1 C'è un rimprovero che è fuori tempo, c'è chi tace ed è prudente.	1 There is a reproof that is not comely: again, some man holdeth his tongue, and he is wise.
2 Quanto è meglio rimproverare che covare l'ira!	2 It is much better to reprove, than to be angry secretly: and he that confesseth his fault shall be preserved from hurt.
3 Chi si confessa colpevole evita l'umiliazione.	3 How good is it, when thou art reproved, to shew repentance! for so shalt thou escape wilful sin.
4 Un eunuco che vuol deflorare una ragazza, così chi vuol rendere giustizia con la violenza.	4 As is the lust of an eunuch to deflower a virgin; so is he that executeth judgment with violence.
5 C'è chi tace ed è ritenuto saggio, e c'è chi è odiato per la sua loquacità.	5 There is one that keepeth silence, and is found wise: and another by much babbling becometh hateful.
6 C'è chi tace, perché non sa che cosa rispondere, e c'è chi tace, perché conosce il momento propizio.	6 Some man holdeth his tongue, because he hath not to answer: and some keepeth silence, knowing his time.
7 L'uomo saggio sta zitto fino al momento opportuno, il millantatore e lo stolto lo trascurano.	7 A wise man will hold his tongue till he see opportunity: but a babbler and a fool will regard no time.
8 Chi abbonda nel parlare si renderà abominevole; chi vuole assolutamente imporsi sarà odiato.	8 He that useth many words shall be abhorred; and he that taketh to himself authority therein shall be hated.
9 Nelle disgrazie può trovarsi la fortuna per un uomo, mentre un profitto può essere una perdita.	9 There is a sinner that hath good success in evil things; and there is a gain that turneth to loss.
10 C'è una generosità, che non ti arreca vantaggi e c'è chi dall'umiliazione alza la testa.	10 There is a gift that shall not profit thee; and there is a gift whose recompence is double.
11 .	11 There is an abasement because of glory; and there is that lifteth up his head from a low estate.
12 C'è chi compra molte cose con poco, e chi le paga sette volte il loro valore.	12 There is that buyeth much for a little, and repayeth it sevenfold.
13 Il saggio si rende amabile con le sue parole, le cortesie degli stolti sono sciupate.	13 A wise man by his words maketh him beloved: but the graces of fools shall be poured out.
14 Il dono di uno stolto non ti gioverà, perché i suoi occhi bramano ricevere più di quanto ha dato.	14 The gift of a fool shall do thee no good when thou hast it; neither yet of the envious for his necessity: for he looketh to receive many things for one.
15 Egli darà poco, ma rinfaccerà molto; aprirà la sua bocca come un banditore. Oggi darà un prestito e domani richiederà; uomo odioso è costui.	15 He giveth little, and upbraideth much; he openeth his mouth like a crier; to day he lendeth, and to morrow will he ask it again: such an one is to be hated of God and man.
16 Lo stolto dice: "Non ho un amico, non c'è gratitudine per i miei benefici.	16 The fool saith, I have no friends, I have no thank for all my good deeds, and they that eat my bread speak evil of me.
17 Quelli che mangiano il mio pane sono lingue cattive". Quanto spesso e quanti si burleranno di lui!	17 How oft, and of how many shall he be laughed to scorn! for he knoweth not aright what it is to have; and it is all one unto him as if he had it not.
18 Meglio scivolare sul pavimento che con la lingua; per questo la caduta dei cattivi giunge rapida.	18 To slip upon a pavement is better than to slip with the tongue: so the fall of the wicked shall come speedily.
19 Un uomo senza grazia è un discorso inopportuno: è sempre sulla bocca dei maleducati.	19 An unseasonable tale will always be in the mouth of the unwise.
20 Non si accetta una massima dalla bocca dello stolto, perché non è mai detta a proposito.	20 A wise sentence shall be rejected when it cometh out of a fool's mouth; for he will not speak it in due season.
21 C'è chi è impedito di peccare dalla miseria e durante il riposo non avrà rimorsi.	21 There is that is hindered from sinning through want: and when he taketh rest, he shall not be troubled.
22 C'è chi si rovina per rispetto umano e si rovina per la faccia di uno stolto.	22 There is that destroyeth his own soul through bashfulness, and by accepting of persons overthroweth himself.
23 C'è chi per rispetto umano fa promesse a un amico; in tal modo se lo rende gratuitamente nemico.	23 There is that for bashfulness promiseth to his friend, and maketh him his enemy for nothing.
24 Brutta macchia nell'uomo la menzogna, si trova sempre sulla bocca degli ignoranti.	24 A lie is a foul blot in a man, yet it is continually in the mouth of the untaught.
25 Meglio un ladro che un mentitore abituale, ma tutti e due condivideranno la rovina.	25 A thief is better than a man that is accustomed to lie: but they both shall have destruction to heritage.
26 L'abitudine del bugiardo è un disonore, la vergogna lo accompagnerà sempre.	26 The disposition of a liar is dishonourable, and his shame is ever with him.
27 Il saggio si fa onore con i discorsi, l'uomo prudente piace ai grandi.	27 A wise man shall promote himself to honour with his words: and he that hath understanding will please great men.
28 Chi lavora la terra accrescerà il raccolto; chi piace ai grandi si fa perdonare l'ingiustizia.	28 He that tilleth his land shall increase his heap: and he that pleaseth great men shall get pardon for iniquity.
29 Regali e doni accecano gli occhi dei saggi, come bavaglio sulla bocca, soffocano i rimproveri.	29 Presents and gifts blind the eyes of the wise, and stop up his mouth that he cannot reprove.
30 Sapienza nascosta e tesoro invisibile: a che servono l'una e l'altro?	30 Wisdom that is hid, and treasure that is hoarded up, what profit is in them both?
31 Fa meglio chi nasconde la stoltezza che colui che nasconde la sapienza.	31 Better is he that hideth his folly than a man that hideth his wisdom.
	32 Necessary patience in seeking ing the Lord is better than he that leadeth his life without a guide.
