1 Questa parola fu rivolta a Geremia dal Signore durante il regno di Ioiakìm, figlio di Giosia, re di Giuda:	1 This word came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the days of Jehoiakim, son of Josiah, king of Judah:
2 «Va’ dai Recabiti e parla loro, conducili in una delle stanze nel tempio del Signore e offri loro vino da bere».	2 Approach the Rechabites and speak to them; bring them into the house of the LORD, to one of the rooms, and give them wine to drink.
3 Allora presi tutta la famiglia dei Recabiti, cioè Iaazania, figlio di Geremia, figlio di Cabassinia, i suoi fratelli e tutti i suoi figli.	3 So I went and brought Jaazaniah, son of Jeremiah, son of Habazziniah, his brothers and all his sons, the whole company of the Rechabites,
4 Li condussi nel tempio del Signore, nella stanza dei figli di Canan, figlio di Igdalia, uomo di Dio, la quale si trova vicino alla stanza dei capi, sopra la stanza di Maasia, figlio di Sallum, custode della soglia.	4 into the house of the LORD, to the room of the sons of Hanan, son of Igdaliah, the man of God, next to the princes' room, above the room of Maaseiah, son of Shallum, keeper of the doorway.
5 Posi davanti ai membri della famiglia dei Recabiti boccali pieni di vino e delle coppe e dissi loro: «Bevete il vino!».	5 I set before these Rechabite men bowls full of wine and offered them cups to drink the wine.
6 Essi risposero: «Noi non beviamo vino, perché Ionadàb, figlio di Recab, nostro antenato, ci diede quest’ordine: “Non berrete vino, né voi né i vostri figli, mai;	6 "We do not drink wine," they said to me: "Jonadab, Rechab's son, our father, forbade us in these words: 'Neither you nor your children shall ever drink wine.
7 non costruirete case, non seminerete sementi, non pianterete vigne e non ne possederete, ma abiterete nelle tende tutti i vostri giorni, perché possiate vivere a lungo sulla terra dove vivete come forestieri”.	7 Build no house and sow no seed; neither plant nor own a vineyard. You shall dwell in tents all your life, so that you may live long on the earth where you are wayfarers.'
8 Noi abbiamo obbedito agli ordini di Ionadàb, figlio di Recab, nostro padre, in tutto ciò che ci ha comandato, e perciò noi, le nostre mogli, i nostri figli e le nostre figlie, non beviamo vino per tutta la nostra vita;	8 Now we have heeded Jonadab, Rechab's son, our father, in all his prohibitions. All our lives we have not drunk wine, neither we, nor our wives, nor our sons, nor our daughters.
9 non costruiamo case da abitare né possediamo vigne o campi o sementi.	9 We build no houses to live in; we own no vineyards or fields or crops,
10 Noi abitiamo nelle tende, obbediamo e facciamo quanto ci ha comandato Ionadàb, nostro padre.	10 and we live in tents; we obediently do everything our father Jonadab commanded us.
11 Quando Nabucodònosor, re di Babilonia, è venuto contro il paese, ci siamo detti: “Venite, entriamo in Gerusalemme per sfuggire all’esercito dei Caldei e all’esercito degli Aramei”. Così siamo venuti ad abitare a Gerusalemme».	11 But when Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, invaded this land, we decided to come into Jerusalem to escape the army of the Chaldeans and the army of Aram; that is why we are now living in Jerusalem."
12 Allora fu rivolta a Geremia questa parola del Signore:	12 Then this word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:
13 «Così dice il Signore degli eserciti, Dio d’Israele: Va’ e riferisci agli uomini di Giuda e agli abitanti di Gerusalemme: Non accetterete la lezione, ascoltando le mie parole? Oracolo del Signore.	13 Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Go, say to the men of Judah and to the citizens of Jerusalem: Will you not take correction and obey my words? says the LORD.
14 Sono state messe in pratica le parole di Ionadàb, figlio di Recab, il quale aveva comandato ai suoi figli di non bere vino, ed essi non lo hanno bevuto fino ad oggi, obbedendo al comando del loro padre. Io invece vi ho parlato con premura e insistenza, ma voi non mi avete ascoltato!	14 The advice of Jonadab, Rechab's son, by which he forbade his children to drink wine, has been followed: to this day they have not drunk it; they obeyed their father's command. Me, however, you have not obeyed, although I spoke to you untiringly and insistently.
15 Vi ho inviato con assidua premura tutti i miei servi, i profeti, per dirvi: Abbandoni ciascuno la sua condotta perversa, migliorate le vostre azioni e non seguite e non servite altri dèi, per poter abitare nella terra che ho concesso a voi e ai vostri padri, ma voi non avete prestato orecchio e non mi avete dato retta.	15 I kept sending you all my servants the prophets, telling you to turn back, all of you, from your evil way; to reform your conduct, and not follow strange gods or serve them, if you would remain on the land which I gave you and your fathers; but you did not heed me or obey me.
16 E mentre i figli di Ionadàb, figlio di Recab, hanno eseguito il comando del loro padre, questo popolo non mi ha ascoltato.	16 Yes, the children of Jonadab, Rechab's son, observed the command which their father laid on them; but this people does not obey me!
17 Perciò dice il Signore, Dio degli eserciti, Dio d’Israele: Ecco, io farò venire su Giuda e su tutti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme tutto il male che ho annunciato contro di loro, perché ho parlato loro e non mi hanno ascoltato, li ho chiamati e non hanno risposto».	17 Now, therefore, says the LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel: I will bring upon Judah and all the citizens of Jerusalem every evil that I threatened; because when I spoke they did not obey, when I called they did not answer.
18 Geremia disse poi alla famiglia dei Recabiti: «Dice il Signore degli eserciti, Dio d’Israele: Poiché avete ascoltato il comando di Ionadàb, vostro padre, e avete osservato tutti i suoi decreti e avete fatto quanto vi aveva ordinato,	18 But to the company of the Rechabites Jeremiah said: Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Since you have obeyed the command of Jonadab, your father, kept all his commands and done everything he commanded you,
19 per questo dice il Signore degli eserciti, Dio d’Israele: Non verrà mai a mancare a Ionadàb, figlio di Recab, qualcuno che stia sempre alla mia presenza».	19 thus therefore says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Never shall there fail to be a descendant of Jonadab, Rechab's son, standing in my service.
