1 [Für den Chormeister. Nach der Weise «Zerstöre nicht!». Ein Lied Davids, als er vor Saul in die Höhle floh.]	1 For the director. Do not destroy. A miktam of David, when he fled from Saul into a cave.
2 Sei mir gnädig, o Gott, sei mir gnädig; denn ich flüchte mich zu dir. Im Schatten deiner Flügel finde ich Zuflucht, bis das Unheil vorübergeht.	2 Have mercy on me, God, have mercy on me. In you I seek shelter. In the shadow of your wings I seek shelter till harm pass by.
3 Ich rufe zu Gott, dem Höchsten, zu Gott, der mir beisteht.	3 I call to God Most High, to God who provides for me.
4 Er sende mir Hilfe vom Himmel; meine Feinde schmähen mich. [Sela] Gott sende seine Huld und Treue.	4 May God send help from heaven to save me, shame those who trample upon me. May God send fidelity and love. Selah
5 Ich muss mich mitten unter Löwen lagern, die gierig auf Menschen sind. Ihre Zähne sind Spieße und Pfeile, ein scharfes Schwert ihre Zunge.	5 I must lie down in the midst of lions hungry for human prey. Their teeth are spears and arrows; their tongue, a sharpened sword.
6 Erheb dich über die Himmel, o Gott! Deine Herrlichkeit erscheine über der ganzen Erde.	6 Show yourself over the heavens, God; may your glory appear above all the earth.
7 Sie haben meinen Schritten ein Netz gelegt und meine Seele gebeugt. Sie haben mir eine Grube gegraben; doch fielen sie selbst hinein. [Sela]	7 They have set a trap for my feet; my soul is bowed down; They have dug a pit before me. May they fall into it themselves! Selah
8 Mein Herz ist bereit, o Gott, mein Herz ist bereit, ich will dir singen und spielen.	8 My heart is steadfast, God, my heart is steadfast. I will sing and chant praise.
9 Wach auf, meine Seele! Wacht auf, Harfe und Saitenspiel! Ich will das Morgenrot wecken.	9 Awake, my soul; awake, lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn.
10 Ich will dich vor den Völkern preisen, Herr, dir vor den Nationen lobsingen.	10 I will praise you among the peoples, Lord; I will chant your praise among the nations.
11 Denn deine Güte reicht, so weit der Himmel ist, deine Treue, so weit die Wolken ziehn.	11 For your love towers to the heavens; your faithfulness, to the skies.
12 Erheb dich über die Himmel, o Gott; deine Herrlichkeit erscheine über der ganzen Erde.	12 Show yourself over the heavens, God; may your glory appear above all the earth.
