Geremia 13

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Il Signore mi disse così: «Va’ a comprarti una cintura di lino e mettitela ai fianchi senza immergerla nell’acqua».	1 Yahweh said this to me, 'Go and buy a linen waistcloth and put it round your waist. But do not dip it inwater.'
2 Io comprai la cintura, secondo il comando del Signore, e me la misi ai fianchi.	2 And so, as Yahweh had ordered, I bought a waistcloth and put it round my waist.
3 Poi la parola del Signore mi fu rivolta una seconda volta:	3 A second time the word of Yahweh came to me,
4 «Prendi la cintura che hai comprato e che porti ai fianchi e va’ subito all’Eufrate e nascondila nella fessura di una pietra».	4 'Take the waistcloth that you have bought and are wearing round your waist. Up, go to the Euphratesand hide it there in a hole in the rock.'
5 Io andai e la nascosi presso l’Eufrate, come mi aveva comandato il Signore.	5 So I went and hid it by the Euphrates as Yahweh had ordered me.
6 Dopo molto tempo il Signore mi disse: «Àlzati, va’ all’Eufrate e prendi di là la cintura che ti avevo comandato di nascondervi».	6 A long time later, Yahweh said to me, 'Up, go to the Euphrates and fetch the waistcloth I ordered you tohide there.'
7 Io andai all’Eufrate, cercai e presi la cintura dal luogo in cui l’avevo nascosta; ed ecco, la cintura era marcita, non era più buona a nulla.	7 So I went to the Euphrates, and I searched, and I took the waistcloth from the place where I had hiddenit. And there was the waistcloth ruined, no use for anything.
8 Allora mi fu rivolta questa parola del Signore:	8 Then the word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,
9 «Dice il Signore: In questo modo ridurrò in marciume l’orgoglio di Giuda e il grande orgoglio di Gerusalemme.	9 'Yahweh says this, "In the same way I shal ruin the pride of Judah, the immense pride of Jerusalem.
10 Questo popolo malvagio, che rifiuta di ascoltare le mie parole, che si comporta secondo la caparbietà del suo cuore e segue altri dèi per servirli e per adorarli, diventerà come questa cintura, che non è più buona a nulla.	10 This evil people, these people who refuse to listen to my words, who fol ow their own stubborninclinations and run after other gods, serving and worshipping them -- this people wil become like this waistcloth,no good for anything.
11 Poiché, come questa cintura aderisce ai fianchi di un uomo, così io volli che aderisse a me tutta la casa d’Israele e tutta la casa di Giuda – oracolo del Signore –, perché fossero mio popolo, mia fama, mia lode e mia gloria, ma non mi ascoltarono.	11 For just as a waistcloth clings to a man's waist, so I made the whole House of Israel and the wholeHouse of Judah cling to me, Yahweh declares, to be my people, my glory, my honour and my pride. But theyhave not listened."
12 Dirai a questo popolo: Così dice il Signore, Dio d’Israele: Ogni boccale va riempito di vino. Essi ti diranno: “Non lo sappiamo forse che ogni boccale va riempito di vino?”.	12 'You wil also say this to them, "Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: Any jug can be fil ed with wine." And if they answer you, "Do you think we do not know that any jug can be fil ed with wine?"
13 Tu allora risponderai loro: Così dice il Signore: Ecco, io renderò tutti ubriachi gli abitanti di questo paese, i re che siedono sul trono di Davide, i sacerdoti, i profeti e tutti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme.	13 you are to say, "Yahweh says this: Look, I shal fil al the inhabitants of this country, the kings whooccupy the throne of David, the priests, the prophets and al the citizens of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.
14 Poi li sfracellerò, gli uni contro gli altri, i padri e i figli insieme. Oracolo del Signore. Non avrò pietà né li risparmierò né per compassione mi tratterrò dal distruggerli».	14 Then I shal smash them one against the other, parents and children al together, Yahweh declares.Mercilessly, relentlessly, pitilessly, I shal destroy them." '
15 Ascoltate e porgete l’orecchio, non montate in superbia, perché parla il Signore.	15 Listen and pay attention, do not be proud: Yahweh is speaking!
16 Date gloria al Signore, vostro Dio, prima che venga l’oscurità e i vostri piedi inciampino sui monti, al cadere della notte. Voi aspettate la luce, ma egli la ridurrà in tenebre e la muterà in oscurità profonda!	16 Give glory to Yahweh your God before the darkness comes, before your feet stumble on the darkenedmountains. You hope for light, but he wil turn it to shadow dark as death, wil change it to blackness.
17 Se non ascolterete, io piangerò in segreto la vostra superbia; il mio occhio verserà lacrime, perché sarà deportato il gregge del Signore.	17 If you do not listen to this warning, I shal weep in secret for your pride; my eyes wil weep bitterly andstream with tears, for Yahweh's flock is being led into captivity.
18 «Dite al re e alla regina madre: “Sedete per terra, poiché è caduta dalla vostra testa la vostra preziosa corona”.	18 Tel the king and the queen mother, 'Sit in a lower place, since your glorious crown has fal en fromyour head.
19 Le città del Negheb sono assediate, nessuno le libera. Tutto Giuda è stato deportato, con una deportazione totale.	19 The towns of the Negeb are shut off with no one to give access to them. Al Judah has been deported,deported wholesale.'
20 Alza gli occhi e osserva coloro che vengono dal settentrione; dov’è il gregge che ti è stato consegnato, le tue magnifiche pecore?	20 Raise your eyes and look at these now coming from the north. Where is the flock once entrusted toyou, the flock which was your pride?
21 Che cosa dirai quando ti saranno imposti come capi coloro con cui avevi familiarizzato? Non ti lamenterai per il dolore come una partoriente?	21 What wil you say when they come and punish you, you yourself having taught them? Against you, inthe lead, wil come your friends. Then will not anguish grip you as it grips a woman in labour?
22 Se ti domandi in cuor tuo: “Perché mi capita tutto questo?”, è per l’enormità delle tue iniquità che sono stati sollevati i lembi della tua veste e il tuo corpo ha subìto violenza.	22 And should you ask yourself, 'Why is al this happening to me?' it is because of your great guilt thatyour skirts have been pulled up and you have been manhandled.
23 Può un Etiope cambiare la pelle o un leopardo le sue macchie? Allo stesso modo: potrete fare il bene voi, abituati a fare il male?	23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? And you, can you do right, being soaccustomed to wrong?
24 Perciò vi disperderò come pula, che vola via al vento del deserto.	24 'I shall scatter you like chaff on the desert wind.
25 Questa è la tua sorte, la parte che ti ho destinato – oracolo del Signore –, perché mi hai dimenticato e hai confidato nella menzogna.	25 This is your share, the part allotted you, from me, Yahweh declares, because you have forgotten meand put your trust in Delusion.
26 Solleverò anch’io le tue vesti fino al volto, così si vedrà la tua vergogna,	26 I am the one who pul s your skirts up over your face to let your shame be seen.
27 i tuoi adultèri e i tuoi ammiccamenti, l’ignominia della tua prostituzione! Sulle colline e nei campi ho visto i tuoi orrori. Guai a te, Gerusalemme, perché non ti purifichi! Per quanto tempo ancora?».	27 Oh! Your adulteries, your shrieks of pleasure, your vile prostitution! On the hills, in the fields, I haveseen your Horrors. Jerusalem, disaster is coming for you! How much longer till you are made clean?'
