1 Frattanto si levò un mormorio nel popolo, quasi si dolessero del Signore per ragione dellefatiche. La qual cosa avendo udita il Signore, si mosse a sdegno. E il fuoco del Signoreacceso contro di essi consumò l'ultima parte degli alloggiamenti.	1 Now the people complained in the hearing of the LORD; and when he heard it his wrath flared up so that the fire of the LORD burned among them and consumed the outskirts of the camp.
2 E avendo il popolo alzate le strida a Mosè, Mosè fece orazione al Signore, e il fuocorientrò sotto terra.	2 But when the people cried out to Moses, he prayed to the LORD and the fire died out.
3 E Mosè pose a quel luogo il nome d'Incendio: perché ivi si accese il fuoco del Signorecontro di loro.	3 Hence that place was called Taberah, because there the fire of the LORD burned among them.
4 Imperocché la plebaglia, che era venuta con essi, arse d'ingorda brama, e stando assisa, epiangendo, unitisi a lei de' figliuoli d'Israele, diceva: Chi ci darà carni da mangiare?	4 The foreign elements among them were so greedy for meat that even the Israelites lamented again, "Would that we had meat for food!
5 Ci ricordiamo dei pesci, che mangiavamo a ufo in Egitto: tornano in mente a noi i cocomeri,i poponi, i porri, e le cipolle, e gli agli.	5 We remember the fish we used to eat without cost in Egypt, and the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic.
6 L'anima nostra è languente: gli occhi nostri non veggono altro, che manna.	6 But now we are famished; we see nothing before us but this manna."
7 Or la manna era simile al seme di coriandoli, del colore del bdellio:	7 Manna was like coriander seed and had the appearance of bdellium.
8 E il popolo andava intorno a raccoglierla, e la riduceva in farina sotto le macine, ovver lapestava nel mortaio, e la cuoceva nella pignatta, e ne faceva delle stiacciate di un saporequasi di pane fatto coll'olio.	8 When they had gone about and gathered it up, the people would grind it between millstones or pound it in a mortar, then cook it in a pot and make it into loaves, which tasted like cakes made with oil.
9 E caduta che era la notte la rugiada negli accampamenti, cadeva eziandio la manna.	9 At night, when the dew fell upon the camp, the manna also fell.
10 Udì adunque Mosè, come il popolo se ne stava piangendo, ognun colla sua famiglia, e sullaporta della sua tenda. E il Signore si accese di furore: e allo stesso Mosè parve cosaintollerabile.	10 When Moses heard the people, family after family, crying at the entrance of their tents, so that the LORD became very angry, he was grieved.
11 E disse al Signore: Per qual motivo hai tu afflitto il tuo servo? per qual motivo non trovoio grazia dinanzi a te? e perché mi hai tu posto sopra le spalle il peso di tutto questopopolo?	11 "Why do you treat your servant so badly?" Moses asked the LORD. "Why are you so displeased with me that you burden me with all this people?
12 Ho io concepito, o generato tutta questa turba, onde tu abbia a dirmi: Portali sul tuo seno,come suole la nutrice portare un bambinello, e conducili nella terra promessa da me congiuramento a' padri loro?	12 Was it I who conceived all this people? or was it I who gave them birth, that you tell me to carry them at my bosom, like a foster father carrying an infant, to the land you have promised under oath to their fathers?
13 Donde trarrò io le carni da dare a si gran turba? Piangono contro di me, e dicono: Da' a noidelle carni da mangiare.	13 Where can I get meat to give to all this people? For they are crying to me, 'Give us meat for our food.'
14 Non posso io solo sostenere tutto questo popolo, il quale mi pesa.	14 I cannot carry all this people by myself, for they are too heavy for me.
15 Che se a te pare altrimenti, pregoti di uccidermi, e ch'io trovi grazia negli occhi tuoi,onde non mi resti bersaglio di tanti mali.	15 If this is the way you will deal with me, then please do me the favor of killing me at once, so that I need no longer face this distress."
16 E il Signore disse a Mosè: Radunami settanta uomini de' vecchioni d'Israele, conosciuti date come anziani, e maestri del popolo: e li condurrai alla porta del tabernacolodell'alleanza, e farai che si fermino ivi con te,	16 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Assemble for me seventy of the elders of Israel, men you know for true elders and authorities among the people, and bring them to the meeting tent. When they are in place beside you,
17 E io scenderò, e ti parlerò: e prenderò del tuo spirito, e lo darò a quegli, affinché tecosostengano il peso del popolo, e non sii tu solo aggravato.	17 I will come down and speak with you there. I will also take some of the spirit that is on you and will bestow it on them, that they may share the burden of the people with you. You will then not have to bear it by yourself.
18 Al popolo parimente dirai: Purificatevi; domane mangerete delle carni, perocché io hosentito, che dicevate: Chi darà a noi delle carni da nudrirci? Noi stavamo pur bene inEgitto. Onde il Signore darà a voi delle carni, affinché ne mangiate:	18 "To the people, however, you shall say: Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, when you shall have meat to eat. For in the hearing of the LORD you have cried, 'Would that we had meat for food! Oh, how well off we were in Egypt!' Therefore the LORD will give you meat for food,
19 Non per un giorno, né per due, né per cinque, o dieci, e nemmeno per venti,	19 and you will eat it, not for one day, or two days, or five, or ten, or twenty days,
20 Ma per un mese intero, fino a tanto che vi escano per le narici, e vi muovano nausea:perocché voi avete rigettato il Signore, che è in mezzo a voi, e avete pianto al cospetto dilui dicendo: Per qual motivo siam noi usciti dall'Egitto?	20 but for a whole month-until it comes out of your very nostrils and becomes loathsome to you. For you have spurned the LORD who is in your midst, and in his presence you have wailed, 'Why did we ever leave Egypt?'"
21 E Mosè disse: Vi sono secento mila fanti di questo popolo, e tu dici: Io darò loro dellecarni da mangiare per un intero mese.	21 But Moses said, "The people around me include six hundred thousand soldiers; yet you say, 'I will give them meat to eat for a whole month.'
22 Si dovrà egli uccidere una moltitudine di pecore, e di bovi, che bastar possa a cibarli?ovvero si rauneranno insieme tutti i pesci del mare per satollarli?	22 Can enough sheep and cattle be slaughtered for them? If all the fish of the sea were caught for them, would they have enough?"
23 Rispose a lui il Signore: È ella forse spossata la mano del Signore? Tu vedrai or ora, se laparola mia sarà messa ad effetto.	23 The LORD answered Moses, "Is this beyond the LORD'S reach? You shall see now whether or not what I have promised you takes place."
24 Andò adunque Mosè, e raunati i settanta uomini degli anziani d'Israele (i quali fece starepresso al tabernacolo) riferì al popolo le parole del Signore.	24 So Moses went out and told the people what the LORD had said. Gathering seventy elders of the people, he had them stand around the tent.
25 E il Signore discese nella nuvola, e gli parlò, e prese dello spirito, che era in Mosè, e lodiede a' settanta. Ed entrato che fu in essi lo spirito, profetarono, e non finirono maipiù.	25 The LORD then came down in the cloud and spoke to him. Taking some of the spirit that was on Moses, he bestowed it on the seventy elders; and as the spirit came to rest on them, they prophesied.
26 Or due di questi erano rimasi negli alloggiamenti, de' quali uno chiamavasi Eldad, e l'altroMedad, e lo spirito si posò sopra di loro: perché anch'essi erano stati messi nel ruolo, manon erano andati al tabernacolo.	26 Now two men, one named Eldad and the other Medad, were not in the gathering but had been left in the camp. They too had been on the list, but had not gone out to the tent; yet the spirit came to rest on them also, and they prophesied in the camp.
27 E mentre essi profetavano nel campo, corse un ragazzo, e ne recò la nuova a Mosè, dicendo:Eldad e Medad profetano negli alloggiamenti.	27 So, when a young man quickly told Moses, "Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp,"
28 Subitamente Giosuè figliuolo di Nun, ministro di Mosè, eletto tra molti, disse: Signor mioMosè, non permetter loro tal cosa.	28 Joshua, son of Nun, who from his youth had been Moses' aide, said, "Moses, my lord, stop them."
29 Ma questi disse: Per qual motivo ti prendi tu gelosia per amor mio? Chi mi darà, che profetitutto il popolo, e che il Signore dia a lui il suo spirito?	29 But Moses answered him, "Are you jealous for my sake? Would that all the people of the LORD were prophets! Would that the LORD might bestow his spirit on them all!"
30 E Mosè, e i seniori d'Israele tornarono agli alloggiamenti.	30 Then Moses retired to the camp, along with the elders of Israel.
31 E un vento mandato dal Signore trasportò seco di là dal mare delle quaglie, e le fe' cadereverso gli alloggiamenti da ogni parte intorno al campo, per lo spazio d'una giornata dicammino, e svolazzavan per l'aria all'altezza di due cubiti sopra la terra.	31 There arose a wind sent by the LORD, that drove in quail from the sea and brought them down over the camp site at a height of two cubits from the ground for the distance of a day's journey all around the camp.
32 Si mosse allora il popolo, e per tutto quel giorno, e la notte, e il dì seguente raunaronoquelli che n'ebbero il meno, dieci cori di quaglie: e le seccarono intorno aglialloggiamenti.	32 All that day, all night, and all the next day the people gathered in the quail. Even the one who got the least gathered ten homers of them. Then they spread them out all around the camp.
33 Egli no avean tuttora tra' denti le carni, e non era venuto meno quel cibo, ed ecco chel'ira del Signore accesa contro del popolo, lo percosse con flagello stragrande.	33 But while the meat was still between their teeth, before it could be consumed, the LORD'S wrath flared up against the people, and he struck them with a very great plague.
34 Donde fu chiamato quel luogo i Sepolcri della concupiscenza: perché qui vi seppellirò lagente d'ingorda brama. Partiti di poi da' sepolcri della concupiscenza, giunsero ad Haserot,e ivi fermaronsi.	34 So that place was named Kibroth-hattaavah, because it was there that the greedy people were buried.
	35 From Kibroth-hattaavah the people set out for Hazeroth.
