1 Quando divenne re, Sedecìa aveva ventun’anni; regnò undici anni a Gerusalemme. Sua madre era di Libna e si chiamava Camutàl, figlia di Geremia.	1 Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for eleven years inJerusalem. His mother's name was Hamital daughter of Jeremiah, of Libnah.
2 Fece ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore, come aveva fatto Ioiakìm.	2 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, just as Jehoiakim had done.
3 Ma, a causa dell’ira del Signore, a Gerusalemme e in Giuda le cose arrivarono a tal punto che il Signore li scacciò dalla sua presenza. Sedecìa si ribellò al re di Babilonia.	3 That this should happen to Jerusalem and Judah was due to Yahweh's anger, resulting in his castingthem away from his presence. Zedekiah rebel ed against the king of Babylon.
4 Nell’anno nono del suo regno, nel decimo mese, il dieci del mese, Nabucodònosor, re di Babilonia, con tutto il suo esercito arrivò a Gerusalemme. Si accamparono contro di essa e vi costruirono intorno opere d’assedio.	4 In the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, Nebuchadnezzar kingof Babylon advanced on Jerusalem with his entire army; he pitched camp in front of the city and threw upearthworks round it.
5 La città rimase assediata fino all’undicesimo anno del re Sedecìa.	5 The city lay under siege till the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.
6 Al quarto mese, il nove del mese, quando la fame dominava nella città e non c’era più pane per il popolo della terra,	6 In the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, when famine was raging in the city and there was nofood for the populace,
7 fu aperta una breccia nella città. Allora tutti i soldati fuggirono, uscendo dalla città di notte per la via della porta fra le due mura, presso il giardino del re e, mentre i Caldei erano intorno alla città, presero la via dell’Araba.	7 a breach was made in the city wal . The king and al the fighting men then fled, leaving the city undercover of dark, by way of the gate between the two wal s, which is near the king's garden -- the Chaldaeans hadsurrounded the city -- and made his way towards the Arabah.
8 I soldati dei Caldei inseguirono il re e raggiunsero Sedecìa nelle steppe di Gerico, mentre tutto il suo esercito si diresse lontano da lui.	8 The Chaldaean troops pursued the king and caught up with Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho, where allhis troops deserted.
9 Presero il re e lo condussero a Ribla, nel paese di Camat, presso il re di Babilonia, che pronunciò la sentenza su di lui.	9 But the Chaldaeans captured the king and took him to the king of Babylon at Riblah in the territory ofHamath, where he passed sentence on him.
10 Il re di Babilonia fece ammazzare i figli di Sedecìa sotto i suoi occhi e fece ammazzare anche tutti i capi di Giuda a Ribla.	10 He had Zedekiah's sons slaughtered before his eyes; he also had all the chief men of Judah put todeath at Riblah.
11 Poi cavò gli occhi a Sedecìa, lo fece mettere in catene e lo condusse a Babilonia, dove lo tenne in carcere fino alla sua morte.	11 He then put out Zedekiah's eyes and, loading him with chains, the king of Babylon carried him off toBabylon where he kept him prisoner until his dying day.
12 Il decimo giorno del quinto mese – era l’anno diciannovesimo del re Nabucodònosor, re di Babilonia – Nabuzaradàn, capo delle guardie, che prestava servizio alla presenza del re di Babilonia, entrò a Gerusalemme.	12 In the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month -- it was in the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzarking of Babylon -- Nebuzaradan commander of the guard, a member of the king of Babylon's staff, enteredJerusalem.
13 Egli incendiò il tempio del Signore e la reggia e tutte le case di Gerusalemme; diede alle fiamme anche tutte le case dei nobili.	13 He burnt down the Temple of Yahweh, the royal palace and al the houses in Jerusalem.
14 Tutto l’esercito dei Caldei, che era con il capo delle guardie, demolì tutte le mura intorno a Gerusalemme.	14 The Chaldaean troops who accompanied the commander of the guard demolished al the wal ssurrounding Jerusalem.
15 Nabuzaradàn, capo delle guardie, deportò il resto del popolo rimasto in città, i disertori che erano passati al re di Babilonia e quanti erano rimasti degli artigiani.	15 Nebuzaradan commander of the guard deported (some of the poor people and) the remainder of thepopulation left in the city, the deserters who had gone over to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the artisans.
16 Nabuzaradàn, capo delle guardie, lasciò parte dei poveri della terra come vignaioli e come agricoltori.	16 But Nebuzaradan commander of the guard left some of the poor country-people behind as vineyardworkers and ploughmen.
17 I Caldei fecero a pezzi le colonne di bronzo che erano nel tempio del Signore, i carrelli e il Mare di bronzo che erano nel tempio del Signore e ne portarono tutto il bronzo a Babilonia.	17 The Chaldaeans broke up the bronze pil ars from the Temple of Yahweh, the wheeled stands and thebronze Sea, which were in the Temple of Yahweh, and took al the bronze away to Babylon.
18 Essi presero anche i recipienti, le palette, i coltelli, i vasi per l’aspersione, le coppe e tutti gli oggetti di bronzo che servivano al culto.	18 They also took the ash containers, the scoops, the knives, the sprinkling bowls, the incense bowls,and all the bronze furnishings used in worship.
19 Il capo delle guardie prese anche i bicchieri, i bracieri, i vasi per l’aspersione, i recipienti, i candelabri, le coppe e i calici, quanto era d’oro e d’argento.	19 The commander of the guard also took the bowls, the censers, the sprinkling bowls, the ashcontainers, the lamp-stands, the goblets and the saucers: everything that was made of gold and everythingmade of silver.
20 Quanto alle due colonne, all’unico Mare, ai dodici buoi di bronzo che erano sotto di esso e ai carrelli, che aveva fatto il re Salomone per il tempio del Signore, non si poteva calcolare quale fosse il peso del bronzo di tutti questi oggetti.	20 As regards the two pil ars, the one Sea, the twelve bronze oxen supporting the Sea, and the wheeledstands, which King Solomon had made for the Temple of Yahweh, there was no reckoning the weight of bronzein all these objects.
21 Delle colonne poi l’una era alta diciotto cubiti e ci voleva un filo di dodici cubiti per misurarne la circonferenza; il suo spessore era di quattro dita, essendo vuota nell’interno.	21 As regards the pil ars, the height of one pillar was eighteen cubits, its circumference was twelvecubits, it was four fingers thick, and hol ow inside;
22 Su di essa c’era un capitello di bronzo e l’altezza di un capitello era di cinque cubiti; tutto intorno al capitello c’erano un reticolo e melagrane, e il tutto era di bronzo. Così pure era l’altra colonna.	22 on it stood a capital of bronze, the height of the capital being five cubits; round the capital were filigreeand pomegranates, al in bronze. 24 Il capo delle guardie fece prigioniero Seraià, sacerdote capo, e Sofonia, sacerdote del secondo ordine, insieme ai tre custodi della soglia.	24 The commander of the guard took prisoner Seraiah the chief priest, Zephaniah the priest next in rank,and the three guardians of the threshold.
25 Dalla città egli fece prigionieri un cortigiano, che era a capo dei soldati, sette uomini fra gli intimi del re, i quali furono trovati nella città, lo scriba del comandante dell’esercito, che arruolava il popolo della terra, e sessanta uomini del popolo della terra, trovati nella città.	25 In the city he took prisoner an official who was in command of the fighting men, seven of the king'spersonal friends who were discovered in the city, the secretary to the army commander responsible for militaryconscription, and sixty men of distinction discovered in the city.
26 Nabuzaradàn, capo delle guardie, li prese e li condusse al re di Babilonia, a Ribla.	26 Nebuzaradan commander of the guard took these men and brought them to the king of Babylon atRiblah,
27 Il re di Babilonia li colpì e li fece morire a Ribla, nel paese di Camat. Così fu deportato Giuda dalla sua terra.	27 and at Riblah, in the territory of Hamath, the king of Babylon had them put to death. Thus Judah wasdeported from its country.
28 Questa è la gente che Nabucodònosor deportò: nell’anno settimo del suo regno tremilaventitré Giudei;	28 The number of people deported by Nebuchadnezzar was as fol ows. In the seventh year: threethousand and twenty-three Judaeans;
29 nell’anno diciottesimo di Nabucodònosor furono deportati da Gerusalemme ottocentotrentadue persone;	29 in the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar, eight hundred and thirty-two persons were deported fromJerusalem;
30 nell’anno ventitreesimo di Nabucodònosor, Nabuzaradàn, capo delle guardie, deportò settecentoquarantacinque Giudei. In tutto furono deportate quattromilaseicento persone.	30 in the twenty-third year of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuzaradan commander of the guard deported sevenhundred and forty-five Judaeans. In al : four thousand six hundred persons.
31 Ora, nell’anno trentasettesimo della deportazione di Ioiachìn, re di Giuda, nel dodicesimo mese, il venticinque del mese, Evil-Merodàc, re di Babilonia, nell’anno in cui divenne re, fece grazia a Ioiachìn, re di Giuda, e lo liberò dalla prigione.	31 But in the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on thetwenty-fifth day of the month, Evil-Merodach king of Babylon, in the year he came to the throne, pardonedJehoiachin king of Judah and released him from prison.
32 Gli parlò con benevolenza e pose il suo trono al di sopra del trono dei re che si trovavano con lui a Babilonia.	32 He treated him kindly and allotted him a seat above those of the other kings who were with him inBabylon.
