1 Pietro e Giovanni salivano al tempio per la preghiera delle tre del pomeriggio.	1 Now Peter and John went up to the temple at the ninth hour of prayer.
2 Qui di solito veniva portato un uomo, storpio fin dalla nascita; lo ponevano ogni giorno presso la porta del tempio detta Bella, per chiedere l’elemosina a coloro che entravano nel tempio.	2 And a certain man, who was lame from his mother’s womb, was being carried in. They would lay him every day at the gate of the temple, which is called the Beautiful, so that he might request alms from those entering into the temple.
3 Costui, vedendo Pietro e Giovanni che stavano per entrare nel tempio, li pregava per avere un’elemosina.	3 And this man, when he had seen Peter and John beginning to enter the temple, was begging, so that he might receive alms.
4 Allora, fissando lo sguardo su di lui, Pietro insieme a Giovanni disse: «Guarda verso di noi».	4 Then Peter and John, gazing at him, said, “Look at us.”
5 Ed egli si volse a guardarli, sperando di ricevere da loro qualche cosa.	5 And he looked intently at them, hoping that he might receive something from them.
6 Pietro gli disse: «Non possiedo né argento né oro, ma quello che ho te lo do: nel nome di Gesù Cristo, il Nazareno, àlzati e cammina!».	6 But Peter said: “Silver and gold is not mine. But what I have, I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, rise up and walk.”
7 Lo prese per la mano destra e lo sollevò. Di colpo i suoi piedi e le caviglie si rinvigorirono	7 And taking him by the right hand, he lifted him up. And immediately his legs and feet were strengthened.
8 e, balzato in piedi, si mise a camminare; ed entrò con loro nel tempio camminando, saltando e lodando Dio.	8 And leaping up, he stood and walked around. And he entered with them into the temple, walking and leaping and praising God.
9 Tutto il popolo lo vide camminare e lodare Dio	9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God.
10 e riconoscevano che era colui che sedeva a chiedere l’elemosina alla porta Bella del tempio, e furono ricolmi di meraviglia e stupore per quello che gli era accaduto.	10 And they recognized him, that he was the same one who was sitting for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple. And they were filled with awe and amazement at what had happened to him.
11 Mentre egli tratteneva Pietro e Giovanni, tutto il popolo, fuori di sé per lo stupore, accorse verso di loro al portico detto di Salomone.	11 Then, as he held on to Peter and John, all the people ran to them at the portico, which is called Solomon’s, in astonishment.
12 Vedendo ciò, Pietro disse al popolo: «Uomini d’Israele, perché vi meravigliate di questo e perché continuate a fissarci come se per nostro potere o per la nostra religiosità avessimo fatto camminare quest’uomo?	12 But Peter, seeing this, responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you wonder at this? Or why do you stare at us, as if it were by our own strength or power that we caused this man to walk?
13 Il Dio di Abramo, il Dio di Isacco, il Dio di Giacobbe, il Dio dei nostri padri ha glorificato il suo servo Gesù, che voi avete consegnato e rinnegato di fronte a Pilato, mentre egli aveva deciso di liberarlo;	13 The God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Son Jesus, whom you, indeed, handed over and denied before the face of Pilate, when he was giving judgment to release him.
14 voi invece avete rinnegato il Santo e il Giusto, e avete chiesto che vi fosse graziato un assassino.	14 Then you denied the Holy and Just One, and petitioned for a murderous man to be given to you.
15 Avete ucciso l’autore della vita, ma Dio l’ha risuscitato dai morti: noi ne siamo testimoni.	15 Truly, it was the Author of Life whom you put to death, whom God raised from the dead, to whom we are witnesses.
16 E per la fede riposta in lui, il nome di Gesù ha dato vigore a quest’uomo che voi vedete e conoscete; la fede che viene da lui ha dato a quest’uomo la perfetta guarigione alla presenza di tutti voi.	16 And by faith in his name, this man, whom you have seen and known, has confirmed his name. And faith through him has given this man complete health in the sight of you all.
17 Ora, fratelli, io so che voi avete agito per ignoranza, come pure i vostri capi.	17 And now, brothers, I know that you did this through ignorance, just as your leaders also did.
18 Ma Dio ha così compiuto ciò che aveva preannunciato per bocca di tutti i profeti, che cioè il suo Cristo doveva soffrire.	18 But in this way God has fulfilled the things that he announced beforehand through the mouth of all the Prophets: that his Christ would suffer.
19 Convertitevi dunque e cambiate vita, perché siano cancellati i vostri peccati	19 Therefore, repent and be converted, so that your sins may be wiped away.
20 e così possano giungere i tempi della consolazione da parte del Signore ed egli mandi colui che vi aveva destinato come Cristo, cioè Gesù.	20 And then, when the time of consolation will have arrived from the presence of the Lord, he will send the One who was foretold to you, Jesus Christ,
21 Bisogna che il cielo lo accolga fino ai tempi della ricostituzione di tutte le cose, delle quali Dio ha parlato per bocca dei suoi santi profeti fin dall’antichità.	21 whom heaven certainly must take up, until the time of the restoration of all things, which God has spoken of by the mouth of his holy prophets, from ages past.
22 Mosè infatti disse: Il Signore vostro Dio farà sorgere per voi, dai vostri fratelli, un profeta come me; voi lo ascolterete in tutto quello che egli vi dirà.	22 Indeed, Moses said: ‘For the Lord your God shall raise up a Prophet for you from your brothers, one like me; the same shall you listen to according to everything whatsoever that he shall speak to you.
23 E avverrà: chiunque non ascolterà quel profeta, sarà estirpato di mezzo al popolo.	23 And this shall be: every soul who will not listen to that Prophet shall be exterminated from the people.’
24 E tutti i profeti, a cominciare da Samuele e da quanti parlarono in seguito, annunciarono anch’essi questi giorni.	24 And all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and thereafter, have announced these days.
25 Voi siete i figli dei profeti e dell’alleanza che Dio stabilì con i vostri padri, quando disse ad Abramo: Nella tua discendenza saranno benedette tutte le nazioni della terra.	25 You are sons of the prophets and of the testament which God has appointed for our fathers, saying to Abraham: ‘And by your offspring all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’
26 Dio, dopo aver risuscitato il suo servo, l’ha mandato prima di tutto a voi per portarvi la benedizione, perché ciascuno di voi si allontani dalle sue iniquità».	26 God raised up his Son and sent him first to you, to bless you, so that each one may turn himself away from his wickedness.”
