Geremia 23

1 - Guai ai pastori che disperdono e sbrancano il gregge del mio pascolo, dice il Signore!	1 “Woe to the shepherds who scatter and tear apart the sheep of my pasture, says the Lord.
2 Perciò, così dice il Signore Dio d'Israele, ai pastori che pascolano il mio popolo: Voi avete disperso le pecore del mio gregge, le avete sbandate e non le avete visitate: ebbene, visiterò io voi per la malvagità delle vostre azioni, dice il Signore.	2 Because of this, thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, to the shepherds who pasture my people: You have scattered my flock, and you have driven them away, and you have not visited them. Behold, I will visit upon you because of your evil pursuits, says the Lord.
3 E io raccoglierò gli avanzi del gregge mio da tutte le regioni là dove li avrò sbandati e li ricondurrò alle loro ville e cresceranno e si moltiplicheranno.	3 And I will gather together the remnant of my flock from the entire earth, from the places to which I had cast them out. And I will return them to their own fields. And they will increase and be multiplied.
4 E farò sorgere ad essi dei pastori e li pasceranno e non staranno più in timore nè in paura, e nessuno mancherà del loro numero, dice il Signore.	4 And I will raise up shepherds over them, and they will pasture them. They will no longer dread, and they will no longer fear. And no one among their number will be seeking more, says the Lord.
5 Ecco che vengono i giorni, dice il Signore, ed io susciterò a David un rampollo giusto, un re che regnerà e sarà sapiente e farà valere il diritto e la giustizia sulla terra.	5 Behold, the days are approaching, says the Lord, when I will raise up to David a righteous branch. And a king will reign, and he will be wise. And he will exercise judgment and justice upon the earth.
6 In quei giorni Giuda sarà salvato e Israele dimorerà sicuro, e questo è il nome col quale sarà chiamato: Il giusto nostro è il Signore.	6 In those days, Judah will be saved, and Israel will live in confidence. And this is the name that they will call him: ‘The Lord, our Just One.’
7 Per questo, ecco che vengono i giorni, dice il Signore, e non diranno più: Vive il Signore che trasse i figli di Israele dalla terra d'Egitto!	7 Because of this, behold, the days are approaching, says the Lord, when they will no longer say, ‘As the Lord lives, who led the sons of Israel away from the land of Egypt,’
8 ma: Vive il Signore che trasse e ricondusse la progenie della casa di Israele dalla terra del settentrione e da tutte le contrade là dove li aveva cacciati e abiteranno la loro terra!" -	8 but instead, ‘As the Lord lives, who led away and brought back the offspring of the house of Israel from the land of the north and from the entire earth,’ from the places to which I had cast them out. And they will live in their own land.”
9 Ai profeti: - Mi sono sentito schiantare dentro il cuore, fremere tutte l'ossa, sono come ebbro, come un uomo ripieno di vino, davanti al Signore e davanti alle sue parole sante.	9 To the prophets: “My heart is crushed within me. All my bones are trembling. I have become like an inebriated man, and like a man maddened by wine, before the face of the Lord, and before the face of his holy words.
10 Perchè la terra è piena di adulteri, perchè davanti alla maledizione la terra è afflitta, sono arsi i pascoli del deserto; la loro corsa è malvagia e la loro bravura è sviata.	10 For the earth is full of adulterers! And the earth has mourned before the face of evil talk. The plains of the desert have dried up, and their course has become hazardous, and their firmness has become uneven.”
11 Perchè il profeta e il sacerdote si sono contaminati, e nella mia casa stessa ho trovato le loro infamie, dice il Signore.	11 “For both the prophet and the priest have become polluted, and I have found their wickedness within my own house, says the Lord.
12 Perciò il loro procedere sarà come sopra un lubrico sentiero nel buio: riceveranno una spinta e stramazzeranno, perchè farò venire sopra di loro il male, l'anno della visitazione, dice il Signore.	12 For this reason, their way will be like a slippery path in the dark. For they will be impelled forward, and they will fall in it. For I will bring evils over them, in the year of their visitation, says the Lord.
13 Già nei profeti di Samaria aveva visto la dissennatezza, profetavano in nome di Baal e ingannavano il mio popolo d'Israele.	13 And I have seen the foolishness of the prophets of Samaria. They have prophesied in Baal, and they have deceived my people Israel.
14 Nei profeti di Gerusalemme ho visto le nefandezze stesse degli adulteri e la strada della menzogna; hanno avvalorato la mano dei peggiori, sì che alcuno non si converta dalla sua malvagità; tutti sono diventati per me come Sodoma e come Gomorra sono i suoi abitanti.-	14 And in the prophets of Jerusalem, I have seen the likeness of adulterers and the path of falsehood. And they have strengthened the hands of the wicked, so that each one would not convert from his malice. They have all become to me like Sodom, and its inhabitants have become like Gomorrah.”
15 Perciò così dice il Signore degli eserciti ai profeti: - Ecco ch'io vi pascerò d'assenzio e vi abbevererò di fiele, perchè dai profeti di Gerusalemme è partito il contagio per tutta la terra.-	15 Because of this, thus says the Lord of hosts to the prophets: “Behold, I will feed them absinthe, and I will give them gall to drink. For from the prophets of Jerusalem corruption has gone forth over the entire earth.”
16 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: - Non date ascolto alle parole dei profeti che profeteggiano e vi ingannano: vi raccontano la visione dettata dal loro cuore, non dalla bocca del Signore.	16 Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Do not choose to listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you and deceive you. They speak a vision from their own heart, and not from the mouth of the Lord.
17 A quelli che vilipendono me dicono: " Il Signore ha parlato, avrete la pace". E a quanti perseverano nel pervertimento del loro cuore hanno detto: "Male alcuno non verrà sopra di noi".	17 To those who blaspheme me, they say: ‘The Lord has said: You shall have peace.’ And to every one who walks in the depravity of his own heart, they have said: ‘No evil will overwhelm you.’ ”
18 Ma chi ha assistito al consiglio del Signore e lo vide e udì il suo parlare? Chi considerò la sua parola e l'ascoltò?	18 For who has been present in the counsel of the Lord, and who has seen and heard his word? Who has considered his word and heard it?
19 Ecco il turbine dell'indignazione del Signore sale e una tempesta si scatena e verrà sopra il capo degli empi.	19 Behold, the whirlwind of the Lord’s indignation will go forth, and a tempest will break out; it will overwhelm the head of the impious.
20 Il Signore non si rimetterà dall'ira sua fin a tanto che non abbia operato, fin a tanto che non abbia compiuto i disegni del suo cuore: nella fine dei giorni il disegno di lui comprenderete.	20 The fury of the Lord will not return until it succeeds, and until it completes the plan of his heart. In the last days, you will understand this counsel.
21 I profeti non li mandavo io, ed essi correvano; non parlavo loro, ed essi profetavano.	21 “I did not send these prophets, yet they hurry forward. I was not speaking to them, yet they were prophesying.
22 Se fossero stati presenti al mio consiglio e avessero riferito al mio popolo parole mie, li avrei certamente convertiti dalla loro mala via e dai loro pessimi pensieri.	22 If they had stood in my counsel, and if I had made my words known to my people, certainly I would have turned them away from their evil ways and from their most wicked plans.
23 È forse da credere, ch'io sia Dio da vicino, dice il Signore, e ch'io non sia più Dio da lontano?	23 Do you not realize that I am a God close by, says the Lord, and not a God far away?
24 Se l'uomo si rappiatta nei nascondigli, io forse non lo vedrò più, dice il Signore? E non riempio io forse il cielo e la terra, dice il Signore?	24 If a man is hidden in concealed places, do I not see him, says the Lord? Do I not fill up heaven and earth, says the Lord?
25 Ho ben udito io ciò che dissero i profeti che a nome mio vanno profetando la menzogna e dicendo: "Io ho sognato, io ho sognato!".	25 I have heard what the prophets have said, prophesying falsehoods in my name, and also saying: ‘I have dreamed! I have dreamed!’
26 E fino a quando vi sarà cotesto nel cuore dei profeti vaticinanti il falso e profetanti le allucinazioni del loro cuore,	26 How long will this be in the heart of the prophets who predict what is false, and who prophesy deceptions from their own heart?
27 nell'intento di far sì che il mio popolo, dietro i loro sogni che si raccontano l'un l'altro a vicenda, dimentichi il mio nome come i loro padri si dimenticarono di me dietro a Baal?	27 They want to cause my people to forget my name, by means of their dreams, which each of them describes to his neighbor, just as their fathers forgot my name for the sake of Baal.
28 Il profeta che ha un sogno racconti un sogno, e chi ha la mia parola riferisca la mia parola con verità; che ha da fare la paglia col grano? dice il Signore.	28 The prophet who has had a dream, let him describe the dream. And he who receives my word, let him speak my word in truth. For what has the chaff to do with the wheat, says the Lord?
29 E non son forse le mie parole come il fuoco, dice il Signore, e come il maglio che spacca la pietra?	29 Are not my words like a fire, says the Lord, and like a hammer crushing rock?
30 Perciò, eccomi ai profeti, dice il Signore, che si rubano l'un l'altro le mie parole!	30 Therefore, behold: I am against the prophets, says the Lord, who steal my words, each one from his neighbor.
31 Eccomi ai profeti, dice il Signore, che prendono ciò che vien loro sulla lingua e dicono: "È il Signore che lo dice!".	31 Behold, I am against the prophets, says the Lord, who take up their tongues and say: ‘The Lord says it.’
32 Eccomi ai profeti dai sogni di menzogna, dice il Signore, che sono andati raccontandoli e hanno sedotto il mio popolo colle loro menzogne e colle loro cose meravigliose, quand'io non aveva dato loro alcuna missione nè commissione, e non hanno recato alcun vantaggio a questo popolo, dice il Signore!	32 Behold, I am against the prophets, who dream what is false, says the Lord; who explain and so seduce my people with their falsehoods and with their miracles, though I did not send them, nor did I command them. They have offer nothing beneficial to this people, says the Lord.
33 Se dunque questo popolo o un profeta o un sacerdote t'interrogherà dicendo: "C'è qualche parola del Signore a carico nostro?" risponderai loro: "Voi siete un carico e mi scaricherò di voi, dice il Signore".	33 Therefore, if this people, or a prophet, or a priest questions you, saying, ‘What is the burden of the Lord?’ you shall say to them, ‘You are the burden. And certainly I will cast you away, says the Lord.’
34 E al profeta e al sacerdote e al popolo che dice: "Il carico del Signore" io chiederò conto, a lui e alla sua casa.	34 And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people who say, ‘The burden of the Lord!’ I will visit upon that man and upon his house.
35 Così invece ciascuno dirà al suo compagno e al suo fratello: "Che cosa ha risposto il Signore? e che ha detto il Signore".	35 And then you will speak in this way, each one to his neighbor and to his brother: ‘What has the Lord answered? And what has the Lord said?’
36 Ma la parola "Carico del Signore" non sia da alcuno più menzionata, perchè un carico che grava sopra di lui, diventerà la sua propria parola, chiunque sia di voi che avete travisato il verbo di Dio vivente, del Signore degli eserciti, Dio nostro.-	36 And the burden of the Lord will be no longer be called to mind. For each one’s own word will be a burden. For you have perverted the words of the living God, of the Lord of hosts, our God.
37 Al profeta così dirai:- Che cosa ti ha risposto il Signore? e che ti ha detto il Signore?	37 And then you will speak in this way to the prophet: ‘What has the Lord answered you? And what has the Lord spoken?’
38 Ma se pronunzierete "Carico del Signore" allora, così dice il Signore: Perchè avete pronunziata questa parola: "Carico del Signore" quando io aveva mandato ad avvertirvi: non dite: "Carico del Signore",	38 But if you say, ‘The burden of the Lord!’ then because of this, thus says the Lord: Since you have spoken this word, ‘The burden of the Lord!’ though I sent to you telling you not to say: ‘The burden of the Lord,’
39 per questo io farò di voi e della città che aveva dato ai vostri padri, un carico e lo porterò e lo scaricherò lungi dalla mia faccia.	39 because of this, behold, I will take you away, like a burden, and I will forsake you, as well as the city that I gave to you and to your fathers, before my face.
40 E vi darò al vituperio eterno e ad eterna ignominia che non sarà mai dall'oblio scancellata-».	40 And I will give you over to an everlasting reproach and an eternal disgrace, which shall never be wiped away into oblivion.”
