| 3 Allora l'angelo Raffaele prese il demonio e lo relegò nel deserto dell'alto Egitto. | 3 And when the demon smelled the odor he fled to the remotest parts of Egypt, and the angel bound him. |
| 4 Tobia intanto esortava la vergine, dicendole: « Sara, levati, e preghiamo Dio, oggi, domani e doman l'altro, perchè in queste tre notti dobbiamo stare uniti con Dio, passata poi la terza notte, vivremo nel nostro matrimonio: | 4 When the door was shut and the two were alone, Tobias got up from the bed and said, "Sister, get up, and let us pray that the Lord may have mercy upon us." |
| 5 noi siam figli di santi, e non possiamo unirci come i gentili che non conoscono Dio ». | 5 And Tobias began to pray, "Blessed art thou, O God of our fathers, and blessed by thy holy and glorious name for ever. Let the heavens and all thy creatures bless thee. |
| 6 Stando alzati tutti e due si misero a pregare con fervore, per essere incolumi. | 6 Thou madest Adam and gavest him Eve his wife as a helper and support. From them the race of mankind has sprung. Thou didst say, 'It is not good that the man should be alone; let us make a helper for him like himself.' |
| 7 Tobia disse: « Signore, Dio dei padri nostri, ti benedicano i cieli, la terra, il mare, le fonti, i fiumi, con tutte le creature che racchiudono. | 7 And now, O Lord, I am not taking this sister of mine because of lust, but with sincerity. Grant that I may find mercy and may grow old together with her." |
| 8 Tu dal fango della terra facesti Adamo, e gli desti come aiuto Èva. | 8 And she said with him, "Amen." |

| 16 Tornata a portar la buona nuova, Raguele ed Anna sua moglie benedissero Dio | 16 Blessed art thou, because thou hast made me glad. It has not happened to me as I expected; but thou hast treated us according to thy great mercy. |
| 17 è dissero: « Ti benediciamo, o Signore Dio d'Israele, perchè non è avvenuto secondo i nostri timori: | 17 Blessed art thou, because thou hast had compassion on two only children. Show them mercy, O Lord; and bring their lives to fulfilment in health and happiness and mercy." |
| 18 tu hai usato verso di noi la tua misericordia, hai allontanato da noi il nemico che ci perseguitava, | 18 Then he ordered his servants to fill in the grave. |
| 19 hai avuto pietà di due figli unici. Fa, o Signore, che essi ti benedicano sempre più e ti offrano un sacrifizio di lode per la loro salute, affinchè tutte quante le genti conoscano che tu solo sei Dio in tutta la terra ». | 19 After this he gave a wedding feast for them which lasted fourteen days. |
| 20 Raguele ordinò subito ai suoi servi di riempire, avanti che si facesse giorno, la fossa che avevano fatta. | 20 And before the days of the feast were over, Raguel declared by oath to Tobias that he should not leave until the fourteen days of the wedding feast were ended, |

| 23 Raguele scongiurò Tobia a trattenersi a casa sua due settimane, | |
| 24 e diede a Tobia metà di quanto aveva, dichiarandolo per iscritto erede dell'altra metà, dopo la morte sua e della moglie. | |
