vino,	21 Therefore hear this, thou poor little one, and thou that art drunk but no with wine.
22 queste cose dice il dominatore, tuo Signore, tuo Dio, che combatterà per il suo popolo: « Ecco ti ho tolto di mano il calice della mia indignazione: non ne berrai più in avvenire.	22 Thus saith thy Sovereign the Lord and thy God, who will fight for his people: Behold I have taken out of thy hand the cup of dead sleep, the dregs of the cup of my indignation, thou shalt not drink it again any more.
23 Io lo porrò in mano a quelli che ti hanno umiliata, a quelli che ti hanno detto : « Curvati per farci passare ». E tu riducesti il tuo corpo a terra, a strada per chi passava.	23 And I will put it in the hand of them that have oppressed thee, and have said to thy soul: Bow down, that we may go over: and thou hast laid thy body as the ground, and as a way to them that went over.
