1 Or passati venti anni dacché Salomone aveva edificata la casa del Signore e la sua,	1 At the end of the twenty years which it took Solomon to build the Temple of Yahweh and his ownpalace,
2 riedificò le città dategli da Hiram, e vi fece abitare i figli d'Israele.	2 and to rebuild the towns which Huram had given him and settle them with Israelites,
3 Andò pure ad Emat Suba, e l'occupò.	3 Solomon mounted an expedition against Hamath-Zobah and captured it.
4 Edificò Paimira nel deserto, e altre città fortificatissime in Emat.	4 He also fortified Tadmor in the desert and all the storage towns which he had built in Hamath.
5 Ricostruì pure Betoron superiore e Betoron inferiore, città munite di mura, di porte, sbarre e serrature.	5 He also built Upper Beth-Horon and Lower Beth-Horon as fortified towns with wal s and gates and bars,
6 Così anche Balat e tutte le città forti che appartenevano a Salomone, e tutte le cit­tà dei carri e quelle della cavalleria. Tutto quello che volle e dispose egli lo edificò, in Gerusa­lemme, sul Libano e in tutta l'estensione del suo dominio.	6 also Baalath and al Solomon's storage towns, al the towns for his chariots and horses, and everythingwhich Solomon was pleased to build in Jerusalem, in the Lebanon and throughout the territory under his rule.
7 Tutta la gente rimasta degli Etei, degli Amorrei, dei Ferezei, degli Evei, dei Gebusei, i quali non eran della stirpe d'Israele,	7 Al those who survived of the Hittite, Amorite, Perizzite, Hivite and Jebusite peoples, who did not belongto Israel-
8 i loro figli e discendenti che gl'israeliti non avevano uccisi, Salomone li assoggettò al tributo fino a questo giorno.	8 those of their descendants stil remaining in the country, whom the Israelites had not exterminated,these Solomon levied for forced labour, as is stil the case today.
9 Ma i figli d'Israele non l'impiegò a servire nei lavori del re: essi erano uomini di guerra, i primi capi, i comandanti delle sue quadrighe e della sua cavalleria.	9 Solomon did not, however, impose forced labour on the Israelites for his work -- for they were soldiers,his senior officers and his chariot and cavalry commanders.
10 Tutti i prin­cipi dell'esercito del re Salomone furono duecentocinquanta ed essi istruivano il popolo.	10 There were two hundred and fifty of King Solomon's officials in charge of the foremen who supervisedthe people.
11 Egli fece salire la figlia di Faraone dalla città di David nella casa che egli le aveva fabbricata; perchè disse: « La mia moglie non deve abitare nella casa di David re d'Israele, chè fu santificata quando in essa entrò l'arca del Signore ».	11 Solomon moved Pharaoh's daughter up from the City of David to the palace which he had built for her.'I must not be responsible', he said, 'for a woman living in the palace of David king of Israel, for these buildings towhich the ark of Yahweh has come are sacred.'
12 Allora Salomone offrì olocausti al Signore sopra l'altare del Signore che egli aveva eretto davanti al portico,	12 Thereafter, Solomon made burnt offerings to Yahweh on the altar of Yahweh which he had built infront of the portico,
13 perchè vi si offrissero ogni giorno dei sacrifizi, secondo il comando di Mosè: nei sabati, nel primo dei mesi, nei giorni di festa, tre volte l'anno, cioè nella solennità degli azzimi, in quella delle settimane e nella solennità dei tabernacoli.	13 in accordance with the regular prescriptions for burnt sacrifice as commanded by Moses, on theSabbaths, New Moons and the three annual feasts; the feast of Unleavened Bread, the feast of Weeks and thefeast of Shelters.
14 Stabilì, secondo la disposizione di David suo padre, gli uffici dei sacerdoti nel loro ministero e i leviti nel loro ordine, per cantar lodi e servire dinanzi ai sacerdoti, secondo il rito di ciascun giorno, e i portinai, secondo la distribuzione che n'era stata fatta per ciascuna porta: così infatti aveva ordinato David, uomo di Dio.	14 Fol owing the prescriptions of his father David, he assigned the orders of priests to their duties and theLevites to their tasks of praise and of assisting the priests in accordance with day-to-day requirements; as alsothe gatekeepers in their various orders to each gate -- for such was the command of David, man of God.
15 Degli ordini loro dati dal re i sacerdoti e i leviti non ne trasgrediron di tutti nemmeno uno, anche riguardo alla custodia dei tesori.	15 Nor was there deviation on any point from the king's command as regards the priests, the Levites oreven the storehouses.
16 Le spese Salomone le aveva tutte preparate, dal giorno in cui gettò i fondamenti della casa fino al dì in cui la condusse a termine.	16 Thus, al the work was over which Solomon had put in hand when the Temple of Yahweh was foundeduntil it was finished. The Temple of Yahweh was complete in every detail.
17 Allora Salomone andò ad Asiongaber e ad Ailat sul lido del Mar Rosso che è nella terra di Edom.	17 Solomon then mounted an expedition to Ezion-Geber and Elath on the sea-coast of Edom.
18 E Hiram gli mandò per mezzo dei suoi servi delle navi e dei piloti pratici del mare, i quali andarono con i servi di Salomone ad Olir, e portaron di là quattrocentocinquanta talenti d'oro al re Salomone.	18 Huram sent him ships through his agents, as wel as experienced sailors, who went to Ophir with menin Solomon's service, where they took on four hundred and fifty talents of gold, which they brought back to KingSolomon.
