Isaia 1

1 Visione d'Isaia, figlio di Amos, da lui veduta, relativamente a Giuda e a Gerusalemme, al tempo d'Ozia, di Ioatan, di Acaz e di Ezechia, re di Giuda.	1 The vision of Isaiah, the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem, in the days of Uzziah, Joatham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
2 « Udite, o cieli, e tu porgi l'orecchio, o terra; perchè il Signore ha parlato: ho nutriti ed esaltati dei figli, ed essi mi han disprezzato.	2 Listen, O heavens, and pay attention, O earth, for the Lord has spoken. I have nurtured and raised children, but they have spurned me.
3 Il bue conosce il suo padrone, e l'asino la greppia del suo signore; ma Israele non mi riconosce; il popolo mio non intende.	3 An ox knows his owner, and a donkey knows the manger of his lord, but Israel has not known me, and my people have not understood.
4 Guai alla nazione peccatrice, al popolo carico d'iniquità, alla razza malvagia, ai figli scellerati: hanno abbandonato il Signore, han bestemmiato il santo d'Israele, si sono allontanati, voltando le spalle.	4 Woe to a sinful nation, a people burdened by iniquity, a wicked offspring, accursed children. They have abandoned the Lord. They have blasphemed the Holy One of Israel. They been taken away backwards.
5 Dove devo percuotervi ancora, se aggiungete altre prevaricazioni? Il capo è tutto malato, il cuore è tutto afflitto:	5 For what reason shall I continue to strike you, as you increase transgressions? The entire head is feeble, and the entire heart is grieving.
6 dalla pianta dei piedi alla sommità della testa non vi è in lui nulla di sano: è tutto ferite e lividure, piaghe marciose, non fasciate, non medicate, nè addolcite coll'olio.	6 From the sole of the foot, even to the top of the head, there is no soundness within. Wounds and bruises and swelling sores: these are not bandaged, nor treated with medicine, nor soothed with oil.
7 Il vostro paese è deserto, le vostre città son consumate dal fuoco, i vostri possessi son divorati, sotto i vostri occhi, dagli stranieri: la devastazione sarà come quella d'un nemico.	7 Your land is desolate. Your cities have been set ablaze. Foreigners devour your countryside in your sight, and it will become desolate, as if devastated by enemies.
8 La figlia di Sion rimarrà come una capanna in una vigna, come un tugurio in un cocomeraio, come una città abbandonata al saccheggio.	8 And the daughter of Zion will be left behind, like an arbor in a vineyard, and like a shelter in a cucumber field, and like a city being laid to waste.
9 Se il Signore degli eserciti non avesse lasciato di noi semenza, noi saremmo come Sodoma, saremmo simili a Gomorra.	9 If the Lord of hosts had not bequeathed us offspring, we would have been like Sodom, and we would have been comparable to Gomorrah.
10 Udite la parola del Signore, o principi di Sodoma, porgi l'orecchio alla legge del nostro Dio, o popolo di Gomorra.	10 Listen to the Word of the Lord, you leaders of the people of Sodom. Listen closely to the law of our God, O people of Gomorrah.
11 Che me ne faccio della moltitudine delle vostre vittime? dice il Signore. Ne son pieno. Non voglio olocausti d'arieti, grasso di pingui bovi, sangue di vitelli, d'agnelli e di capri.	11 The multitude of your sacrifices, what is that to me, says the Lord? I am full. I do not desire holocausts of rams, nor the fat of fatlings, nor the blood of calves and of lambs and of he-goats.
12 Quando voi venite a presentarvi al mio cospetto, chi v'ha mai chieste queste cose e di andare a spasso pei miei cortili?	12 When you approach before my sight, who is it that requires these things from your hands, so that you would walk in my courts?
13 Non seguitate ad offrir vani sacrifizi: abomino l'incenso, non posso patir il novilunio, il sabato e le altre feste: le vostre adunanze sono inique.	13 You should no longer offer sacrifice vain. Incense is an abomination to me. The new moons and the Sabbaths and the other feast days, I will not receive. Your gatherings are iniquitous.
14 L'anima mia odia i vostri noviluni e le vostre solennità; mi son diventate un peso: sono stanco di sopportarle.	14 My soul hates your days of proclamation and your solemnities. They have become bothersome to me. I labor to endure them.
15 Quando stenderete le vostre mani, rivolgerò gli occhi altrove, quando moltiplicherete le preghiere, non darò ascolto; perchè le vostre mani son piene di sangue.	15 And so, when you extend your hands, I will avert my eyes from you. And when you multiply your prayers, I will not heed you. For your hands are full of blood.
16 Lavatevi, purificatevi, togliete la malvagità dei vostri pensieri lungi dai miei occhi; cessate di fare il male,	16 Wash, become clean, take away the evil of your intentions from my eyes. Cease to act perversely.
17 imparate a fare il bene, cercate la giustizia, soccorrete l'oppresso, proteggete l'orfano, difendete la vedova.	17 Learn to do good. Seek judgment, support the oppressed, judge for the orphan, defend the widow.
18 « Orsù venite, accusatemi, — dice il Signore. — Se i vostri peccati fossero come scarlatto, diventeranno bianchi come la neve; e se fossero vermigli come la cocciniglia, diverranno bianchi come la lana.	18 And then approach and accuse me, says the Lord. Then, if your sins are like scarlet, they shall be made white like snow; and if they are red like vermillion, they shall become white like wool.
19 Se di buona volontà mi ascolterete, mungerete i beni della terra.	19 If you are willing, and you listen to me, then you will eat the good things of the land.
20 Ma se resisterete e mi provocherete a sdegno, la spada vi divorerà, perchè la bocca del Signore ha parlato ».	20 But if you are not willing, and you provoke me to anger, then the sword will devour you. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
21 Come ha fatto a diventare una prostituta la città fedele e piena d'equità? Era sede della giustizia, ma ora (è sedo) dell'omicida.	21 How has the faithful city, full of judgment, become a harlot? Justice lived in her, but now murderers.
22 Il tuo argento è andato in scoria, il tuo vino è mescolato coll'acqua.	22 Your silver has turned into dross. Your wine has been mixed with water.
23 I tuoi principi sono degli infedeli, son compagni dei ladri, tutti quanti amano i regali, van dietro al guadagno; non rendon ragione all'orfano, e la causa della vedova non arriva fino a loro.	23 Your leaders are unfaithful, the associates of thieves. They all love gifts; they pursue rewards. They do not judge for orphans, and the widow’s case is not brought before them.
24 Per questo dice il Signore, Dio degli eserciti, il Forte d'Israele: « Ahi! Prenderò soddisfazione sopra i miei avversari, e mi vendicherò sopra i miei nemici.	24 Because of this, the Lord God of hosts, the Strength of Israel, says: Ah! I will be consoled over my enemies, and I will be vindicated from my adversaries.
25 Poi stesa sopra di te la mia mano, ti purificherò col fuoco dalla tua scoria, e toglierò tutto lo stagno che è in te.	25 And I will turn my hand to you. And I will temper your dross unto purity, and I will take away all your tin.
26 E renderò i tuoi giudici come eran prima, e i tuoi consiglieri come erano in antico. Dopo ciò sarai chiamata la città del giusto, la città fedele ».	26 And I will restore your judges, so that they will be as before, and your counselors as in times long past. After this, you shall be called the City of the Just, the Faithful City.
27 Sion sarà redenta in giudizio e messa in libertà per giustizia.	27 Zion will be redeemed in judgment, and they will lead her back to justice.
28 Ma (Dio) stritolerà insieme scelerati e peccatori, e quelli che hanno abbandonato il Signore saran consumati.	28 And he shall crush the accursed and sinners together. And those who have abandoned the Lord will be consumed.
29 Essi si vergogneranno dogli idoli ai quali sacrificarono, e voi vi vergognerete degli orti da voi eletti,	29 For they shall be confounded because of the idols, to which they have sacrificed. And you shall be ashamed over the gardens that you chose,
30 quando sarete come quercia dalle foglie cadute, e come orto senz'acqua.	30 when you were like an oak with falling leaves, and like a garden without water.
31 E la vostra fortezza sarà come favilla di stoppa, e l'opera vostra (ne sarà) come la scintilla: tutt'e due insieme andranno in fiamme, e non vi sarà nessuno che possa spegnerle.	31 And your strength will be like the embers from stubble, and your work will be like a spark, and both will burn together, and there will be no one to extinguish it.
