1 All'uomo di dura cervice che disprezza chi lo corregge, piomberà addosso all'improvviso la rovina, e non ci sarà rimedio per lui.	1 The man who, with a stiff neck, treats the one who corrects him with contempt will be suddenly overwhelmed to his own destruction, and reason shall not follow him.
2 Quando i giusti si moltiplicano, il popolo si rallegra, quando salgono al potere gli empi il popolo geme.	2 When just men are multiplied, the common people shall rejoice. When the impious take up the leadership, the people shall mourn.
3 L'uomo che ama la sapienza dà consolazioni a suo padre, ma chi mantiene le meretrici rovinerà il patrimonio.	3 The man who loves wisdom rejoices his father. But whoever nurtures promiscuous women will lose his substance.
4 Il re giusto rialza lo stato, l'uomo avaro lo distrugge.	4 A just king guides the land. A man of avarice will destroy it.
5 L'uomo che parla al suo amico con adulazioni e fintaggini tende una rete ai piedi di lui.	5 A man who speaks to his friend with flattering and feigned words spreads a net for his own feet.
6 L'uomo peccatore e iniquo cadrà nel laccio, e il giusto canterà e farà festa.	6 A snare will entangle the iniquitous when he sins. And the just shall praise and be glad.
7 Il giusto conosce la causa dei poveri, l'empio non ne capisce niente.	7 The just knows the case of the poor. The impious is ignorant of knowledge.
8 Gli uomini corrotti distruggon la città, invece i sapienti la, salvan dall'ira.	8 Pestilent men squander a city. Yet truly, the wise avert fury.
9 L'uomo sapiente se viene a contesa con lo stolto, o che s'arrabbi o che rida, non avrà pace,	9 A wise man, if he were to contend with the foolish, whether in anger or in laughter, would find no rest.
10 Gli uomini sanguinari odiano l'uomo integro, i giusti invece ne cercano la salvezza.	10 Bloodthirsty men hate the simple one; but the just seek out his soul.
11 Lo stolto sfoga tutto il suo animo, il saggio aspetta e riserva all'avvenire.	11 A foolish one offers everything on his mind. A wise one reserves and defers until later.
12 Il principe che ascolta volentieri le menzogne ha ministri tutti malvagi.	12 A leader who freely listens to lying words has only impious servants.
13 Il povero e il creditore si vanno incontro, il Signore ha data la luce a tutti e due.	13 The pauper and the creditor have met one another. The Lord is the illuminator of them both.
14 Il re che con lealtà rende giustizia ai poveri avrà stabile il suo trono in eterno.	14 The king who judges the poor in truth, his throne shall be secured in eternity.
15 La verga e la correzione danno saggezza; ma il fanciullo abbandonato ai suoi capricci fa vergogna a sua madre.	15 The rod and its correction distribute wisdom. But the child who is left to his own will brings shame to his mother.
16 Moltiplicandosi gli empi, si moltiplicano i delitti, e i giusti ne vedranno le rovine.	16 When the impious are multiplied, crimes will be multiplied. But the just shall see their ruin.
17 Educa tuo figlio e ti sarà di consolazione, sarà la delizia dell'anima tua.	17 Teach your son, and he will refresh you, and he will give delight to your soul.
18 Quando la profezia verrà meno, il popolo sarà dissipato, ma è beato chi osserva la legge.	18 When prophecy fails, the people will be scattered. Yet truly, whoever guards the law is blessed.
19 Il servo non si può educare a parole, perchè comprende quanto dici, ma sdegna rispondere.	19 A servant cannot be taught by words, because he understands what you say, but he disdains to respond.
20 Hai tu visto un uomo precipitoso nel parlare? C'è da sperare più l'emendamento della follìa che il suo.	20 Have you seen a man rushing to speak? Foolishness has more hope than his correction.
21 Chi alleva delicatamente fin dall'infanzia il suo servo, poi se lo ritroverà ribelle.	21 Whoever nurtures his servant delicately from childhood, afterwards will find him defiant.
22 L'uomo iracondo provoca le risse, chi è facile ad arrabbiarsi sarà molto proclive a peccare.	22 A short-tempered man provokes quarrels. And whoever is easily angered is more likely to sin.
23 L'umiliazione segue il superbo, e la gloria abbraccerà l'umile di cuore.	23 Humiliation follows the arrogant. And glory shall uphold the humble in spirit.
24 Chi s'associa al ladro odia la sua anima, sente chi lo scongiura e non palesa.	24 Whoever participates with a thief hates his own soul; for he listens to his oath and does not denounce him.
25 Chi ha paura dell'uomo cadrà ben presto, chi spera nel Signore sarà esaltato.	25 Whoever fears man will quickly fall. Whoever hopes in the Lord shall be lifted up.
26 Molti cercano il favore del principe, ma dal Signore verrà il giudizio di ciascuno di noi.	26 Many demand the face of the leader. But the judgment of each one proceeds from the Lord.
27 I giusti hanno in abbonimio gli empi, gli empi hanno in abbominio quelli che son nella retta strada. Il figlio che mette in pratica la parola sarà sicuro dalla perdizione.	27 The just abhor an impious man. And the impious abhor those who are on the right way. By keeping the word, the son shall be free from perdition.
