1 Paolo, chiamato apostolo di Gesù Cristo per volontà di Dio, e il fratello Sostene	1 Paul, cal ed by the wil of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and Sosthenes, our brother,
2 alla chiesa di Dio che è in Corinto, ai santificati in Cristo Gesù, chiamati santi, a tutti quelli che, dovunque sia, invocano il nome del nostro Signore Gesù Cristo, loro e nostro Signore.	2 to the church of God in Corinth, to those who have been consecrated in Christ Jesus and cal ed to beGod's holy people, with al those everywhere who cal on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord as wel asours.
3 Grazie e pace a voi da Dio padre nostro e dal Signore Gesù Cristo.	3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 Io rendo continuamente grazie al mio Dio, riguardo a voi, per la grazia di Dio che vi è stata fatta in Gesù Cristo;	4 I am continual y thanking God about you, for the grace of God which you have been given in ChristJesus;
5 perche in lui siete divenuti ricchi di ogni cosa, d'ogni dono di parole e di scienza,	5 in him you have been richly endowed in every kind of utterance and knowledge;
6 essendo la testimonianza di Cristo confermata in mezzo a voi	6 so firmly has witness to Christ taken root in you.
7 in modo che non manchi dono alcuno a voi che aspettate la manifestazione del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo,	7 And so you are not lacking in any gift as you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed;
8 il quale vi farà anche perseverare sino alla fine, perchè siate senza colpa nel giorno della venuta del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo.	8 he will continue to give you strength till the very end, so that you will be irreproachable on the Day ofour Lord Jesus Christ.
9 Dio, dal quale siete stati chiamati alla società del suo Figliolo Gesù Cristo Signore nostro, è fedele.	9 You can rely on God, who has called you to be partners with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
10 Io vi esorto, o fratelli, nel nome del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo, ad essere tutti d'un medesimo linguaggio, a non creare scismi tra voi, ma a stare perfettamente uniti in un medesimo pensiero e in un medesimo sentimento.	10 Brothers, I urge you, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, not to have factions among yourselves butal to be in agreement in what you profess; so that you are perfectly united in your beliefs and judgements.
11 Perchè riguardo a voi, o miei fratelli, da quelli di Cloe mi è stato riferito esservi tra voi delle contese.	11 From what Chloe's people have been telling me about you, brothers, it is clear that there are seriousdifferences among you.
12 Sarebbe a dire che ciascuno di voi dice: « Io poi son di Paolo », « e io di Apollo », « e io di Cefa », « io invece di Cristo ».	12 What I mean is this: every one of you is declaring, 'I belong to Paul,' or 'I belong to Apollos,' or 'Ibelong to Cephas,' or 'I belong to Christ.'
13 E' egli diviso Cristo? E' forse stato crocifìsso per voi Paolo? Che forse nel nome di Paolo siete stati battezzati?	13 Has Christ been split up? Was it Paul that was crucified for you, or was it in Paul's name that you werebaptised?
14 Ringrazio Dio di non aver battezzato di voi altri che Crispo e Gaio,	14 I am thankful I did not baptise any of you, except Crispus and Gaius,
15 perchè nessuno possa dire che siete stati battezzati nel mio nome.	15 so that no one can say that you were baptised in my name.
16 Ho battezzato anche la famiglia di Stefana: tolti questi, non so di aver battezzato altri.	16 Yes, I did baptise the family of Stephanas, too; but besides these I do not think I baptised anyone.
17 Del resto, non a battezzare mi ha mandato Cristo, ma a predicare il Vangelo, e senza sapienza di parole, affinché non sia resa vana la croce di Cristo.	17 After al , Christ sent me not to baptise, but to preach the gospel; and not by means of wisdom oflanguage, wise words which would make the cross of Christ pointless.
18 Infatti la dottrina della croce è una follia per quelli che si perdono, ma per quelli che si salvano, per noi, è la potenza di Dio.	18 The message of the cross is fol y for those who are on the way to ruin, but for those of us who are onthe road to salvation it is the power of God.
19 Così difatti sta scritto: Sperderò la sapienza dei savi e annienterò la sapienza dei prudenti.	19 As scripture says: I am going to destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring to nothing theunderstanding of any who understand.
20 Dov'è il savio? Dov'è lo scriba? Dov'è l'indagatore di questo secolo? Non ha forse Dio dimostrata pazza la sapienza di questo mondo?	20 Where are the philosophers? Where are the experts? And where are the debaters of this age? Do younot see how God has shown up human wisdom as fol y?
21 Difatti, siccome il mondo colla sua sapienza non ha conosciuto Dio, nella sua sapienza piacque a Dio di salvare i credenti colla stoltezza della predicazione.	21 Since in the wisdom of God the world was unable to recognise God through wisdom, it was God's ownpleasure to save believers through the fol y of the gospel.
22 Or mentre i Giudei esigono dei miracoli e i Greci cercan della sapienza,	22 While the Jews demand miracles and the Greeks look for wisdom,
23 noi predichiamo Cristo crocifisso, scandalo per i Giudei e pei Gentili stoltezza.	23 we are preaching a crucified Christ: to the Jews an obstacle they cannot get over, to the gentilesfoolishness,
24 Ma per quelli che sono chiamati, sian Giudei che Greci, Cristo è virtù di Dio e sapienza di Dio;	24 but to those who have been cal ed, whether they are Jews or Greeks, a Christ who is both the powerof God and the wisdom of God.
25 perche la follìa di Dio è più savia degli uomini, e la debolezza di Dio è più forte degli uomini.	25 God's fol y is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength.
26 Considerate infatti la vostra vocazione, o fratelli, come non son molti i sapienti secondo la carne, non molti i potenti, non molti i nobili;	26 Consider, brothers, how you were cal ed; not many of you are wise by human standards, not manyinfluential, not many from noble families.
27 ma Dio ha scelto le cose tenute stolte dal mondo per confondere i sapienti, e le cose deboli del mondo Dio le elesse per confondere le forti.	27 No, God chose those who by human standards are fools to shame the wise; he chose those who byhuman standards are weak to shame the strong,
28 E le ignobili cose del mondo e le spregevoli queste elesse Dio e quelle che non sono per distruggere quelle che sono,	28 those who by human standards are common and contemptible -- indeed those who count for nothing-- to reduce to nothing al those that do count for something,
29 affinchè nessuno si possa vantare dinanzi a lui.	29 so that no human being might feel boastful before God.
30 Or è per lui che voi siete in Cristo Gesù, il quale da Dio è stato fatto per noi sapienza e giustizia e santificazione e redenzione,	30 It is by him that you exist in Christ Jesus, who for us was made wisdom from God, and saving justiceand holiness and redemption.
31 affinchè, come sta scritto: Chi si gloria, si glorii nel Signore.	31 As scripture says: If anyone wants to boast, let him boast of the Lord.
