1 Azaria figliuolo di Obed preso dallo Spirito di Dio,	1 And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:
2 Andò incontro ad Asa, e gli disse: Udite le mie parole tu, o Asa, e tutto Giuda, e tutto Benjamin: Il Signore (è stato) con voi, perchè voi siete stati con lui. Se lo cercherete, lo troverete: se lo abbandonerete, egli vi abbandonerà.	2 And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.
3 Molto tempo passerà Israele senza il vero Dio, e senza sacerdote, e senza dottore, e senza legge.	3 Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.
4 E quando nelle angustie loro si rivolgeranno al Signore Dio loro, e lo cercheranno, lo troveranno.	4 But when they in their trouble did turn unto the LORD God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.
5 In quel tempo non vi sarà sicurezza per andare, e venire, ma saranno in terrore da ogni parte tutti gli abitatori della terra:	5 And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the countries.
6 Perocché prenderà le armi nazione contro nazione, e città contro città; perocché il Signore li porrà in iscompiglio con ogni sorta d'afflizioni.	6 And nation was destroyed of nation, and city of city: for God did vex them with all adversity.
7 Voi pertanto armatevi di coraggio,e non s'illanguidiscano le vostre braccia: conciossiachè della fatica vostra avrete mercede.	7 Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.
8 Ma Asa avendo udite le parole, di profezia di Azaria figliuolo di Obed profeta, si fece animo, e tolse via gl'idoli da tutto il paese di Giuda, e di Beniamin, e dalle città del montel Ephraim, che egli aveva espugnate, e dedicò l'altare del Signore che era dinanzi al portico del tempio del Signore.	8 And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the LORD, that was before the porch of the LORD.
9 E convocò tutto Giuda, Beniamin, e con essi gli estranei di Ephraim, e di Manasse, e di Simeon: perocché molti di quei d'Israele si ricoveravano presso di lui, veggendo come il Signore Dio suo era con lui.	9 And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that the LORD his God was with him.
10 E quando furon venuti a Gerusalemme il terzo mese dell'anno decimoquinto del regno di Asa,	10 So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.
11 Immolarono al Signore in quel di settecento bovi, e sette mila arieti della preda, che avean portata.	11 And they offered unto the LORD the same time, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep.
12 Ed egli entrò secondo la costumanza affine di confermar l'alleanza, affinchè seguissero con tutto il cuore, e con tutta l'anima loro il Signore Dio de' padri loro.	12 And they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;
13 Chiunque poi, disse egli, non cercherà il Signore Dio d'Israele, sia messo a morte o grande, o piccolo ch'ei sia, o maschio, o femmina.	13 That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.
14 E fecer giuramento al Signore a voce altissima, con gran festa, tragli strepiti delle trombe, e al suono dei flauti,	14 And they sware unto the LORD with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.
15 Tutti quelli di Giuda con imprecazioni: perocché di tutto cuore giurarono, e con pienezza di volontà cercarono lui, e lo trovarono: e il Signore diede loro la pace da tutte parti.	15 And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the LORD gave them rest round about.
16 E di più a Maacha madre di Asa re fu tolta da lui l'augusta dignità, perchè ella avea collocato in un boschetto il simolacro di Priapo; il quale egli ridusse in pezzi, e in polvere, e gettollo alle fiamme nel torrente Ceron.	16 And also concerning Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.
17 Nondimeno rimasero in Israele i luoghi eccelsi; ma contuttociò il cuore di Asa fu perfetto in tutto il tempo di sua vita.	17 But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.
18 Ed egli portò nel tempio del Signore quello, che egli, e il padre suo avean promesso con voto, l'argento, e l'oro, e vasi di varie maniere.	18 And he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.
19 E non fu guerra sino all'anno trentesimoquinto del re Asa.	19 And there was no more war unto the five and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa.
