1 Sugli Ammoniti. Così dice il Signore: «Israele non ha forse figli, non ha forse un erede? Perché Milcom ha ereditato la terra di Gad e il suo popolo ne ha occupato le città?	1 Concerning the Ammonites, thus says the LORD: Has Israel no sons? has he no heir? Why then has Milcom disinherited Gad, why have his people settled in Gad's cities?
2 Perciò ecco, verranno giorni – oracolo del Signore – nei quali io farò udire fragore di guerra a Rabbà degli Ammoniti; essa diventerà un cumulo di rovine, i suoi villaggi saranno consumati dal fuoco, Israele spoglierà i suoi spogliatori, dice il Signore.	2 But the days are coming, says the LORD, when against Rabbah of the Ammonites I will sound the battle alarm; She shall become a mound of ruins, and her daughter cities shall be destroyed by fire. Israel shall inherit those who disinherited her, says the LORD.
3 Urla, Chesbon, arriva il devastatore; gridate, villaggi di Rabbà, cingetevi di sacco, innalzate lamenti e andate raminghi con tagli sulla pelle, perché Milcom andrà in esilio, con i suoi sacerdoti e i suoi capi.	3 Howl, Heshbon, for the ravager approaches, shriek, daughters of Rabbah! Put on sackcloth and mourn, run to and fro, gashing yourselves; For Milcom goes into exile along with his priests and captains.
4 Perché ti vanti delle tue valli, figlia ribelle? Confidi nei tuoi tesori ed esclami: “Chi verrà contro di me?”.	4 Why do you glory in your strength, your ebbing strength, rebellious daughter? You who trust in your treasures, saying, "Who can come against me?"
5 Ecco, io manderò su di te il terrore – oracolo del Signore, Dio degli eserciti – da tutti i dintorni. Voi sarete scacciati, ognuno per la sua via, e non vi sarà nessuno che raduni i fuggiaschi.	5 I am bringing terror upon you, says the Lord GOD of hosts, from all round about you; You shall be scattered, each man in headlong flight, with no one to rally the fugitives.
6 Ma dopo cambierò la sorte degli Ammoniti». Oracolo del Signore.	6 But afterward I will change the lot of the Ammonites, says the LORD.
7 Su Edom. Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: «Non c’è più sapienza in Teman? È scomparso il consiglio dei saggi? È svanita la loro sapienza?	7 Concerning Edom, thus says the LORD of hosts: Is there no more wisdom in Teman, has counsel perished from the prudent, has their wisdom become corrupt?
8 Fuggite, voltatevi, nascondetevi in un luogo segreto, abitanti di Dedan, poiché io mando su Esaù la sua rovina, il tempo del suo castigo.	8 Flee, retreat, hide in deep holes, you who live in Dedan: For I will bring destruction upon Esau when I come to punish him.
9 Se vendemmiatori venissero da te, ti lascerebbero appena qualche grappolo. Se ladri notturni venissero da te, saccheggerebbero quanto basta loro.	9 If vintagers came upon you, they would leave no gleanings; If thieves by night, they would destroy as they pleased.
10 Perché io intendo spogliare Esaù, rivelo i suoi nascondigli ed egli non ha dove nascondersi. La sua stirpe, i suoi fratelli, i suoi vicini sono distrutti ed egli non è più.	10 So I myself will strip Esau; I will uncover his retreats so that he cannot hide. He is ruined: sons, and brothers, and neighbors, so that he is no more.
11 Lascia i tuoi orfani, io li farò vivere, le tue vedove confidino in me!	11 Leave your orphans behind, I will keep them alive; your widows, let them trust in me.
12 Poiché così dice il Signore: Ecco, coloro che non erano obbligati a bere il calice lo devono bere e tu pretendi di rimanere impunito? Non resterai impunito, ma dovrai berlo,	12 For thus says the LORD: Even those not sentenced to drink the cup must drink it! Shall you then go unpunished? You shall not go unpunished; you shall surely drink it.
13 poiché io ho giurato per me stesso – oracolo del Signore – che Bosra diventerà un orrore, un obbrobrio, un deserto, una maledizione, e tutte le sue città saranno ridotte a rovine perenni».	13 By my own self I have sworn, says the LORD: Bozrah shall become an object of horror and a disgrace, a desolation and a curse; she and all her cities shall become ruins forever.
14 Ho udito un messaggio da parte del Signore, un messaggero è stato inviato fra le nazioni: «Adunatevi e marciate contro di lui! Alzatevi per la battaglia».	14 I have heard a report from the LORD, a herald has been sent among the nations: Gather together, move against her, rise up for battle.
15 «Poiché ecco, ti faccio piccolo fra le nazioni e spregevole fra gli uomini.	15 Small will I make you among the nations, despised among men!
16 Ti ha indotto in errore la tua arroganza, la superbia del tuo cuore; tu che abiti nelle caverne delle rocce, che ti aggrappi alle cime dei colli, anche se, come l’aquila, ponessi in alto il tuo nido, di lassù ti farò precipitare. Oracolo del Signore.	16 The terror you spread beguiled you, and your presumption of heart; You that live in rocky crags, that hold the heights of the hill: Though you build your nest high as the eagle, from there I will drag you down, says the LORD.
17 Edom sarà una desolazione; quanti vi passeranno vicino resteranno sbigottiti e fischieranno di scherno davanti a tutte le sue ferite.	17 Edom shall become an object of horror. Every passer-by shall be appalled and catch his breath at all her wounds.
18 Come nello sconvolgimento di Sòdoma e Gomorra e delle città vicine – dice il Signore –, non vi abiterà alcuna persona né vi dimorerà essere umano.	18 As when Sodom, Gomorrah, and their neighbors were overthrown, says the LORD, not a man shall dwell there: no one shall visit there.
19 Ecco, come un leone sale dalla boscaglia del Giordano verso i prati sempre verdi, così in un baleno io lo scaccerò di là e porrò su di esso il mio eletto. Perché chi è come me? Chi può citarmi in giudizio? Chi è dunque il pastore che può resistere davanti a me?	19 As when a lion comes up from the thicket of Jordan to the permanent feeding grounds, So I, in an instant, will drive men off; and whom I choose I will establish there! For who is like me? who can call me to account? What shepherd can stand against me?
20 Per questo, ascoltate il progetto che il Signore ha fatto contro Edom e le decisioni che ha preso contro gli abitanti di Teman. Certo, trascineranno via anche i più piccoli del gregge e sarà desolato il loro pascolo.	20 Therefore, hear the counsel of the LORD, which he has taken against Edom; Hear the plans he has made against those that live in Teman: They shall be dragged away, even the smallest sheep, their own pasture shall be aghast because of them.
21 Al fragore della loro caduta tremerà la terra. Un grido! Fino al Mar Rosso ne risuonerà l’eco.	21 At the noise of their fall the earth quakes, to the Red Sea the outcry is heard!
22 Ecco, come l’aquila sale e si libra e distende le ali su Bosra. In quel giorno il cuore dei prodi di Edom sarà come il cuore di una donna nei dolori del parto».	22 See! like an eagle he soars aloft, and spreads his wings over Bozrah; On that day the hearts of Edom's heroes shall be like the heart of a woman in travail.Concerning Damascus:
23 Su Damasco. «Camat e Arpad sono piene di confusione, perché hanno sentito una cattiva notizia; esse sono agitate come il mare, sono in angustia, non possono calmarsi.	23 Hamath and Arpad are covered with shame, they have heard bad news; Worried, they toss like the sea which cannot rest.
24 Spossata è Damasco, volta le spalle per fuggire; un tremito l’ha colta, angoscia e dolori l’assalgono come una partoriente.	24 Damascus is weakened, she turns to flee, panic has seized her. Distress and pangs take hold of her, like those of a woman in travail.
25 Come non potrebbe essere abbandonata la città gloriosa, la città del tripudio?	25 How can the city of glory be forsaken, the town of delight!
26 Perciò cadranno i suoi giovani nelle sue piazze, tutti i suoi guerrieri periranno in quel giorno. Oracolo del Signore degli eserciti.	26 But now her young men shall fall in her streets, and all her warriors shall be stilled. On that day, says the LORD of hosts,
27 Darò fuoco alle mura di Damasco e divorerà i palazzi di Ben-Adàd».	27 I will set fire to the wall of Damascus, and it shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad.
28 Su Kedar e sui regni di Asor, che Nabucodònosor, re di Babilonia, sconfisse. Così dice il Signore: «Su, marciate contro Kedar, saccheggiate i figli dell’oriente.	28 Of Kedar and the kingdoms of Hazor, defeated by Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, thus says the LORD: Rise up, attack Kedar, ravage the Easterners.
29 Prendete le loro tende e le loro pecore, i loro teli, tutti i loro attrezzi, portate via i loro cammelli; un grido si leverà su di loro: “Terrore all’intorno!”.	29 Their tents and herds shall be taken away, their tent curtains and all their goods; Their camels they shall carry off for themselves, and shout from upon them, "Terror on every side!"
30 Fuggite, andate lontano, nascondetevi in un luogo segreto o abitanti di Asor – oracolo del Signore –, perché Nabucodònosor, re di Babilonia, ha ideato un disegno contro di voi, ha preparato un piano contro di voi.	30 Flee! leave your homes, hide in deep holes, you that live in Hazor, says the LORD; For counsel has been taken against you, a plan has been formed against you (Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon).
31 Su, marciate contro la nazione tranquilla, che vive in sicurezza – oracolo del Signore – e non ha né porte né sbarre, e vive isolata.	31 Rise up! set out against a nation that is at peace, that lives secure, says the LORD, That has no gates or bars, and dwells alone.
32 I suoi cammelli diverranno preda e la massa delle sue greggi bottino. Disperderò a tutti i venti coloro che si radono le tempie, da ogni parte farò venire la loro rovina. Oracolo del Signore.	32 Their camels shall be your booty, their many herds your spoil; I will scatter to the winds those who shave their temples, from all sides I will bring ruin upon them, says the LORD.
33 Asor diventerà rifugio di sciacalli, una desolazione per sempre; non vi abiterà alcuna persona né vi dimorerà essere umano».	33 Hazor shall become a haunt of jackals, a desert forever, Where no man lives, no human being stays.
34 Parola che il Signore rivolse al profeta Geremia riguardo a Elam all’inizio del regno di Sedecìa, re di Giuda.	34 The following word of the LORD against Elam came to the prophet Jeremiah at the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah, king of Judah:
35 «Dice il Signore degli eserciti: Ecco, io spezzerò l’arco di Elam, il nerbo della sua potenza.	35 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the mainstay of their might.
36 Farò venire contro Elam i quattro venti dalle quattro estremità del cielo e li disperderò davanti a questi venti; non ci sarà nazione in cui non giungeranno i profughi di Elam.	36 I will bring upon Elam the four winds from the four ends of the heavens: I will scatter them to all these winds, till there is no nation to which the outcasts of Elam shall not come.
37 Incuterò terrore negli Elamiti davanti ai loro nemici e davanti a coloro che vogliono la loro vita; manderò su di loro la sventura, la mia ira ardente. Oracolo del Signore. Manderò la spada a inseguirli, finché non li avrò sterminati.	37 I will break Elam before their foes, before those who seek their life; I will bring evil upon them, my burning wrath, says the LORD. I will send the sword to pursue them until I have completely made an end of them;
38 Porrò il mio trono su Elam e farò scomparire il suo re e i suoi capi. Oracolo del Signore.	38 My throne I will set up in Elam and destroy from there king and princes, says the LORD.
39 Ma negli ultimi giorni cambierò la sorte di Elam». Oracolo del Signore.	39 But in the days to come I will change the lot of Elam, says the LORD.
