1 Allora Mosè rispose: «Essi non mi crederanno, non ascolteranno la mia voce, anzi diranno: Il Signore non ti è apparso ».	1 Responding, Moses said, “They will not believe me, and they will not listen to my voice, but they will say: ‘The Lord has not appeared to you.’ ”
2 E il Signore a lui: « Che è quello che hai in mano? » « Un bastone » rispose.	2 Therefore, he said to him, “What is that you hold in your hand?” He answered, “A staff.”
3 Ed il Signore disse: « Gettalo in terra ». Lo gettò, e fu cambiato in un serpente tale che Mosè fuggì.	3 And the Lord said, “Cast it down upon the ground.” He cast it down, and it was turned into a snake, so that Moses fled away.
4 Ma il Signore disse: « Stendi la mano e prendilo per la coda ». Stese la mano, lo prese e gli ritornò bastone.	4 And the Lord said, “Reach out your hand, and take hold of its tail.” He reached out his hand and took hold, and it was turned into a staff.
5 « (Or questo farai), disse Dio, affinchè essi credano che ti è apparso il Signore Dio dei loro padri, il Dio d'Abramo, il Dio d'Isacco, il Dio di Giacobbe ».	5 “So may they believe,” he said, “that the Lord God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”
6 Poi il Signore disse: « Mettiti una mano in seno ». E messala che l'ebbe in seno, la cavò fuori lebbrosa, bianca come la neve.	6 And the Lord said again, “Put your hand into your bosom.” And when he had put it into his bosom, he brought it out leprous, resembling snow.
7 E il Signore gli disse: « Rimetti la mano in seno ». La rimise, e la cavò di seno ritornata come l'altra carne.	7 “Put your hand back,” he said, “into your bosom.” He put it back and brought it out again, and it was like the rest of his flesh.
8 « Or dunque, disse Dio, se non ti crederanno e non intenderanno il linguaggio del primo segno, crederanno a quello del secondo.	8 “If they will not believe you,” he said, “and will not listen to the sermon of the first sign, then they will believe the word of the subsequent sign.
9 Sè poi non crederanno neppure a questi due segni, e non ascolteranno la tua voce, prendi dell'acqua del fiume e versala per terra, e quanta ne avrai presa dal fiume si convertirà in sangue ».	9 But if they will not believe even these two signs, and they will not listen to your voice: take from the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land, and whatever you will have drawn from the river will be turned into blood.”
10 Mosè disse: « Scusami, Signore, io non sono mai stato di facile parola, e dacché tu hai parlato al tuo servo, la mia lingua è più imbarazzata e più tarda che mai ».	10 Moses said: “I beg you, O Lord, I was not eloquent yesterday or the day before. And from the time that you have spoken to your servant, I have a greater impediment and slowness of tongue.”
11 E il Signore a lui: « Chi ha fatta la bocca dell'uomo? Chi rende muto e sordo, veggente e cieco? Non son forse io?	11 The Lord said to him: “Who made the mouth of man? And who has formed the mute and the deaf, the seeing and the blind? Was it not I?
12 Or dunque va, che parlerò io colla tua bocca, t'insegnerò io quello che dovrai dire ».	12 Go on, therefore, and I will be in your mouth. And I will teach you what you shall say.”
13 E Mosè disse: « Te ne scongiuro, Signore, mandane un altro più adatto! »	13 But he said, “I beg you, O Lord, send whomever else you would send.”
14 Allora il Signore, adirato contro Mosè, disse: « Io so che Aronne tuo fratello Levita è eloquente: ecco egli esce fuori ad incontrarti, e nel vederti si rallegrerà di cuore.	14 The Lord, being angry at Moses, said: “Aaron the Levite is your brother. I know that he is eloquent. Behold, he is going out to meet you, and seeing you, he will rejoice in heart.
15 Parla a lui, mettigli in bocca le mie parole, ed io sarò colla tua e colla sua bocca, e vi mostrerò quel che dovrete fare.	15 Speak to him, and put my words in his mouth. And I will be in your mouth and in his mouth, and I will reveal to you what you must do.
16 Egli parlerà al popolo per te, e sarà la tua bocca: tu poi lo guiderai nelle cose che appartengono a Dio.	16 He will speak for you to the people, and he will be your mouth. But you will be with him in those things that pertain to God.
17 Or prendi in mano questa verga, colla quale opererai prodigi ».	17 Also, take this staff into your hand; with it you will accomplish the signs.”
18 E Mosè partitosi di lì andò da Ietro suo suocero, e gli disse: « Lascia che io me ne vada e torni dai miei fratelli in Egitto, a vedere se sono ancora vivi ». E Ietro gli disse: «Va in pace».	18 Moses went forth, and he returned to Jethro, his father in law, and he said to him, “I shall go and return to my brothers in Egypt, so that I may see if they are still alive.” And Jethro said to him, “Go in peace.”
19 Infatti il Signore aveva detto a Mosè in Madian: « Va e torna in Egitto, perchè son morti tutti quelli che volevano toglierti la vita ».	19 And so the Lord said to Moses in Midian: “Go, and return to Egypt. For all those who sought your life have died.”
20 Mosè adunque prese la sua moglie e i suoi figlioli, li pose sopra un asino, e se ne tornò in Egitto, portando in mano la verga di Dio.	20 Therefore, Moses took his wife and his sons, and he placed them upon a donkey, and he returned into Egypt, carrying the staff of God in his hand.
21 E il Signore disse a Mosè quando ritornava in Egitto: « Cerca di fare davanti a Faraone tutti i prodigi che ho messi a tua disposizione. Io poi indurerò il suo cuore ed egli non lascerà partire il popolo,	21 And the Lord said to him, as he was returning to Egypt: “See that you accomplish, in the sight of Pharaoh, all the wonders that I have placed in your hand. I will harden his heart, and he will not release the people.
22 E tu gli dirai: Queste cose dice il Signore: Israele è il mio figlio primo genito,	22 And you shall say to him: ‘Thus says the Lord: Israel is my firstborn son.
23 e quindi ti ho detto: Lascia partire il mio figliolo, affinchè mi serva; ma siccome tu non hai voluto lasciarlo partire, ecco che io Deciderò il tuo figliolo primogenito ».	23 I have said to you: Release my son, so that he may serve me. And you were not willing to release him. Behold, I will put to death your firstborn son.’ ”
24 E mentre Mosè era in viaggio, il Signore si presentò a lui nell'albergo e voleva farlo morire.	24 And while he was on the journey, at an inn, the Lord met him, and he was willing to kill him.
25 Ma Sefora, presa subito una pietra tagliente, circoncise il prepuzio del suo figlio, toccò i piedi di lui e disse: « Tu mi sei uno sposo di sangue ».	25 For this reason, Zipporah took a very sharp stone, and she circumcised the foreskin of her son, and she touched his feet, and she said, “You are a bloody spouse to me.”
26 E (il Signore) lo lasciò, appena (Sefora), a motivo della circoncisione, ebbe detto: « Sposo di sangue ».	26 And he released him, after she had said, “You are a bloody spouse,” because of the circumcision.
27 E il Signore disse ad Aronne: « Va incontro a Mosè nel deserto ». E Aronne gli andò incontro fino al monte di Dio, e lo baciò.	27 Then the Lord said to Aaron, “Go into the desert to meet Moses.” And he went directly to meet him on the mountain of God, and he kissed him.
28 E Mosè riferì ad Aronne tutte le parole che il Signore l'aveva incaricato di dire, e i prodigi che gli aveva comandato di fare.	28 And Moses explained to Aaron all the words of the Lord, by which he had sent him, and the signs which he had commanded.
29 E andarono insieme, e radunarono tutti gli anziani dei figlioli d'Israele.	29 And they arrived at the same time, and they gathered together all the elders of the sons of Israel.
30 E Aronne riferì tutte le parole che il Signore aveva dette a Mosè. Avendo poi Mosè fatti i miracoli in presenza del popolo,	30 And Aaron spoke all the words which the Lord had said to Moses. And he accomplished the signs in the sight of the people,
31 questo credette, e sentito che il Signore visitava i figlioli d'Israele, perchè ne aveva veduta l'oppressione, si prostrarono e adorarono.	31 and the people believed. And they heard that the Lord had visited the sons of Israel, and that he had looked with favor upon their affliction. And falling prostrate, they worshiped.
