| 1 Uno spirito mi sollevò e mi fece giungere alla porta orientale del tempio di Jahve che guarda l’oriente: ed ecco al suo ingresso venticinque uomini. Vidi, tra di essi, Jazania, figlio di Azzur, e Pelatia, figlio di Benaia, capi del popolo. | 1 Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the east gate of the temple. At the entrance of the gate I saw twenty-five men, among whom were Jaazaniah, son of Azzur, and Pelatiah, son of Benaiah, princes of the people. |
| 2 Jahve mi disse: « Figlio dell’uomo, sono questi gli uomini che meditano iniquità e danno cattivi consigli in questa città, | 2 The LORD said to me: Son of man, these are the men who are planning evil and giving wicked counsel in this city. |
| 3 che vanno dicendo: “ Non si costruiscono case in breve tempo; essa è la pentola e noi siamo la carne ”. | 3 "Shall we not," they say, "be building houses soon? The city is the kettle, and we are the meat." |
| 4 Perciò profetizza contro di essi; profetizza, figlio dell’uomo ». | 4 Therefore prophesy against them, son of man, prophesy! |
| 5 Venne in me lo spirito di Jahve e mi ingiunse: « Parla: “ Così dice Jahve: Voi così pensate, casa di Israele, e io conosco i pensieri che sorgono nel vostro spirito. | 5 Then the spirit of the LORD fell upon me, and he told me to say: Thus says the LORD: This is the way you talk, house of Israel, and what you are plotting I well know. |
| 6 Avete moltiplicato i vostri trafitti in questa città, ne avete riempite le strade. | 6 You have slain many in this city and have filled its streets with your slain. |
| 7 Perciò così dice Jahve: Questi trafitti, che voi avete steso in essa, sono appunto la carne ed essa è la pentola fuori della quale, invece, getterò voi. | 7 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Your slain whom you have placed within it, they are the meat, and the city is the kettle; but you I will take out of it. |
| 8 Voi temete la spada e io la farò passare in mezzo a voi, oracolo del Signore Jahve. | 8 You fear the sword, but the sword I will bring upon you, says the Lord GOD. |
| 9 Vi caccerò dalla città e vi darò in potere di stranieri, compiendo su di voi una giusta vendetta. | 9 I will bring you out of the city, and hand you over to foreigners, and inflict punishments upon you. |
| 10 Cadrete di spada: vi condannerò sui confini di Israele; saprete che io sono Jahve. | 10 By the sword you shall fall; at the boundaries of Israel I will judge you; thus you shall know that I am the LORD. |
| 11 La città non sarà per voi come pentola e voi non ne sarete la carne: vi condannerò ai confini di Israele. | 11 The city shall not be a kettle for you, nor shall you be the meat within it. At the boundaries of Israel I will judge you, |
| 12 Saprete che io sono Jahve, di cui non avete seguito le leggi nè adempiuto i decreti, praticando, invece, i costumi delle genti che vi circondano ” ». | 12 and you shall know that I am the LORD, by whose statutes you have not lived, and whose ordinances you have not kept; rather, you have acted according to the ordinances of the nations around you. |
| 13 Ora, come avevo predetto, Pelatia, figlio di Benaia, morì; mi gettai, allora, faccia a terra a gran voce gridai: « Ah, Signore Jahve, vuoi annientare ciò che rimane di Israele? ». | 13 While I was prophesying, Pelatiah, the son of Benaiah, died. I fell prone and cried out in a loud voice: "Alas, Lord GOD! will you utterly wipe out what remains of Israel?" |
| 14 La parola di Jahve mi fu rivolta: | 14 Thus the word of the LORD came to me: |
| 15 « Figlio dell’uomo, dei tuoi fratelli, dei tuoi fratelli, gli uomini del tuo riscatto, che costituiscono tutta la casa di Israele, di essi gli abitanti di Gerusalemme vanno dicendo: “ Sono lontani da Jahve; il paese è dato in possesso a noi ”. | 15 Son of man, it is about your kinsmen, your fellow exiles, and the whole house of Israel that the inhabitants of Jerusalem say, "They are far away from the LORD; to us the land of Israel has been given as our possession." |
| 16 Per questo parla: “ Così dice il Signore Jahve: Sebbene li abbia cacciati fra le genti e li abbia dispersi per le regioni, eppure sarò il loro santuario, per poco, nelle regioni dove sono pervenuti ”. | 16 Therefore say: Thus says the Lord GOD: Though I have removed them far among the nations and scattered them over foreign countries--and was for a while their only sanctuary in the countries to which they had gone-- |
| 17 Per questo parla, riferisci: “ Così dice Jahve: Vi raccoglierò tra i popoli, vi radunerò dalle regioni dove siete stati dispersi e darò a voi il paese d’Israele. | 17 I will gather you from the nations and assemble you from the countries over which you have been scattered, and I will restore to you the land of Israel. |
| 18 Giungeranno qui e ne allontaneranno tutti gli idoli, tutti gli abomini. | 18 They shall return to it and remove from it all its detestable abominations. |
| 19 Darò loro un altro cuore, porrò nel loro interno uno spirito nuovo; strapperò dal loro corpo il cuore di pietra per dar loro un cuore di carne, | 19 I will give them a new heart and put a new spirit within them; I will remove the stony heart from their bodies, and replace it with a natural heart, |
| 20 affinchè seguano le mie leggi, osservino i miei decreti e li mettano in pratica. Saranno così il mio popolo e io sarò il loro Dio. | 20 so that they will live according to my statutes, and observe and carry out my ordinances; thus they shall be my people and I will be their God. |
| 21 Su questi, però, che seguono con il cuore i loro idoli e i loro abomini, farò ricadere sul loro capo la loro condotta — oracolo del Signore Jahve ” ». | 21 But as for those whose hearts are devoted to their detestable abominations, I will bring down their conduct upon their heads, says the Lord GOD. |
| 22 I Cherubini alzarono quindi le ali e le ruote si mossero insieme con essi, mentre la gloria del Dio di Israele stava su di loro, al di sopra. | 22 Then the cherubim lifted their wings, and the wheels went along with them, while up above them was the glory of the God of Israel. |
| 23 La gloria di Jahve, si alzò dal centro della città, e andò a fermarsi sul monte che le sta a oriente. | 23 And the glory of the LORD rose from the city and took a stand on the mountain which is to the east of the city. |
| 24 Uno spirito, allora, mi sollevò e mi trasportò in Caldea fra i deportati, in visione, nello spirito di Dio. E la visione avuta si allontanò da me. | |
| 25 lo riferii ai deportati tutto ciò che Jahve mi aveva mostrato. | |
