Geremia 15

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Il Signore mi disse: «Anche se Mosè e Samuele si presentassero davanti a me, non volgerei lo sguardo verso questo popolo. Allontanali da me, se ne vadano!	1 Yahweh said to me, 'Even if Moses and Samuel pleaded before me, I could not sympathise with thispeople! Drive them out of my sight; away with them!
2 Se ti domanderanno: “Dove dobbiamo andare?”, dirai loro: Così dice il Signore: Chi è destinato alla morte, alla morte, chi alla spada, alla spada, chi alla fame, alla fame, chi alla schiavitù, alla schiavitù.	2 And if they ask you, "Where shal we go?" tel them this, "Yahweh says this: Those for the plague, to the plague; those for the sword, to the sword; those for famine, to famine; those for captivity, to captivity!
3 Io manderò contro di loro quattro specie di mali – oracolo del Signore –: la spada per ucciderli, i cani per sbranarli, gli uccelli del cielo e le bestie della terra per divorarli e distruggerli.	3 "I shal consign them to four kinds of thing, Yahweh declares: the sword to kil , the dogs to drag away,the birds of heaven and wild animals of earth to devour and to destroy.
4 Li renderò un esempio terrificante per tutti i regni della terra, per quello che ha fatto in Gerusalemme il re di Giuda Manasse, figlio di Ezechia.	4 I shal make them an object of horror to al the kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh son ofHezekiah, king of Judah, and what he did in Jerusalem." '
5 Chi avrà pietà di te, Gerusalemme, chi ti compiangerà? Chi si volterà per domandarti come stai?	5 Who is there to pity you, Jerusalem, who to grieve for you, who to go out of his way and ask how youare?
6 Tu mi hai respinto – oracolo del Signore –, mi hai voltato le spalle e io ho steso la mano su di te per annientarti; sono stanco di pentirmi.	6 'You yourself have rejected me, Yahweh declares, you have turned your back on me; so I havestretched my hand over you and destroyed you. Tired of relenting,
7 Li ho dispersi al vento con la pala, alle porte del paese. Ho reso senza figli e ho fatto perire il mio popolo, perché non si sono convertiti dalle loro abitudini.	7 I have winnowed them with a winnow at the country's gates. They have been bereft, I have destroyedmy people, but they refuse to leave their ways.
8 Le loro vedove sono diventate più numerose della sabbia del mare. Ho mandato sulle madri e sui giovani un devastatore in pieno giorno; ho fatto piombare d’un tratto su di loro turbamento e spavento.	8 I have made their widows outnumber the sand of the sea. On the mother of young warriors I bring thedestroyer in broad daylight. Suddenly I bring anguish and terror down on her.
9 È abbattuta la madre di sette figli, esala il suo respiro; il sole tramonta per lei quando è ancora giorno, è coperta di vergogna e confusa. Io consegnerò i loro superstiti alla spada, in preda ai loro nemici». Oracolo del Signore.	9 The mother of seven sons grows faint and gasps for breath. It is stil day, but already her sun has set,she is dismayed and distracted; and the rest of them I shal consign to the sword, to their enemies, Yahwehdeclares.'
10 Me infelice, madre mia! Mi hai partorito uomo di litigio e di contesa per tutto il paese! Non ho ricevuto prestiti, non ne ho fatti a nessuno, eppure tutti mi maledicono.	10 A disaster for me, mother, that you bore me to be a man of strife and dissension for the wholecountry. I neither lend nor borrow, yet all of them curse me.
11 In realtà, Signore, ti ho servito come meglio potevo, mi sono rivolto a te con preghiere per il mio nemico, nel tempo della sventura e nel tempo dell’angoscia.	11 Have I not genuinely done my best to serve you, Yahweh? Have I not interceded with you in time ofdisaster and distress!
12 Potrà forse il ferro spezzare il ferro del settentrione e il bronzo?	12 'Can iron break the iron of the north and the bronze?
13 «I tuoi averi e i tuoi tesori li abbandonerò al saccheggio, come ricompensa per tutti i peccati commessi in tutti i tuoi territori.	13 Your wealth and your treasures I shal hand over to plunder, without repayment, because of all yoursins, throughout your territory.
14 Ti renderò schiavo dei tuoi nemici in una terra che non conosci, perché si è acceso il fuoco della mia ira, che arderà contro di te».	14 I shal enslave you to your enemies in a country which you do not know, for my anger has kindled afire that wil burn you up.'
15 Tu lo sai, Signore, ricòrdati di me e aiutami, véndicati per me dei miei persecutori. Nella tua clemenza non lasciarmi perire, sappi che io sopporto insulti per te.	15 Yahweh, you know! Remember me, take care of me, and avenge me on my persecutors. Howeverlong your anger endures, do not snatch me away. Realise that I suffer insult for your sake.
16 Quando le tue parole mi vennero incontro, le divorai con avidità; la tua parola fu la gioia e la letizia del mio cuore, perché il tuo nome è invocato su di me, Signore, Dio degli eserciti.	16 When your words came, I devoured them: your word was my delight and the joy of my heart; for I wascal ed by your Name, Yahweh, God Sabaoth.
17 Non mi sono seduto per divertirmi nelle compagnie di gente scherzosa, ma spinto dalla tua mano sedevo solitario, poiché mi avevi riempito di sdegno.	17 I never sat in the company of scoffers amusing myself; with your hands on me I held myself aloof,since you had fil ed me with indignation.
18 Perché il mio dolore è senza fine e la mia piaga incurabile non vuole guarire? Tu sei diventato per me un torrente infido, dalle acque incostanti.	18 Why is my suffering continual, my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? Truly, for me you are adeceptive stream with uncertain waters!
19 Allora il Signore mi rispose: «Se ritornerai, io ti farò ritornare e starai alla mia presenza; se saprai distinguere ciò che è prezioso da ciò che è vile, sarai come la mia bocca. Essi devono tornare a te, non tu a loro,	19 To which Yahweh replied, 'If you repent, I shal restore you to plead before me. If you distinguishbetween the precious and the base, you shal be as my own mouth. They will come back to you, but you mustnot go back to them.
20 e di fronte a questo popolo io ti renderò come un muro durissimo di bronzo; combatteranno contro di te, ma non potranno prevalere, perché io sarò con te per salvarti e per liberarti. Oracolo del Signore.	20 As far as these people are concerned, I shal make you a fortified wall of bronze. They will fightagainst you but will not overcome you, because I am with you to save you and rescue you, Yahweh declares.
21 Ti libererò dalla mano dei malvagi e ti salverò dal pugno dei violenti».	21 I shal rescue you from the clutches of the wicked and redeem you from the grasp of the violent.'
