Geremia 20

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Pascur, figlio di Immer, sacerdote e sovrintendente-capo del tempio del Signore, udì Geremia profetizzare queste cose.	1 Now the priest Pashhur son of Immer, who was the chief of police in the Temple of Yahweh, heardJeremiah making this prophecy.
2 Pascur ordinò di fustigare il profeta Geremia e quindi lo fece mettere ai ceppi nella prigione che si trovava presso la porta superiore di Beniamino, nel tempio del Signore.	2 Pashhur struck the prophet Jeremiah and then put him in the stocks, in the Upper Benjamin Gateleading into the Temple of Yahweh.
3 Il giorno dopo, quando Pascur lo fece liberare dai ceppi, Geremia gli disse: «Il Signore non ti chiama più Pascur, ma Terrore all’intorno.	3 Next day, Pashhur had Jeremiah taken out of the stocks; Jeremiah then said to him, 'Not Pashhur butTerror-on-every-Side is Yahweh's name for you.
4 Perché così dice il Signore: Ecco, io darò in preda al terrore te e tutti i tuoi cari; essi cadranno per la spada dei loro nemici davanti ai tuoi occhi. Consegnerò tutti gli abitanti di Giuda in mano al re di Babilonia, il quale li deporterà e li ucciderà di spada.	4 For Yahweh says this, "I am going to hand you over to terror, you and al your friends; they wil fal bythe sword of their enemies, your own eyes wil see it. The whole of Judah, too, I shal hand over to the king ofBabylon; he will carry them off captive to Babylon and put them to the sword.
5 Consegnerò tutte le ricchezze di questa città e i suoi prodotti, tutti gli oggetti preziosi e i tesori dei re di Giuda in mano ai loro nemici, i quali li saccheggeranno e li prenderanno e li porteranno a Babilonia.	5 And al the wealth of this city, all its stores, al its valuables, al the treasures of the kings of Judah, Ishall hand over to their enemies who wil plunder them, round them up and carry them off to Babylon.
6 Tu, Pascur, e tutti quelli della tua casa andrete in schiavitù; andrai a Babilonia, là morirai e là sarai sepolto, tu e tutti i tuoi cari, ai quali hai profetizzato tante menzogne».	6 As for you, Pashhur, and your whole household, you will go into captivity; you will go to Babylon; thereyou wil die, and there be buried, you and all your friends to whom you have prophesied lies." '
7 Mi hai sedotto, Signore, e io mi sono lasciato sedurre; mi hai fatto violenza e hai prevalso. Sono diventato oggetto di derisione ogni giorno; ognuno si beffa di me.	7 You have seduced me, Yahweh, and I have let myself be seduced; you have overpowered me: youwere the stronger. I am a laughing-stock al day long, they al make fun of me.
8 Quando parlo, devo gridare, devo urlare: «Violenza! Oppressione!». Così la parola del Signore è diventata per me causa di vergogna e di scherno tutto il giorno.	8 For whenever I speak, I have to howl and proclaim, 'Violence and ruin!' For me, Yahweh's word hasbeen the cause of insult and derision al day long.
9 Mi dicevo: «Non penserò più a lui, non parlerò più nel suo nome!». Ma nel mio cuore c’era come un fuoco ardente, trattenuto nelle mie ossa; mi sforzavo di contenerlo, ma non potevo.	9 I would say to myself, 'I will not think about him, I wil not speak in his name any more,' but then thereseemed to be a fire burning in my heart, imprisoned in my bones. The effort to restrain it wearied me, I could notdo it.
10 Sentivo la calunnia di molti: «Terrore all’intorno! Denunciatelo! Sì, lo denunceremo». Tutti i miei amici aspettavano la mia caduta: «Forse si lascerà trarre in inganno, così noi prevarremo su di lui, ci prenderemo la nostra vendetta».	10 I heard so many disparaging me, 'Terror on every side! Denounce him! Let us denounce him!' Althose who were on good terms with me watched for my downfal , 'Perhaps he wil be seduced into error. Thenwe shal get the better of him and take our revenge!'
11 Ma il Signore è al mio fianco come un prode valoroso, per questo i miei persecutori vacilleranno e non potranno prevalere; arrossiranno perché non avranno successo, sarà una vergogna eterna e incancellabile.	11 But Yahweh is at my side like a mighty hero; my opponents wil stumble, vanquished, confounded bytheir failure; everlasting, unforgettable disgrace wil be theirs.
12 Signore degli eserciti, che provi il giusto, che vedi il cuore e la mente, possa io vedere la tua vendetta su di loro, poiché a te ho affidato la mia causa!	12 Yahweh Sabaoth, you who test the upright, observer of motives and thoughts, I shall see yourvengeance on them, for I have revealed my cause to you.
13 Cantate inni al Signore, lodate il Signore, perché ha liberato la vita del povero dalle mani dei malfattori.	13 Sing to Yahweh, praise Yahweh, for he has delivered the soul of one in need from the clutches of evildoers.
14 Maledetto il giorno in cui nacqui; il giorno in cui mia madre mi diede alla luce non sia mai benedetto.	14 A curse on the day when I was born! May the day my mother bore me be unblessed!
15 Maledetto l’uomo che portò a mio padre il lieto annuncio: «Ti è nato un figlio maschio», e lo colmò di gioia.	15 A curse on the man who brought my father the news, 'A son, a boy has been born to you!' making himoverjoyed.
16 Quell’uomo sia come le città che il Signore ha distrutto senza compassione. Ascolti grida al mattino e urla a mezzogiorno,	16 May this man be like the towns that Yahweh overthrew without mercy; may he hear the warning-cry atdawn and the shout of battle at high noon,
17 perché non mi fece morire nel grembo; mia madre sarebbe stata la mia tomba e il suo grembo gravido per sempre.	17 for not kil ing me in the womb; my mother would have been my grave and her womb pregnant forever.
18 Perché sono uscito dal seno materno per vedere tormento e dolore e per finire i miei giorni nella vergogna?	18 Why ever did I come out of the womb to see toil and sorrow and end my days in shame?
