BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Ora, Adamo conobbe la moglie sua Eva, la quale concepì e partorì Caino, dicendo: «Ho ricevuto, per mezzo di Dio, un uomo».	1 The man had intercourse with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain. 'I have acquireda man with the help of Yahweh,' she said.
2 Poi ancora partorì il fratello di lui, Abele. Abele fu pastore di pecore, e Caino agricoltore.	2 She gave birth to a second child, Abel, the brother of Cain. Now Abel became a shepherd and keptflocks, while Cain tilled the soil.

5 ma non riguardò Caino e i doni di lui. Laonde Caino s'adirò grandemente, ed il volto suo s'abbattè.	5 But he did not look with favour on Cain and his offering, and Cain was very angry and downcast.
6 Ed il Signore gli disse: «Perchè sei adirato? Perchè abbattuto è il tuo volto?	6 Yahweh asked Cain, 'Why are you angry and downcast?
7 Forse, se farai del bene, non anche ne riceverai? Se invece farai male, non starà subito il tuo peccato alla tua porta? Ma l'appetito tuo ti starà sottoposto, e tu potrai dominarlo».	7 If you are doing right, surely you ought to hold your head high! But if you are not doing right, Sin iscrouching at the door hungry to get you. You can still master him.'
8 Disse Caino al fratello Abele: «Usciamo fuori». E come furon pei campi, Caino insorse contro il fratello Abele, e l'uccise.	8 Cain said to his brother Abel, 'Let us go out'; and while they were in the open country, Cain set on hisbrother Abel and killed him.
9 Disse il Signore a Caino: «Dov'è il fratello tuo Abele?». Questi rispose: «Non lo so. Son io forse il guardiano del mio fratello?».	9 Yahweh asked Cain, 'Where is your brother Abel?' 'I do not know,' he replied. 'Am I my brother'sguardian?'
10 Gli disse il Signore: «Che hai tu fatto? La voce del sangue del tuo fratello grida a me dalla terra.	10 'What have you done?' Yahweh asked. 'Listen! Your brother's blood is crying out to me from theground.
11 Sarai perciò d'ora in poi maledetto sulla terra, che ha aperto la bocca per ricevere il sangue del tuo fratello, versato dalla tua mano.	11 Now be cursed and banned from the ground that has opened its mouth to receive your brother's bloodat your hands.
12 Anche se la lavorerai, non ti darà frutti; sarai ramingo e fuggiasco per il mondo».	12 When you til the ground it wil no longer yield up its strength to you. A restless wanderer you wil beon earth.'
13 Disse Caino al Signore: «È troppo grande la mia iniquità perchè io meriti perdono.	13 Cain then said to Yahweh, 'My punishment is greater than I can bear.
14 Ecco, tu mi scacci oggi sulla terra; sfuggirò la tua faccia, e sarò ramingo e fuggiasco nel mondo. Perciò, chiunque mi troverà, mi ucciderà».	14 Look, today you drive me from the surface of the earth. I must hide from you, and be a restlesswanderer on earth. Why, whoever comes across me wil kill me!'
15 Ma il Signore gli disse: «No, non sarà così. Anzi, chiunque ucciderà Caino sarà punito sette volte di più». E pose il Signore su Caino un segno, acciò nessuno che l'incontrasse lo uccidesse.	15 'Very wel , then,' Yahweh replied, 'whoever kil s Cain wil suffer a sevenfold vengeance.' So Yahwehput a mark on Cain, so that no one coming across him would kil him.
16 Uscito Caino dal cospetto del Signore, abitò fuggiasco nella regione che è all'oriente dell'Eden.	16 Cain left Yahweh's presence and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden.
17 Ora, Caino conobbe la moglie sua, la quale concepì e partorì Henoc; costruì una città, e la chiamò Henoc dal nome del figlio suo.	17 Cain had intercourse with his wife, and she conceived and gave birth to Enoch. He became thefounder of a city and gave the city the name of his son Enoch.
18 Poi Henoc generò Irad, Irad generò Maviael, Maviael generò Matusael, e Matusael generò Lamec.	18 Enoch fathered Irad, and Irad fathered Mehujael; Mehujael fathered Methushael, and Methushaelfathered Lamech.
19 Questi prese due mogli: una di nome Ada, e l'altra di nome Sella.	19 Lamech married two women: the name of the first was Adah and the name of the second was Zil ah.
20 Ada generò Jabel, padre di quelli che abitano sotto le tende, e dei pastori.	20 Adah gave birth to Jabal: he was the ancestor of tent-dwelling herdsmen.
21 Il fratello di questi ebbe nome Iubal, e fu padre dei musici di cetra e d'organo.	21 His brother's name was Jubal: he was the ancestor of al who play the harp and the pipe.
22 Sella poi generò Tubalcain, lavoratore al martello, artefice in ogni genere di lavoro in bronzo ed in ferro. Sorella poi di Tubalcain fu Noema.	22 As for Zil ah, she gave birth to Tubal-Cain: he was the ancestor of al who work copper and iron.Tubal-Cain's sister was Naamah.
23 E disse Lamec ad Ada e Sella sue mogli: «Udite la mia voce, mogli di Lamec, ascoltate il mio discorso; ho ucciso un uomo per una mia ferita, ed un giovine per una mia lividura;	23 Lamech said to his wives: Adah and Zil ah, hear my voice, wives of Lamech, listen to what I say: Ikil ed a man for wounding me, a boy for striking me.
24 di Caino sarà fatta sette volte vendetta, ma di Lamec, settanta volte sette».	24 Sevenfold vengeance for Cain, but seventy-sevenfold for Lamech.
25 Conobbe un'altra volta Adamo la moglie sua, la quale partorì un figlio, e lo chiamò per nome Set, dicendo: «Iddio m'ha dato un altro discendente al luogo di Abele ucciso da Caino».	25 Adam had intercourse with his wife, and she gave birth to a son whom she named Seth, 'becauseGod has granted me other offspring', she said, 'in place of Abel, since Cain has kil ed him.'
26 Anche a Set nacque un figlio, e lo chiamò Enos. Questi cominciò ad invocare il nome del Signore.	26 A son was also born to Seth, and he named him Enosh. This man was the first to invoke the nameYahweh.
